Bustling as always, Wyndon was filled with people and Pokemon alike, the noise of a busy metropolis nearly impossible to escape from. Some were tourists, some were locals, but most prominent were the Trainers. With Champion Athena starting this new international shindig, it was no surprise that Galar was gonna be up to its ears in powerful folks. And without a doubt, Wyndon was gonna be the most packed.
It was no surprise, then, that Piers found a bit of solace within the telephone box. The former Gym Leader was used to noise and crowds thanks to his tenure in the Gym Challenge circuit, as well as his own concerts back home, sure. But that didn't mean he didn't need a breather every now and again. It was easy to feel suffocated when you were constantly swimming in a sea of people. Besides, this gave him a good excuse to phone home. Spikemuth was a good distance away from Wyndon, so he wouldn't have the opportunity to visit all that often while he was here.
Piers put a few coins in the phone and dialed the number, smiling to himself. He couldn't forget the look on Marnie's face when he told her he was gonna be in this thing. Even when he was a Gym Leader, he'd never been one for all the pomp that came with it. He'd always been perfectly content to stay back home, right in his comfort zone, even if it meant not many people would show up to battle him due to the lack of a Power Spot. But with Marnie taking his place, he was free to cheer her on with his music and his mates. But she deserved more, really. If Marnie was gonna be a top-rate Gym Leader, they had to prove you didn't need Dynamaxing to make battles exciting. And what better way to do that than by representing Spikemuth in the biggest broadcasting event of the century?
Please leave your message after the tone.
Huh? Oh. He'd been so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn't even realized the phone hadn't stopped ringing. Marnie must've been busy. No matter. He could still leave her a message. "Oi, Marnie? It's Piers. Good news, got to Wyndon in one piece. I'd call you on my cell but figured the box was a place to get some peace an' quiet 'round here. Heh, bet ya can hear the crowd anyways, though. Anyways, hope Team Yell ain't causin' ya too much of a headache. Uh...let's see, eat your veggies, don't stay up too late, and have fun runnin' the gym, yeah? Call me whenever, but I may not pick up right away. Pretty sure the show starts today? But that's it on my end. Love ya. Bye."
Phone call over with, Piers hung up, but remained in the booth for the time being. If anyone needed it for anything he'd head out, but for now? Wouldn't hurt to people watch a bit.
