Try these strategies for managing anxiety:
- Take deep breaths, and focus on the physical safety of your surrounding environment. Once you're calm, think about the thing that's making you anxious while maintaining the focus on your slow breathing.
- Think about the worst possible consequence. Then think about how you could recover from it, and how people recover from far worse things. Usually, the worst case scenario isn't near irreparable.
- Don't think of yourself as abnormal. Anxiety is very common, and thinking there's something wrong with you will only reinforce the idea that you can't succeed. It's normal and okay to be anxious, you've overcome your anxiety before even if only in small situations, and you've gotten to where you are in spite of it. You are not doomed.
