Pack Name: Shadows of the Night
Common Furs: Dark Grays, Blacks, and Dark Browns.

Territory: The main cave and home of the pack is in a mountain. There are many side caves in which the wolves sleep. The hunting grounds are a forest full of old, tall trees. A river runs from the top of the mountain to the Crystal Whispers, a special rock that allows the wolves to speak to their ancestors, Shadows of the Pack, or Shadows for short.

Prey:
Squirrel - 1 serving
Rabbit - 2 servings
Hare - 2 servings
Large Birds (Eagles, Falcons, and Hawks) - 3 servings
Salmon - 3 servings
Beaver - 3 servings
Deer - 6 servings

Ranks:
Commander - Leader of the pack. There is a maximum of one at a time.
Second-in-Command - Essentially the "deputy." They organize the pack into patrols and will be the next Commander if the current one leaves, retires, or dies. There is a maximum of two at a time.
Healer - Learns about how to heal their packmates with herbs. Maximum of three at a time.
Healer Trainee- They are in training to become a healer. There is a maximum of one at a time, unless there is maximum healers.
Hunters - They hunt for the pack. There can be any number of them.
Protectors - They patrol the boundaries and fight off intruders who threaten them. There can be any number of them.
Trainee - Pups training to either be hunters or protectors. There can be any number of them.
Queens - Nursing mother of pups. Do not hunt or fight, and are protected and fed by the rest. There can be any number of them.
Pups - Pups being nursed and watched by queens. Cannot begin training until 6 moons (months) of age. There can be any number of them.

Terms:
Moon/Moons: 1 moon=1 month. Moon means very full moon, since there is one full moon on average per month.

the soldiers of the cobalt tend to be a very hearty pack of wolves, and are typically very entertained by impressive displays of strength and power. because of this, it's not uncommon to find the soldiers roughhousing and wrestling in camp; in fact, that sort of behavior is encouraged. these wolves believe that if there is a problem between two packmates, that it can be resolved through combat, and therefore enforce that in-fighting is a healthy way to solve disputes. despite their violent and rowdy nature, the soldiers of the cobalt are very friendly and welcoming to other wolves joining their pack. they live in the russian wilderness, by a mountainside with a small cave system and a lake. they prey on hare, trout/salmon, large birds, raccoons/beavers, sheep/goats, deer/elk, and hogs/wild boar. the ranks are as follows:

about founding:

(( ✏︎ 'the birds led the way.' kagu tells this to all the young pups who ask him how he found their home. he'd just lost his sister to a hunter when a kagu, the bird he took his name from, flew by and he knew then that he must follow. days of running later, he came to a pass between two mountains. he continued through them, the kagu chattering at him every so often, until he busted into the wide meadow that became their home. a wolf made of clouds walked towards him, introduced himself, and was soon followed by six other cloud-wolves. after all was done, kagu took on his new name and the rank of khagan. ❖ ))

typical appearances:

(( ✏︎ the wolves in the pack are either a white, black, or red. never gray. gray pups are either killed or banished, as kagu's sister was gray and it hurts him too much to see a gray colored wolf every day. the build of the wolves of the khagante are typically very lithe and tall, as they run a lot due to their territory. their heads are typically smaller but with ears larger than is typically proportional. ❖ ))

typical personality:

(( ✏︎ the wolves here are quite prickly between ranks as the fight to get a higher rank is always open. the khagan and the khatun demand respect, though, so many wolves except the rank right below them and the rank right below that cower in their presence. they try to discourage this, but many wolves still fear them. they are welcoming to outsiders, except for gray-colored wolves, and are always looking to fill their ranks as a wolf who joins starts at the lowest rank and works their way up or gets boosted up if enough come in after them. ❖ ))

territory:

(( ✏︎ their specific territory they patrol is a wide meadow with a tiny group of trees in the southeastern corner. to the north and east there are mountains with a pass between two mountains at the northeast corner. to the south is a pine tree forest that the wolves avoid because they don't want more territory than they have because their meadow is quite large. to the west is the ocean, and they quite often spend time there to relax on the large stones that are heated in the bright sun. the meadow itself is dotted with trees and bushes with plenty of places for prey to live, but the small group of trees in the southeast corner is where the wolves' camp is. they sleep in groups beside fallen trees or under rocky outcroppings, each rank having their own designated sleeping space. young pups are allowed to venture through the large camp, but may not leave the forest into the meadow, as that's the only way out because all other sides of the camp is the side of a steep mountain that not even the strongest wolf can climb. ❖ ))

religion:

(( ✏︎ there is one main god, orthrus, is the father of three sons and three daughters. these are called the demigods, as they are truly half-gods. the three sons are arion, cerberus, and laelaps. his three daughters are delphyne, gorgon, and siren. all were named after monsters from the humans greek mythology, but they are simply wolves. these are the seven gods the wolves pray to, and they listen to everything that is said to them. orthrus is the god of the skies. arion is the demigod of speed. cerberus is the demigod of strength. laelaps is the demigod of hunting. delphyne is the demigod of perseverance. gorgon is the demigod of deception. siren is the demigod of song. ❖ ))

traditions:

(( ✏︎ the ranks are similar to that of an english kingdom, yet different. for a wolf to take a place among those of the rank above it, it must challenge a wolf of that rank. they fight, and the winner gets the rank they were fighting over. the loser falls to the lowest rank. if a wolf retires or dies, the oldest wolf of the rank below it takes the place of the retired or dead wolf without having to fight. it causes a chain reaction to where the eldest of each rank below that moves up each rank unless they specifically go to the khagan and request that a different wolf is promoted. each time a wolf loses a challenge, they receive a large scar along their ribs to mark them forever that they lost. ❖ ))

• princes/princesses - indeterminable amount but not many; prince - male; princess - female; children of the khagan and khatun. the oldest prince is the official heir of the khagan and spends his time shadowing him to learn. the others also shadow the khagan but they will be given a rank once the oldest prince is named khagan.
• healer - up to three wolves; any gender; they heal the khagante, and are allowed to have pups unlike many packs; highest rank for wolves who want to heal.
• lords/ladies of the quickfeet - two wolves; either gender; leader of the group of wolves who hunt and helps with khagan; highest rank for non-royalty.
• lords/ladies of the steelclaws - two wolves; either gender; leader of the group of wolves who protect and patrol the territory and helps khagan; highest rank for non-royalty.
• quickfeet - unlimited; either gender; the wolves who specifically hunt; next step up is lord/lady of quickfeet.
• steelclaws - unlimited; either gender; the wolves who specifically patrol and fight; next step up is lord/lady of steelclaws.
• healer-to-be - one at a time; either gender; a young wolf who is training to be a healer; next step up is healer.
• softfeet - unlimited; either gender; young wolves or former pup-watchers who are training to be quickfeet; next step up is quick foot.
• softclaws - unlimited; either gender; young wolves or former pup-watchers who are training to be steelclaws; next step up is steelclaw.
• pup-watchers - three; either gender; wolves who stay with pups while their mother tends to her duties as a member of the khagante; next step up is softclaw or softfeet, they get to choose.
• pups - unlimited; either gender; wolves too young to train.
• moss-gatherer - one; either gender; newest member of the pack or the wolf who failed in a challenge; next step up is pup-watcher.❖ ))

Renvu sits next to Sentashi as she lays in their den, Oak running back and forth between their den and his. "Why don't you go do your duties for the day? I will be fine..." she urged as her face twisted with pain for a moment. "No, I want to be with you. This is important..." Renvu replied lovingly. He nuzzled her cheek, his paw rested on hers. "I'll be fine. Oak will take care of me, so don't worry." she said, licking his ear. Renvu looked at Sentashi, about to protest, but sighed in defeat. "Fine. But I'll be back as quick as I can to meet the youngest members of the pack." He said, standing. Sentashi laughed. "You think there will be more than one?" she inquired with a smile. "I believe the moon will grace us with more." Renvu said before turning and leaving, nodding in trust to Oak as he hurried back to their den.

Note to mod: Whoops! Simple math is getting harder when I'm tired. Thanks for catching that! If you could roll for blindness and disabilities, that would be great! Here are the odds I figured you can use: Chance for blindness could be anywhere from 5%-100% (100% if both parents are blind) and often disabilities are about 10%. If it would be easier, I can give chance of blindness in the wolf descriptions as well, or you can tell me.
