.

no offense, but the whole point of store pets is for them to get rarer and more valuable over time...
people need to understand and respect that they will never be re-released.

Rynx and Found Verdict are making a good point that I think tends to be overlooked. On every other petsite in existence, there are items (or even pets), that are not obtainable any more because they were limited when they were first released and people are able to accept and respect that. it confuses me why people cannot come to terms with that here.

This.

I've spent at least $40 every time a store pet set releases. Over 10 years that's $2,400. That's no small amount. Why do people feel entitled to have what I was given for my money?
I should by right, be able to delete them all.
I had 5 or 6 hoards of store pets over the years. Again, I bought them with my own money. I should be able to delete them, sell them or give away as I choose. They are my gift for supporting the site. If someone wants one, they should buy one as they're released. If you weren't here, then you missed out. That's all there is to it. It does not matter what "value" demand and time have given the pet because it's all arbitrary.

also would like to reiterate this, however.

I also think that's a pretty cold-hearted way of looking at it. "Entitled" to have? It's a pet collection site for kids. We're here to collect pretty pixels, not to boast about how we bested 13-year-olds in a trading game by virtue of having real world money. That's kind of an unpleasant way to look at this site.
And to be clear, I'm not suggesting releasing them for free, just giving the opportunity to purchase retired pets for C$ every now and then, during CS birthday for example - you could even increase the price depending on how long ago it was retired.
It's sort of the same reasoning as the Dec 18th rerelease. If the intended message was "if you weren't there you missed out" that not only goes against the "no negativity" attitude of CS but would also mean that staff wouldn't bother rereleasing old free pets.

by that logic, then there would be no point in even re releasing them bc some '13 year olds in a trading game' wouldn't be able to get them. so it wouldn't be fair anyways. it's not a 'if you weren't there, oh well, you miss out', it's 'if you helped keep this site running, this is just for you'. what's so wrong about that lmao

im happy that the original creators are keeping their promise to people that helped contribute to this site when they never thought Chickensnoothie would make it to 2020. most people only want them to be re released because....they don't have them and if they DID have them...I bet their opinion would change, just like that.

also this site is more than 'pretty pixels' to some people and that's pretty obvious lmao.

of course it's just a game... and many of us were kids/teens when we started playing too...
i've been playing since 2009 and spent a lot of money on this site. not from the beginning, as i was still a minor then.

these "13 year olds" will grow up too and if the site is still around by then, will be able to spend real money too if desired.

also, even kids can understand the concept of "limited", so why are we struggling so much with this simple thing...

I just don't understand where this cutthroat attitude comes from. It's a game. Nobody will give you a medal for collecting rare pets.

the answer is simply greed and the fact that some people refuse to understand that they just...cannot have every thing they want LOL.

i just find humor in the situation because they can be mad about it all they want but the creators will not do what they want....simply because they want to own the rarest pet on the site and it's hard to trade for....naturally. :)

and funnily enough...i was actually 13 when i first started playing cs! and never was bitter towards people that had store pets that i couldn't buy with real money...i just traded for them lol. and also understood the concept of some pets not being re released.

My ultimate dreamie is the UR 2018 Galaxy PPS Cat and I tried to trade for it last year because I got really lucky that on December 18th of last year I got an OMG SO Rare 2008 Medium Speckled Rat. It was on the main list so I thought it was pretty valuable for that reason and it also was one of the first rats to be created on Chicken Smoothie. It is an old pet, so I thought it would be a very good collectors pet. Plus it's really stinkin cute.

What I didn't understand was that when I used it to try to trade for that galaxy cat, I was told that the demand for my rat was MUCH lower than this highly demanded and much much much NEWER cat......
And they BOTH HAVE THE SAME RARITY!
I was upset. I loved that cat more than the rat, but I knew in my heart that this rat has more history therefore should be more popular and sought after. It's not apparently....
It was wrong to assume that something that used to be so important then to be so much more important now...
Times change. I get it.

So I kept my rat and fell even more in love with it.
One day I will find a pet more in demand than my dreamie the Galaxy Cat... Which might be newer than it...

It's messed up.

A 10 years difference between two pets means nothing!

Demand has tipped the scales to make older pets seem worthless.
