Guide to CS Rarities

I just had a quick look-through and I think the rearrangement works super well!! people's attention spans are short (that's not a criticism I can absolutely be the same way sometimes) and I think having those attention-grabbing lists/references right off the bat is a great way to get players interested in why they're arranged the way they are and do some further looking into the research the thread is based on.

I like the new layout! Don't have anything to add except some minor comments:
- I liked seeing the "page one"/"page two" labels in the table of contents
- why are some names bolded in the OMGSR rarity list, and what do the ** mean?
- maybe add a "Bold = Rare when released" to the legend in the store pet list. I admit I'm usually too lazy to read long paragraphs

All the pets on the OMGSR list are bolded except for the UR pets that have no past fluctuations to place them accurately, so I've put their names as **___ in this gap or above**. I did have an explanation as to why above the list;

"Not all UR pets can be placed accurately as they have been OMGSR since release, but the lowest possible place they could be on the list has been marked to give some indication of their comparable value."
But I moved it to the rarity explanation post to cut down on text around the lists. Should it be moved back up?

And thanks for bringing up that store pet list paragraph, I think it's way too long but rephrasing it whilst still explaining what I need to explain has been driving me nuts. I'm gonna put it here for anyone to chime in on how I could simplify it;

""VR since release" store pets are placed as being VR since the last month they were available in the store. Most VR store pets from 2012 onward don't have fluctuations of R-VR to order them completely accurately, so they are separated by year. Whether you value all the pets from the same year as equal is up to you, this is just to make the list easier to read! However, VR store pets that did upgrade from rare are not the same value as the "VR since release" pets above them in that section; they are accurately placed based on what month they increased to VR. These pets are bolded to make them easier to identify, along with any other pets with rarity fluctuations. Rare store pets are sorted by any past VR fluctuations & month of release."

I just found this thread the other day (finally), and I just wanted to say that I love everything about it! I think it’s a great help, and will continue to be even more as it grows and gains popularity.
I’ve been searching for something I like to use since the list was retired, and this guide is one of the best I’ve seen! I’ve always thought that rarity change data was the most useful for valuing pets, but I was never able to adequately find the data on my own in the past, so this is absolutely spectacular!

Yes, I would definitely move it next to the list. The full explanation can be elsewhere for people who are interested.

The paragraph is fine, but the important part (what does bolded mean) is kind of hidden in all of the words. Adding it to the legend will help people who want to have a quick glance over it.

Ah yes I also stumbled over your suggestion last time and sat down to think on how to change the lists, so that the explanation can be simplified. I sent Aurora a version for the OMGSR and the store pet list and basically marked the pets in green on the OMGSR list that have not enough data to correctly place them and I kind of did the same thing for the store pet list, so that you can see at one glance which pets are placed correctly (black) and which we don't know enough about (other colour).
I'm sure she'll post a modified version (maybe she finds another idea to present stuff?) soon for you to enjoy :p

Thank you for giving feedback! It's such a huge help, honestly.
I've re-adjusted it, so now the list looks like this. There's a colour legend for each list, and a more extensive explanation in the fourth post. The store pets list has also had a major revamp following Asvoria's colour coding suggestion c: Hopefully it's a bit easier to understand now!

Again, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! I want this thread to be accessible to all players, not just those who have knowledge on rarity already. So if something is too confusing, please feel free to chime in and I'll see if it can be clarified! ^^

Something else that was brought up was removing the rarity history links from the picture versions of each list, and just having the names & images. Is that something anyone agrees/disagrees with?

As someone who is a major skimmer and small attention span I’ll add in my two cents about the picture list:

I personally like picture lists better because they compute better for me. I also like having the data right underneath so that if I wanted to click on it it’s right there.

It looks great. The only thing is with the store pets colour coding choices being red and orange it actually makes it hard to determine the difference at a glance, so I'd suggest changing one of the colours.

If you remove the rarity history links from the picture version I think the links should still go into another post so the data is easy to find if people want to
