What is your coral's tank like?

It's an old spare tank which used to host a number of goldfish many years ago, large enough for a calf to sit in and settle comfortably, though not so large that an adult heifer could quite manage the same feat. Longer than it is wide, and wider than it is tall, a common rectangular piece with a wooden frame around both top and bottom of the tank. Soft sand and small pebbles decorate the bottom of the tank, a decent bed half an inch thick in most places giving a few plants, and of course coral, a place to rest undisturbed, save for the gently flowing currents generated by the constantly running filtration and aeration systems. A few small wrasse drifted about the tranquil waters, bright splashes of color amongst green and cream and grey of their surroundings. Rather unremarkable, with the most notable thing being the inverted goldfish bowl settled right in the middle of the aquarium, adding a little more height for the fish to explore if they wished, a sort of viewing dome, an aquatic crystal ball, adding just that extra little bit of character to catch the eye. It wasn't much, perhaps, nothing elaborate, just what she had on hand and what the kind salesman at the pet store said would do best with a beginner's attempts at a reef tank, however temporary it might be, but... she was rather pleased with it, and maybe, once she had to let the little coral go, return it to the ocean, perhaps she could adopt another who needed some assistance growing, help out the reefs just a little bit more.

What is your coral's tank like?

Her coral was located in a nice tank- the same one Enke had given to all of them. But Jolene had wanted Enid to be special- so, as she filled her tank with her little crafted decorations, she felt the coral needed something more. The lighting was tinted slightly (better for growing, of course) and the bottom was coated in a soft rock gravel mixture. She’d added some more rocks, however- but no fish.

The coral would have to return to the ocean at the end of all this, she knew. If she got fish (and then named them, because of course they’d need names) then she would have to find a new home for them. And she didn’t know if she could prepare in time. Her coral was important.

She’d added two brand new rocks- one was multicolored and stand out. However, it was not very large. It was smaller than even her coral, adding to its beauty but not stealing the spotlight. The second was a nice, larger one, rather smooth in shape. It was large, taking up a good portion of the tank- but it provided a nice background to her coral, she thought.

And of course, these rocks fit in with her hand built decorations. Her little clay fish she’d made to befriend Enid, and her little furniture sets were adjacent to her new rocks. Ever so slowly, as her coral grew in size, so did Jolene’s tank in beauty.

Mia, Sorrel

A light in the corner of her vision caught Sorrel's attention. When she turned to get a proper look at whatever was causing the light, she was pleasantly surprised. She had been so sure that it would be Mia's phone - she was always leaving it laying about - or maybe some fancy necklace the other girl owned - again, a frequent occurrence for Mia to leave her jewelry strewn about.

Instead, however, Sorrel saw Maui.

His tank was much larger than the original Enke had handed him over in, and various living plants had been placed in the tank with the coral. Still, what had caught the light earlier? Then Sorrel saw it - the thick layer of sand at the bottom had shiny rocks scattered across it, some just barely visible through the dense underwater vegetation. 'For a little pizazz, surely,' Sorrel thought with a smile - of course Mia would be one to make sure that her coral had a tank as fashionable as she was.

Then, just as she was about to turn away and go on about her business, a few small little fish popped out from their hiding place amongst the plants. Sorrel's smile got even bigger until she was grinning like an idiot - they were tiny blue tang babies, Mia's favorite fish.

"I'm glad she gave you some company, Maui," Sorrel whispered, giving him one last affectionate look before heading towards the door.

She passed Mia on the way out, wearing a coral-patterned pair of shorts.

 Pippin stared into the tank blankly, watching the water bubble from a small filter attached to the side. She loved Cni, her little coral, and had spent all day watching the tank for signs of life. So far, she hadn't seen anything...but that certainly wasn't stopping her. She was going to care for Cni from now on and it was her responsibility to make sure that it was okay, although Pippin was taking it a bit too seriously by sitting in front of the tank to monitor the coral all day long.

 Cni was in a small, rectangular tank, only ten gallons in size with dark gray and brown rocks scattered around in the bottom. One of those rocks held the tiny coral, but overall, it looked very plain and empty. Staring at Cni, Pippin suddenly cocked her head to one side, her lips pushed together tightly and her mouth slanted to one side as she started to go deep in thought.

 "Eirwen?" the girl asked after a few minutes, breaking the silence as she turned to chat with her friend that was sitting behind her on their couch.
 "Yeah?"
 "Why do you think there are there so many rocks if the coral is only on one of them?" Her voice was gentle and soft, full of a child-like curiosity. Eirwen had to pause to think for a moment before replying, not wanting to break her friend's heart with a harsh answer.
 "Hm.....you know, that's a good question. Maybe it's going to get bigger and need that much space someday?" She put on a fake smile, knowing that coral can take many years to grow even a little bit depending on the species. Yet at that response, Pippin's eyes grew wide in excitement.
 "Do you really think so? Is Cni going to grow as big as the whole tank?" The pure joy and innocence in her voice was so clear that Eirwen couldn't help but smile. Pippin seemed so cute sometimes, even if she could be rather impatient and unknowledgable. Eirwen shrugged.
 "I'm not sure, but I hope it will. Do you want me to take a guard shift so you can take a break and get something to eat?"

What is your coral's tank like?

The tank I’ve set aside for Caspian is nothing too fancy- just a little rectangular glass container, you know. But I’ve tried to make it as homey as possible for my little friend. I opted against getting any fish for now- I’m focusing mainly on caring for my coral, right now. Once he’s been returned to the sea maybe I’ll see about getting some, but it’s just Caspian for now.

I’ve been adding stuff to the tank for sure, though- found objects from the beach, mainly. I’ve got a couple rocks in there, and some colorful empty shells too. My favorite of those is probably the smooth, banded rock over there in the corner. Ooh, or maybe the cream and brown shell right there by Caspian’s base?

I’ve found some seaglass as well- smooth little bits of green and blue to add some color to the tank. Also a small piece of driftwood I found, knotted and pale and rubbed smooth by the ocean. The prettiest thing I’ve added to the tank, though, is probably the flowers. I’ve been collecting stray petals from island flowers and setting them to float on the surface of the tank.

I hope Caspian likes what I’ve done with the place.

bluebell beams upon receiving this question, serving as a warning sign to enke that this question was a big mistake to ask. “i felt that azurina needed her tank to feel more like home rather than some sort of prison. it’s bigger now, and i bought her all of her healing crystals yesterday!”
azurina reminded bluebell of a pearl, something extremely precious, the gem of the sea. “i also went out to the pier yesterday and found some beautiful glowing iridescent shells, perfectly matching azurina’s aura. there’s black sand at the bottom of her tank now, because i thought it really helped her stand out, like a diamond in the rough.”
enke raises his eyebrows, seemingly impressed by bluebell’s care for the coral, similar to his own.
“there’s also a bit of purple kelp surrounding her, giving her some plant life. she’s doing great, growing up more and more by the day it seems! i feel like it’s still missing something, i’m just not really sure what.”
enke smiles, something never seen by bluebell before. “it’s very impressive bluebell, i’m glad you’re putting effort into this task. although i still don’t think the crystals are necessary, it really does reflect your care. well done.”
bluebell can’t help but smile, thanking enke.
“thank you enke, i can’t wait to see her turn into something beautiful!”

What is your coral's tank like?
Vivian has a very small, round tank, but she’s perfectly content with it that way. She doesn’t need tons of space for dramatic decorations; she feels like they take the attention away from the cute little coral. She has a solid base of sand supporting her in her tank, though it’s been covered in shiny silver stones. These small, sleek stones are the only decorations that Vivian needs in her tank to make it feel special. The slick, shimmering surface of the stones bounce light from above onto the little coral, making her sparkle and shine, and really bringing out her vibrant pink color. Even without movement or words, one can still see her happiness when the sunlight hits the surface of the translucent, clean blue water. The tank is polished; it seems so sanitary that you could dip a filthy hoof in the water and it’d come out squeaky clean. To keep her company, the coral has a few little kelp plants around her in her tank. They wiggle and dance around her, tickling her softly. Her other companion is a little colorful clownfish called Citrus. Citrus loves to swim around and through Vivian’s branches. Vivian would much rather have friends than furniture in her tank. (207)

What is your coral's tank like?
Spooks tank is one thing: extravagant. It sits in the dead center of the room, halfway between the tv and the window. Here, Spooks gets the best of both worlds - entertainment and a nice view. However, more importantly than that, they have their own spotlight, shining down from above, illuminating them and making their importance clear to anyone who walks into the home. Thalia's friends always say she's being dramatic or pretentious when they comment on it's placement and she wonders sometimes if, perhaps, they're right. Even still, it's not like she has a choice: it's to strive off the wrath of an angry spirit after all.

Within the tank is a plush and fertile ground, designed perfectly for a coral such as Spooks. A handful of old, but beautifully polished rocks surround the coral in a ring in a pale imitation of a summoning circle. There is also a smattering of miniature fake skull figurines and one very cranky old fish of unknown origin. Thalia thinks they get along. Or, well, at the very least they seem unbothered by one another. On the outside, fairy lights surround the tank, adding to it's eerie aura and giving the whole room a feeling of mystery.

What is your coral's tank like?
Cadenza is the star of the tank. There are bits and bobs like a stray plant here and there but nothing to distract from the steadily growing glory that is Cadenza. You may find a dinky treasure chest hidden amongst the greenery and perhaps there may be a stone diver hidden somewhere in the depths. Still it does not distract from the tanks main feature that is the glorious and beautiful Cadenza!

The water is kept at a pleasantly warm temperature and a soft lamp is shone slightly toward the tank so there is always some sort of gentle light. The tank itself is a 5 gallon tank which is the bare minimum for keeping a fighting fish! Though this tank doesn't actually have any fish, only Cadenza, plants and a couple of fun things tucked here and there. On the floor of the tank scattered near Cadenza are a few glass dice (the table top gaming kind) of varying colours.

On the outside of the tank there are some paper roses attached to the sides with blue tack for easy removal process. There are also various indicators for how well the tank is doing for things like oxygen and various other important things
