3 Kalon Readopt (Winners)

Hello everyone! I've had these three kals for a while now and have lost connections with two of them. I would keep the other, but I can't bring myself to revamp her character without her wife and kid. So, I thought it best to open them up to be adopted by you all.

These three were a family, but you do not have to keep them together.
However, you may enter for as many of them as you like so if you wanted to keep them together you could try ^^
If you win you can change anything you like (name, gender, story, etc).

So, on to the contests! This will end one month from today, May 10th 13th. Extensions are available upon request.

Bailey was the first kalon I won from a content contest (my first was from a raffle). I still remember how overjoyed I was, so...

Act of Kindness Story:

A bitter wind blew across the street, ruffling my scarf and sending the end once again up into my face. I huffed, pushing it down. My mother laughed gently, squeezing my hand. "Having some trouble?"

"No," I replied stubbornly, hurrying to keep pace. Darn these small child legs. Being a grown up was going to be so great. I'd be able to walk so much faster.

She chuckled, leading me down the street towards our favorite cafe. We always came here on weekends for a hot chocolate and pastry. I liked danishes, but she was more partial to a croissant.

A few metres from the door, huddled just inside of an alleyway, a hunched figure sat. Their hood covered part of their face, but from the glimpse I saw, they were cold. A thin blanket was wrapped around their shoulders.

I hesitated, but I was gently steered past and into the cafe. The warmth and smell of coffee hit me in the most delightful way possible, and my attention was captured by the glass cabinet full of assorted treats. I peered through while my mother ordered the drinks.

"Have you decided yet, honey?"

Someone came inside, bringing a gust of cold wind inside as the door opened and closed. A slight chill ran down my spine; and then I remembered them.

"Um." I hesitated. "Could we...get another hot chocolate instead?"

She tilted her head, and then her confused expression cleared. "Ah. Of course, love."

She held onto two as I carried the third and we made our way outside. She hung back a few steps as I approached the person, still hunched over.

"Excuse me."

They glanced up, and I saw the shadows under their eyes. I held out the cup, and they stared.

"For me?" Their voice came out as a croak.

I nodded.

They reached out and gently took the cup from my hands. Taking a sip, their eyes closed as a shudder ran through them. Just from that, their cheeks seemed to flush.

Their eyes opened, and their whole face seemed to change; brighter, hopeful.

"Thank you."

It was this moment that would start a change in her life, like ripples in a pond from a stone she threw.

That one experience as a child, seeing the affect of one small act of kindness, led to many more selfless deeds.

In high school she organized bake sales to help local animal shelters. In college she volunteered at the food bank. Now as an adult, a lot of her time is spent working at the homeless shelter. She loves getting her family involved, and to show people how small things can make a huge difference.

The first time...

I'd never asked out a girl before.

Correction; I'd never asked out anyone before.

Google hadn't been much help. I didn't like buying flowers because they wilted, and plastic ones would seem cheap. I didn't know what kind of chocolate she liked. It seemed like all gift ideas were out the door.

We hardly talked. I saw her in the hallways around school, and sometimes in class we interacted, but that was about it. Maybe it was crazy, seeming as I hardly knew her, but I couldn't help but have a crush on her. She was just so...wonderful.

For starters, she was pretty. Those eyes were like swimming pools. You could get lost in those eyes without a GPS. She was kind, always trying to raise money for causes. Last year it was cans for a food drive. This year it's for the animal shelters. And, she made amazing chocolate chip cookies.

I knew firsthand. I'd bought two bags from her bakery stall.

I also knew I wasn't the only one interested. Many guys had asked her out, and each time she'd declined. Maybe she just didn't want to date anyone, but it gave me some hope that maybe she just didn't want to date a guy.

Couldn't blame me for dreaming, right?

Our first proper encounter happened when we were both hurrying to class and crashed into each other. It was just like some cheesy teen romcom, us helping each other to pick up our books. She thanked me, I forgot how to speak for a moment, and then blurted out, "I'd love to help volunteer with you!"

She beamed, and got my number so she could text me.

Nel had my number. 'Freaking out' was an understatement.

I helped at the bakery stall, and blushed any time we got too close. I helped to deliver profits to the shelter, and she looked so happy it made me want to cry. She did, a little bit, and then - oh my gosh - we hugged.

She was warm. Soft. Her perfume was beautiful. She was beautiful, inside and out.

We started hanging out more, just for fun. Saw a few movies. Got a few milkshakes. Normal friend stuff. For awhile, I was afraid that's all we were ever going to be.

Prom season came around. I gave myself a mighty good talking to and plucked up the courage to ask. She was coming over, so I decided that's when I'd do it.

I dressed up a bit. Got some helium balloons and wrote 'PROM?' on all of them. I was sweating when she walked through the door, and when she saw, she almost dropped the box she was carrying.

"You have got to be kidding me."

My stomach dropped.

She opened the box to reveal a cake nestled inside, 'Will you go to prom with me?' written on in swirly icing.

"So…that's a yes?" She asked shyly.

I let out a shaky breath. "That is most definitely a yes."

Extra 1:

Dani is a rather loud, spunky character, whose bubbly nature appeals to mostly anyone. She tends to babble when she's nervous, so if she starts rattling off about bird migration patterns or different cheese facts, you can safely guess she's feeling a bit jumpy. This also highlights her love of fun facts, and why people like to choose her for trivia night.

She's known pretty much all her life she wouldn't end up with a husband, and to be honest, everyone else figured it out on their own too. She didn't have as much of a 'coming out', more of a 'confirmation' to people. She's now married to Nel, her high school sweetheart, and they have a child together.
