C$ Bank!

Postby Mythz » Sun Jun 23, 2019 11:26 am

So, we've all gone through gaining C$ and then almost instantly using it all up!
I was thinking, what if we each had something like a 'bank' where we could store C$ to use at a later time?
Similar to the feature on Wajas, where you can store any amount of currency and then later extract it to use whenever you want!
It'd be a great way to manage the amount of C$ you use, and to save up for those things you really want!

Ideas from others:

nickjr wrote:Ooh, building off of this, what if we could create multiple "bank accounts"? I know that's not quite how you save up for different things in the real world, but I wonder if it would be cool for younger users to be able to create multiple bank accounts for different purposes if they want to--e.g. a long-term C$ stash, saving up for the next store pets, saving to use in a trade, etc.

wspeare wrote:is perhaps a feature in the bank to limit withdrawal? So you can deposit unlimited amount of times to your bank, but maybe only withdraw "x amount of times" per week or per month. And "x" can be a set number globally for all users, so individuals don't have too much control otherwise this feature would lose it's purpose. For those who really need extra help on impulse control. (Now, if you go ahead and withdraw all of it....can't do much for you there ;) )

rocoboq wrote:i've seen some people saying they don't support because they wouldn't really use it or they are responsible enough to just not spend their c$, and i wanted to say that this would probably be a system more for parents than actual users. especially for younger players, parents are typically the ones to pay for c$ and the younger you are, the more likely you are to spend your c$ more frivolously. in general, younger children don't understand finances, savings, and the like as well as older players do. i know when i was playing this when i was younger, if i had as much c$ as i do now, i would be spending it left and right on anything that caught my eye because i had little self-control. now that i'm an adult living on my own, i understand the concepts of saving money and only spending it when needed. having a banking system would allow parents who pay for their children's c$ make sure they are not spending it unwisely by toggling withdrawal limits, transfer options, locked bank accounts, monthly/daily payment limits, and the like, which are all functions available for actual bank accounts in the real world. as i mentioned before, it would also be a great way for kids to learn about banking and savings in the real world, which is something that is not taught well enough in schools (at least in the us).

Mythz wrote:There could be an option to 'hide' an account so we can transfer c$ into it, but can't see how much we have in there or access it until a certain date (that you would have set yourself). This would be useful for something you know is coming out on a certain date and to save up for it without realising/taking out/using what you've collected

I like the idea of making like, a “savings” account for people who have trouble managing financial impulses. Putting that extra barrier in the way can really help when making such choices, and those who feel like they’ve got a grip on their budget can simply not put any C$ in.

Could even have a parental lock on COPPA accounts potentially so parents feel good about letting their kids spend money?

Ooh I like that idea! I'll add it to the main post <3
I know I'm fairly good at budgeting my C$, but I'd still love somewhere to store some just as back-up c:

This is an excellent idea!
At one point, I had over 1000C$, and spent it all on these new store pets. It'd be nice to have a way to budget my C$.

received 10 c$ from "commission"
received 5 c$ from "commission"
received 20 c$ from "commission"
paid 2 c$ to "random user"
paid 40 c$ to "art shop"

Maybe even have a small amount of interest on the amount in the bank? Like every day you 'check in' at the bank you get a small fraction of whatever you've got in the bank (probably capped at a certain amount so users with thousands and thousands of C$ don't make tons). You'd only be able to use the interest once it is over 1C$ of course, and making it so if you add C$ (Trying to be sneaky and up the interest by depositing all your C$) you can't claim the interest for that day, like neopets bank.
And by 'small interest' I mean less then 0.1C$ per day probably, whatever that math might end up being.

Small pro of this suggestion is that anyone who wants to keep their full C$ amount private won't have to remember to block their C$ amount in any screenshots they take that include the top of the page (screenshots for asking questions, answering questions, suggestion design pictures, etc)

I love the parental lock idea.
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.
I neither read nor speak between the lines. But I will analyze your language.
