@Animall
my instinct is that what you're saying has a logical basis, but it shouldn't necessarily rule how people play the game. I'm not sure if I'm making sense today I'm having an off day.
but the thing is, this idea of "creating fairness will never be achieved and trying to do so is forcing others to play a certain way" -- seems to ring of a very "survival of the fittest" mentality.
I don't think anyone should be forced to play the game in a way they don't want to of course, but doing things like providing advice or guidelines for trading are, I think in a way, a sort of community effort because helping others achieve their goals can be rewarding in and of itself.
not that someone should be able to come along and say "you can't value your pet at x nons because that's not fair," but that the opposite shouldn't be a thing either (when it so often is), where someone with more can tell someone with less that "this previously fair value for this pet is not applicable because current 'demand,' (often controlled by a handful of people) says it's worth three times as much." and then treat that person unkindly for making what they believed to be a fair offer in good faith. and that happens a lot.

The thing with overpaying is that one person offering extreme overpay for a pet they REALLY want, the trade goes public and that pet's demand can skyrocket overnight just from seeing what ONE person gave for it. Not an issue IMO.
But. If you ask people if they will accept extreme overpay on a simple VR with decent demand...knowing that it WILL greatly increase the demand of the pet...they'll probably accept that trade, instead of declining and saying 'no this is not fair and I don't want to increase demand on this pet'. :)

This.
This is so true.
You want fairness. Then trade for those rats at what they are “valued” at. Don’t avoid them because you don’t like them.
Well you want some other pets that someone else wants. Then trade whatever you want regardless of value.
Which is it, am I supposed to get the pets I like at whatever cost? Or am I supposed to trade “fairly” for the pets I don’t want?

I agree.
I also think choosing to overpay for a pet you really want is completely different from being forced to follow the preferences of someone in the FTT (who isn't actually your trade partner). How many times have you seen someone offered pets that are perfectly happy with only to have them told in the FTT that "I wouldn't accept because it's a rat/fruit/zebra/whatever". This seems to happen even when the pets on both sides have equal demand or the other person is extremely overpaying. I think a big part of the problem is many people spreading advice actually have no experience trading those pets themselves. The sad thing is that while they might think spreading this demand advice is helping people it actually means they're encouraging people to trade these so called low-demand pets for a lot less than people who want them would actually be willing to pay. The zebras for example have been an amazing help for my trading, people throw them at you like they're worthless but it's actually pretty easy to find someone willing to offer good trades for them (maybe not the crazy amount the list had them listed at but certainly more than much of the demand advice given)
FOUND VERDICT wrote:but people are paying the extreme overpay that some others demand, that's the problem...
we are all part of it.
if nobody overpays, nobody will expect it (or at least not the insame amount that's common right now for some pets)
The thing is it's actually only a small amount of people willing to offer these massive overpays and those trades are then spread. If the demand was truly at the level claimed then people asking for trades such as a straight sorb swap for their android or punk dogs wouldn't have those pets sitting for ages and ages while they keep requesting the same trades. If the demand for these pets really had them at that straight swap they'd be snapped up quickly.
I think some of the problem may be people get a bit confused about what people are willing to pay when there's bulk compared to a straight swap.

jeeze the thread is interestingexactly what im thinking. personal preference will always exist.
also, on the topic of store pets, re-releasing them would be super unfair because of the value that comes with a pet that would never be re-released. as a new player though, i do think it would be impossible for me to get an older one.

Yeah that makes sense, but I guess it means that store pets are always going to end up being the most in demand pets by the end of everything

I know you enjoy trading your pets for more than they’re worth to “get the most out of your pets”, but this is just inflation gone wild. Yes, there are some players out there spreading rumors that this pet is worth more or that pet is worth less, or even worthless. The truth should come first. If measured in real money, CS players probably have lost a little over a million dollars in unfair trading (no joke. The math adds up). Please trade fairly, all. There are two people in a trade and the whole CS community listening, you’re not alone.
Just my take on trade even BefORE I JOInED.
it's demand and supply, that's how the world works even if this is just a game.
if there's people out there willing to pay a lot for certain pets, they why should others not accept it.
those people chose for themselves to pay that much, nobody forced them.
let's say you have an dragon cat pps and someone offers an sunjewel. do you really want to tell me that you'd decline the offer because it's too much
and you don't have to believe everything other players tell you.
people can easily use the search function and see for themselves if said pet really is that high in demand or if it's just 1-2 traders that got an really good offer. there's trade evidence being collected every day.
Well, my rarity IQ is -0! I thought the dragon PPS was worth more than the sunjewel. 🤦🏻♀️
Umm, with the posts above, I said what I said because I didn’t have enough information to make correct assumptions yet. I didn’t join the rarity community until late December last year, so I’m currently living off estimates. My post was talking about ninja traders and scammers, not everyday trades or auctions or whatnot. I guess I should have specified.

To add onto my previous post I think people also forget that demand cancels itself out and two high demand pets swapping should not be used as an indicator of either pets worth. For example, I paid a joker for my Raven. Considering when each turned VR and their respective demand I consider this a fair swap. If I was to share the trade in the VR Thrace thread however some people would say I'd paid two nons and use it to support their claim of the pets "worth" when the reality is there is no way I'd actually pay two nons, or even an UR Bee for a Raven or joker.
