Recently discovered, pruvians are an ancient magic-based species originating from forest habitats. They
are lean, athletic creatures that resemble the modern-day cheetah, but have large ears used for communication and
detecting magical energies. They’re an average of 36 inches tall at the shoulders and they possess near-human
intelligence. Most individuals have black tongues, and their diet is consistently omnivorous.

Pruvians are docile and don’t mind forming friendships with species outside of their own. They have no trouble
mimicking the languages of other species, though something as complex as human speech is a bit difficult for some to
master. When speaking to one another, pruvians tend to communicate through wavelengths of magic that are only
detectable by their own ears.

Pruvian jewelry is the most defining trait of this species. It’s difficult to say what sort of material the jewels are
made out of, but before a magic sync, they are a grey color. Jewelry made with these stones are given to young
pruvians as an initiation into adulthood. Once placed on the pruvian’s tail, the gems automatically detect their
magic and absorb it, turning into whatever color of magic the pruvian possesses. If a pruvian doesn’t have magical
abilities, the gems remain grey.

Pruvians without any jewelry are always associated with dark magic. They cannot wear any jewelry, for the jewels
shatter and disintegrate when they try to sync. Most of those unfortunate enough to be born with dark magic go
into hiding if they can escape the other members of its species. Pruvian magic is meant to positively influence
the environment, but dark magic is erratic and only causes destruction. Typically, this type of magic has an oily,
inky coloration, distorting the appearance of things seen through it.

The tail jewelry is traditional and there are almost no other variations to it except for those with enhanced abilities.
These pruvians are incredibly rare, and their magic is so potent that they must wear additional jewelry in order to
keep it under control. Luckily, there is no such thing as an excessively-jeweled pruvian with dark magic, for the jewels will keep
breaking and the sheer power of the dark magic will eventually consume the animal.
