Phenotype = the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment

Genotype = the genetic constitution of an individual organism

Essentially, the phenotype is the physical description of the organism (in this case, a cat) according to what genes are shown. The genotype is what genes an organism carries. According to certain rules (dominant/recessive), only specific genes will show.

So take a cat whose genome says the following: AA (tabby) / BB (black pigment) / OY (red pigment male) / wsw (has less than 50% white spotting). Because this cat is a male, we have a fun conflict! Male cats can show either black pigment or red pigment but not both. Because red pigment is dominant (will show) over black pigment, the cat will be a red tabby with less than 50% white.
