When applying an edit item (i.e. A granola bar from the summer event), do you need to ask for permission before applying it to your kalon? I know it needs approval after being applied, but do you need to give some sort of heads up...?

You do not need permission to add an edit to your kalon; the only real "exception" is if you use a legendary edit to apply a gene splice that hasn't been done before. You need clearance from one of the admins for a new gene splice.

Nope! It will be added to our archives by our archivist. However, if you are planning to trade your Kalon, rename them, add edits to them, etc., please refer to our Kalon Archive Update Thread for the correct forms!

For any trade to happen, you have to fill out the correct form on our Kalon Archive Update Thread! Please be sure to review our rules before doing so, however, as there are cooldowns you have to be aware of! In short, yes, users are allowed to gift and trade Kalons, MYO slots, and items.

Im a bit out of the loop on Kalons and all, but I had a question.
I have a common MYO I bought, and 15 hms. Can I use the HMs to upgrade the common MYO to an uncommon MYO?
Since 15 hms = common myo = $10
and to upgrade a common myo to an uncommon myo its $10
can I trade them in?

a narwhal horn is essentially like a unicorn horn, so it would be a rare horn edit. tusks are considered tooth edits.
