I took a hiatus for a while, and everything was SO different. Skelebuns has an insane demand, ravens where with over a non, pps dragon cats grew in demand A LOT, and I gave up trading for my long time dreamies. It’s hard to admit, but only players with super rare pets are going to get valuable pets, rather then the players who can’t trade off there pets due to demand. The only way to get most pets ( for me at least ) is to enter giveaways and hope I’ll get lucky.

Sorry for typos, I have a hard time typing on mobile, my phones autocorrect is trash

eh, i'm highly against deleting peoples accounts...

i know some of my friends who have been on this site since 2009 have taken breaks for like 2-3 years and came back.
especially if these people spent real money on C$ to buy storepets i don't think there's anything that justifies taking away their pets and having their accounts deleted.

The account wouldn’t be deleted since many users have art on here. The pets would simply be moved. They get plenty of warning ahead of time so I don’t see what makes it unfair

oooh no, that's not okay. just strip an account of everything valuable and leave it as an empty shell for some poor player to log back into later? I don't think that's justifiable at all. I think found verdict makes a good point that people sometimes hiatus for years and end up coming back. I agree that the CS policy of leaving inactive accounts intact is a good one. I wouldn't want to see that changed even if it did "solve" the demand problem.

Yes but, to say there will be an announcement on the front page doesn’t help anyone who hasn’t been on the site in a while and, like I said in my post above, I no longer use the email this account is tied to, and I’m sure a lot of other people don’t use their old emails as well. So the “warnings” would have no way of reaching a lot of inactive users.

They earned the pets. Some people have very good reasons for not wanting to log in, for however long they choose.
By your logic, it shouldn't matter if art is deleted/lost either, since they were "warned ahead of time".

@XxFlamepoolxX

even if the account is not deleted, it's still empty when you return and you have to start completely new.
where's the difference in that and deleting the account.

I took an extended break from about 2013-2019 thanks to adjusting to moving, a new job, and general depression.

Had I logged on and found my account cleared, warned or not, I would have been furious. There just wasn't a lot of free time for me in the past several years.

They sit in accounts owned by people who have no plans to return gathering dust. It’s not very fair to newer users who see these gorgeous pets in the archive and desperately want one.

I support the whole sending an email to check if they still intend to return because sometimes people forget their passwords/emails or they simply dont think to give the pets to active people who would want them. Maybe something happened to them and they’re no longer even around which is a sad thought, but they would probably want the pets to go to people.
I say send an email after two years of inactivity. If there is no response within a few months, assume they’re perma-inactive and move the pets to the pound. Maybe even send one more email beforehand just in case they missed the first.

It’s not punishing them if they are given plenty of notice beforehand. It just makes sure that certain pets stay in circulation. If they return late and are upset, it’s their fault for not checking in like they were asked to. The site could even have a warning upon signup stating that this could happen so it isn’t a sudden shock to people.

maybe this could be a condition for new accounts created going forward, but it’s unfair to the members who signed up for CS not knowing their accounts had the risk of being deleted. I took a two year hiatus almost from CS and don’t use the email I signed up with anymore, so my account could have easily been deleted and I would have had no idea, even tho I intended to come back when I had time. Unfortunately, life after high school is very consuming.

The problem with that though is that it doesn’t solve the current pet issue. That was the main reasoning behind suggesting it. There would most likely be an announcement post on the first page and maybe even send some emails out to let everyone know about the new change

A couple years back, I was exploring CS and I came across the Members List. At the time, it was formatted so there was a long, long list of every single player (active or not). Naturally, I combed through all the older members pets. I was stunned. I saw hundreds of list pets in open groups collecting dust. I was green with envy.

However, that was several years ago. Since then, I’ve taken numerous hiatuses. I’ve come back every single time.

Now, the chances of someone returning after a decade of inactivity is highly unlikely. But let’s imagine for the moment someone does. Except, they come back to discover that their entire account has been ransacked. Pets that they cherished - loved - are gone. All because other users felt more entitled to them. That because they weren’t using them, they didn’t deserve them. Whether the member spent five minutes or five years playing, those pets still belong to them. Y’all are literally talking about theft.

This is the equivalent of breaking into someone’s house and stealing everything of value because the owner “wasn’t using it.” It’s not just morally wrong, it’s greedy.

Guys, these are virtual pets. I recognize that climbing the List Ladder is difficult. Getting your dreamie is difficult. As years pass, it’ll gradually become more tedious to get pets. But like every game, it has to be hard. If it was easy, no one would play.

I joined in 2012 but didn't really understand the point of the game so I never played after getting a few pets, I just came back recently out of nowhere and have been pretty hooked. I'm kicking myself for not continuing in 2012 because by now I would probably have a really nice collection of pets I really would like. I try to understand trading and I thought people went by the list but now I don't know anymore what people go by... ^_^
I also agree there should be a way store pets get rereleased and seemingly inactive accounts should stay intact because hey, I came back after that long.
