Personality: Alex tends to seem like he has a dual-personality. One minute he's perfectly fine, and the next minute he's upset about a situation that may not have even happened. This is mostly due to schizophrenia, and with the hallucinations of shadow people and black cats as well as the voices of people he knows calling his name and babies crying, it tends to make him paranoid and put him on edge. Music helps keep him stable, and so he's become quite the singer because of this. He's the type of person who seems on top of things, but actually struggles quite a bit. He wants people to know him, to come to him when in need, but he's afraid of losing the people he cares about due to some similar past trauma, and so he keeps to himself and is very quiet (besides singing). Alex regardless is extremely kind, caring, and unfortunately too quick to forgive those who wronged him.
History: Alex has been struggling with depression for quite some time, and it's making him question his beliefs. Prayer after prayer he felt like no one was listening, and so he is slowly giving up. The world has seemed confusing and scary for year after year. Struggling with schizophrenia, he searches for answers through music. He spends his time listening to music and letting it soothe him as much as it can, and for the most part it helps. He almost always has some sort of music playing, it's what gets him by.
When he was younger, Alex struggled with differentiation between what was reality and what was not. After years of dealing with seeing and hearing things, remembering events that never happened and forgetting the ones that did, he was diagnosed with a mild form of schizophrenia. His parents and peers treated him very differently after that, and eventually it led to a fight with a school bully that turned extremely physical and landed him a month in the hospital, where he received proper treatment and help temporarily. Due to this situation that left him traumatized, he now keeps his diagnosis to himself and much of his thoughts and such.
Disclaimer: I used schizophrenia for him because that is something I was diagnosed with and having a character who can relate makes it seem less scary.
