The tail has a brain, and it needs to eat and drink. However, it cannot control itself, and instead, the stellastratus has to move it's tail around in order for the tail to feed. It isn't connected to the Stellastratus's digestive system, meaning the tail can't eat food and the Stellastratus will be fed too. They have to eat separately. The Stellastratus uses its tail as a weapon too.
