Based on experience I would highly recommend not using clay noses. They’re hard, usually heavy even hollowed out, don’t hold up very well. If you were to do any type of clay nose, I would only recommend a resin type of air dry clay (such as magic clay. I can find a link I believe) painting can be really annoying though, as it can scratch and chip. But honestly if you want a hard nose and you’re going to pay money for clay I would really recommend just buying a resin cast nose or a plastic type nose. They generally run around $7-13 so similar price to a box of clay, but sometimes you can get them much cheaper on sale for clear out or with slight defects like color mishaps.
I asbsolutely hate sculpy noses. They chip and break too easy and weigh too much. And this has been my experience with every type of sculpy tried at multiple different temps and techniques. After a few washes/cleanings and around 3-5 months they usually start showing major wear. The worst is when they get wet.
Whatever you do make sure you seal it in the end.
