the original prompt i wrote had 245 words, and i spent an hour trying to cut it down to 100, but i couldn’t for the life of me, so i hope it’s okay that i have 154 words. if it’s not okay, i can cut a portion out of the story, but i was reluctant to do that after already removing 100 words, because it’s already down to the bare minimum of the story. just let me know if it’s a problem that it’s still over, and like i said, i’ll cut a portion out of the story. thank you

words that stuck in his head for the rest of his life. he wasn't interesting, or emotive, or particularly kind. his friendship became a game to people, who could crack through the 'shell' he had created. and so he tried to 'break' it, he'd pick up pieces of people's personalities and emulate them. every new person required a new face and when they piled up he found it overwhelming, and lost himself in it.

he just wants a friend, but perhaps now he's as bad a manipulator as they were.
