Welcome to Paxunium.

Postby Ɽotten Ⱡegacy » Wed Jun 20, 2018 8:49 am

Feel free to ask me about anything here! I'd be more than happy to answer :D
I've been working on this story and its characters since 8/7/2017, as far as I can tell. That's when its main document was created on my computer, anyway.
I've been wanting to share it with someone else for a long time; my sister already knows everything about it, and we're even trying to start a roleplay between us and a few other friends on Skype. But..she's really unreliable for things like this. It's been over seven months since she's posted anything, but I have been talking to her about it in person.
So, yeah. I just wanted to make this stuff public so other people can leave their thoughts on it.
This will take me a while...

HUMANS WEREN'T ALWAYS ALONE ON EARTH.

Centuries ago, they lived together with another race, one that would eventually leave Earth and find a world of their own. This race was known as paxunians. There were also many other creatures that none of us remember now; fossils of such creatures have been discovered by today's race and deemed fake by those who didn't know what else to say. The paxunians were naturally stronger than the humans, and some of them were even able to take in magic from the air. Determined to prove they were superior, humans tried multiple experiments on the coros, attempting to get magic of their own. As much as the paxunians tried to stop them, the humans simply ignored their warnings. Eventually, these experiments caused the coros to go extinct. The paxunians were so furious and horrified that they joined up to find a different planet for themselves, where they vowed no creature would be driven to extinction. Twenty-three of their strongest sorcerers joined together to create a wormhole to a different part of the universe. All the paxunians followed them, along with some of the more unusual creatures. They named their planet Paxunium.

Paxunium is divided up into five continents and eight kingdoms, most of which have a paxunian leader. Most species can communicate with each other through a combination of spoken language, sign language, body language, and telepathy.

But now, creatures are disappearing left and right in large numbers. The baswi are on the brink of extinction, and the paltingus aren't doing much better. It seems like only a human would be cruel enough to cause this, but it's been years since any human was seen in Paxunium...

SPECIES IN PAXUNIUM
Note: I can safely say that I've spent more time developing the species of this world than anything else. I came up with these designs and names on my own, so if it's similar to something else you've seen, that's entirely a coincidence. I apologize in advance if anything here is similar to one of your characters or stories. I really don't want to change anything here, so maybe we can work something out if our stories are too similar.

Slitfe
Pronunciation: Slit-fee
Leader: Blodmyst (pronounced sort of like blodd-mist)
(massive, male, gray-and-white, yellow eyes, king cobra tail)

Image

--Slitfes are built like huge tigers. They have snakes for tails; the slitfe can control the snake as easily as it can control its own paw. When a slitfe is born, its tail is also a baby snake. The snake grows as the slitfe does, although strangely enough, it doesn't need food.
-From the size of a horse to the size of a bus, tail not included--their tails can be 3-7 feet.
-Ranking and social status are based on size. Larger slitfes are looked up to (pun intended) and are typically the ideal choice for leaders, while smaller ones are generally given terrible jobs and treated like an entirely different species.
-Despite being built like a tiger, they can always have the coloring of a domestic cat; this includes things like tortoiseshell, calico, and point markings.
-The snake can be any breed known to humans, and they still have their venom.
-Some believe that a slitfe with a baswi for a tail is possible, but it's never happened.

Cadynek
Pronunciation: Cuh-die-nick
Leader: Veldai (pronounced vell-day)
(male, pictured below)

Image

--Cadyneks are basically lizards with feathered wings, and feathers everywhere but their feet and head. They have a larger feather, usually darker in color, at the end of their tails.
-From the size of your hand to the size of a cat
-ANY color. The feathers are always in the same spectrum as scales (if the scales are green, the feathers will be some shade of green), and their eyes are black.
-They have venom in their teeth--it eats away at the skin, much like the venom of a brown recluse. The cure isn't easy to come by, and depending on where the scratch is, it can kill you as soon as a week from the attack.
-They will only attack you if they feel threatened, but they're easy to miss and you might accidentally step on one. You have to watch your step, as cadyneks can live anywhere.

Baswi
Pronunciation: Boss-wee for singular, boss-why for plural. Same spelling.
Leader: Menari (men-are-ee)
(10ft, female, dark red, white horn)

Image

-Basically? Snakes with bat-like wings. Some can have mostly transparent wings, but it's very rare. These baswi are commonly known as 'glasswing baswi'.
-3-22 feet in length. Average wingspan is about five feet, but longer baswi = bigger wingspan.
-Their color usually blends in with their surroundings, so usually brown or earthy tones. Nothing too unrealistic has been seen, maybe white or dull purple could work. But you're not going to find a hot pink or neon blue baswi.
-Most live in heavily forested areas, but some live in volcanic regions. Not many live on Pekada.
-All baswi are treated equally, regardless of length, wing size, gender, etc. Leaders are chosen based on personality, not physical attributes. Also, no baswi have any kind of venom.
-Females have a horn on their noses.

Reija
Pronunciation: Ray-jah (same singular and plural...loVE ME)
Leader: Jehad (jay-hod)
(male, pictured below)

Image

-They have the build of cats, but...dragon wings...ugh, so original.
-They can be anywhere from the size of a brick to a medium-sized dog, but smaller ones usually don't live that long.
-Again, their colors usually blend in with their surroundings; sand-colored, gray, black, brown, and orange are common.
-Reija live only on Pekada. They have a natural immunity to fire and other forms of heat due to their habitat; you could kill a reija by throwing it into Mount Rorag, of course, but touching hot volcanic rock and scorching sand just doesn't bother them.
-Their skin is very tough; it's difficult to draw blood unless you have the claws of a reija.
-Reija, while intimidating and fiery in appearance, are surprisingly good with plants. In the past, some reija had huge gardens of cacti and other desert plants. They were the caretakers and guardians of the gerenna trees. (view 'Scraps' document)
-Before Jehad was born, poachers started to invade Pekada. They hunted the reija for their tough, heat-resistant skin and their powerful claws, and destroyed the gerenna trees by taking all of their leaves. Although it was highly illegal and went against everything Paxunium stood for, the poachers eventually drove the reija to the brink of extinction. Now Jehad is the last known reija.
-Reija can live for a long time, much longer than normal cats.

Fizar
Pronunciation: Feez-are
Leader: Spyre (just like the word "spire")
(female, pure white, pale blue pupils and emerald green irises)

Image

-Fizars are like foxes, but ICE. They have a mane of icicles that runs halfway down their back, and ice spikes on the tip of their tails.
-The tail spikes can be used as weapons, and their breath feels like you just opened a freezer. The spike on the end of their tail looks like it would be heavy, but it weighs almost nothing. It still hurts if you get whacked in the face, of course.
-Fizar colors are usually white, mint green, ice blue, and the occasional lavender. Fizars with dark fur are very rare, and usually avoided because they're easy to spot in the snow, making it difficult to hunt. Their eyes can be any color between green and purple, and their pupils are any shade of blue rather than black.
-Their scratches feel like you're being cut with an icicle. The area around the wound will drop rapidly in temperature, and the cold will eventually spread to the rest of the body, freezing you to death within 24 hours. The cure for this is in the roots of the onnjyla flower, you have to grind them up to a powder and sprinkle it on the wound. It stings, but it will stop the cold immediately, and the cut will heal like a normal one.
-Fizars are very peaceful, and only fight if you attack first. Most will even let strangers come up and pet them. If you anger a fizar, you will see its icy mane spike up, and it might try to bash you with its tail before using its claws. That's usually a sign that you should leave before you get seriously hurt.
-They can't live in climates that are over forty degrees Fahrenheit.

Tevsin
Pronunciation: Tehv-seen
Leader: Ipur (like "Piper" without the first P; "eye-purr".)
(male, pictured below)

Image

-Tevsins are rabbits the size of horses, and they're often used as mounts or for transportation the same way horses are. They have two long tails with tufts at the ends.
-Can be any natural color, some have unique and unusual markings. This includes their tails.
-There aren't many wild tevsins, most are owned by paxunians. This might be because they don't have many natural forms of defense, so it's not very difficult to kill one. They're often seen as easy prey by slitfes.
-They typically live in plains areas, as deserts are too hot for their liking and forests make jumping difficult.
-They can jump really high, and angle their bodies so they fall faster--if one lands on you, it would break a few bones if you were lucky. You'd most likely die.
-Their eye color can change throughout their life. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this; the change usually happens over a period of one month, so it's difficult to notice at first. No one knows if there's a limit to how many times their eye color can change.

Leafine
Pronunciation: I would guess it's obvious...just LEE-FINE
Leader: Ivy (if you don't know how to pronounce "Ivy" I can't help you :'))
(female, dark gray-brown, matching leaf ears)

Image

-Imagine a cross between a tree and a wolf--that's a leafine. Their fur has the color and texture of wood, so they blend in very well with their surroundings. (you can get "splinters", but only if you pet them the wrong way. I'm not sure why you'd be petting a leafine anyway.) They also have leaves at random places on their bodies. If you have leaves on both ears, you're more likely to be chosen as a leader.
-Their eyes can only be green. Just...just shades of green.
-As you can imagine, they live in forested areas. The color of their fur depends on what kind of trees they live near, and no two leafines look exactly the same. It's easiest to tell two leafines apart by the placement of the leaves on their bodies.

Aquine
Pronunciation: Basically "equine" but with an "ah" sound instead of "e"
Leaders: Orca (male, blue-gray, reddish eyes)
Piranha (female, pictured below)
Tidepool (male, white with faint blue swirls, green eyes)

Image

-As you can imagine, aquines are similar to leafines, just water-based rather than tree-based. They look less like wolves, though. They have gills and their tails are better for swimming.
-They don't have fur or scales, and their skin can be any color that is close to their surroundings. Gray-blue to match the rocks, pink to match the coral, black to match the..I don't know. Black to match the darkness of the ocean? To put it simply, their skin color is based on the surroundings when they're born.
-You can tell individual aquines apart by their markings. Again, no two look exactly the same. Some have faint swirls, some have freckles, some have teardrop markings like a cheetah.
-They will eat anything that comes into their reach, anything but their own species. They rarely make friends that aren't aquines. They have razor-sharp teeth and claws, and hunt alone.
-Unlike leafines, they live in packs. (hahah--packs...pax--STOP IT) Their packs have three leaders, all of which lead the group with equal authority. All three leaders have to agree on something before it can happen. The leaders are chosen through voting.
-The aquines chose the 'three leaders' thing because of a cruel paxunian leader who nearly started a world war when he ruled Turuz. If there was only one leader, that leader could be evil. So, to prevent something like that from happening, the aquines decided to have three leaders for each pack, and three leaders for the species as a whole.
-Leafines and aquines are mortal enemies. Some legends say that they used to all be land-dwelling; a traitor was chased into the sea and presumed dead, but he instead survived and was the first of the aquines. Some legends say the opposite. There isn't really any concrete evidence to support either of these stories.

Myn
Pronunciation: Min...like mint but without the T. Win with an M. You get the picture.
Leader: Alis (ah-leess...sort of like "a lease"?)
(female, pictured below)

Image

-Myns have the build of a leopard with the markings of a tiger. They also have hooves and antlers.
-Their eyes can be anything from dark red to pale blue. This includes shades of purple and pink. The tips of their antlers fade into their eye color.
-Their fur can be neutral colors like black, gray, grayish-brown, and white. The antlers can be any shade of gray or grayish-brown (except for the tips, as I mentioned above)
-They eat plants and meat. Their teeth are terrible for hunting and fighting (most prefer stuff like berries), but but even the weakest ones have a kick powerful enough to easily break bones.
-It would be possible for a myn to be raised eating meat, and be strictly carnivorous/have powerful teeth and jaws, but their parents would have to be pretty dedicated to that, and realize the consequences if their child started a carnivorous family. (it's kind of looked down upon to do anything like that--they're already dangerous and territorial enough without actively hunting other animals and having strong, sharp teeth.)
-They live in the snowy forests of north and east Inir, where they blend in a lot better, but some can live in arctic plains like Donmaki. Most are very territorial and aggressive; if you see one, don't let it see you. You might run into an especially docile or friendly one, but the chances are very slim, so it's a better idea to avoid them at all costs.

Paltingu
Pronunciation: Paul-teen-goo
Leader: Yapalir (yah-paul-err?)
(male, pictured below; bronze anklet with diamond)

Image

-Paltingus are massive and powerful birds. Most could probably take on a slitfe without breaking a sweat...I mean..if they could sweat, that is. Most are also large enough to comfortably carry an average-sized domestic cat.
-The most common colors are pale/pastel shades like Yapalir and Kyri have. It's not too uncommon to see a deep green or even black paltingu, but the darker the color, the more unique the paltingu. Most have wings and tail feathers that gradually fade into a darker color, but very rarely you might find one whose wings and tail feathers fade into a lighter color.
-They can live anywhere, but most prefer neutral or cold climates. Desert and volcanic paltingus are pretty rare. A lot of paltingus' colors match their environment, so volcanic ones (which are usually black/orange/dark red) are much more rare than desert ones (which are usually white/yellow/orange). In fact, there are only a handful of known volcanic paltingus.
-All are given anklets at a young age, usually made from gold, silver, or bronze. If this anklet is removed in any way, they will become significantly weaker. They won't be able to fly or fight as well, and can easily get killed by a hostile animal. If the anklet is destroyed, that's it--the paltingu will stay like that forever. If it's not destroyed, it's possible for the bird to retrieve it and put it back on, regaining his or her strength. Or they could simply have a new one made, but that's not an easy thing to do, as the gems are difficult to come by and enchanting them requires quite a bit of power.
-Most paltingu parents teach their fledglings to fly before getting an anklet made for them; this is so they will probably still be able to fly if they ever lose their anklet, and so they know how much effort and strength it would take without the anklet.
-If a paltingu has a neglectful parent or is orphaned at a young age, he or she probably won't end up getting an anklet unless someone else takes them in.
-A paltingu's anklet has to be made by another paltingu. You couldn't make one for yourself; if you didn't have one, the strength required to make it would be more than you'd have. The material is usually chosen based on the paltingu's personality and social status. It's quite common for the eldest child to receive a gold anklet. An especially famous or rich paltingu might request an anklet made entirely out of diamond, although that would cost a fortune.
-A few are used as messengers by paxunians, but those are looked down on and seen as weak or inferior, as paltingus are a very proud species. If you desire a paltingu's aid, you'll probably have to do a fair amount of bargaining and bribing, especially if you want them to carry someone. Offering raw, unenchanted gems or materials like gold, silver, and bronze will probably give you the best chance of getting them to do what you want.
-Paltingus who lose their anklets tend to stay in a cave somewhere, or go to someone for protection or help finding their anklet.
-It's the gem in a paltingu's anklet that holds their power. If someone were to take the gem out without removing the anklet, the paltingu would still lose his or her power. The material the anklet is made of doesn't seem to affect the paltingu's strength. I mean, you could just tie the gem around their talon with a piece of string and it would function the same, but..that wouldn't be very effective, as it would probably break really easily. Some think that the stronger the material, the stronger the anklet's power, but that theory hasn't been confirmed.

Azodvyr
Pronunciation: uh-zodd-veer
Leader: Eko (ee-koh)
(female, pictured below)

Image

-Azodvyrs live primarily in forests and jungles, especially the jungles of Inir. Their long tails help them to balance.
-They are covered in thin fur, except for their tails which are exceptionally fluffy.
-They are nocturnal, and their pupils are usually dilated to let in as much light as possible. During the day, they sleep in their nests, which are usually high above the ground in their favorite trees. Some live in caves or burrows.
-They make weird, high-pitched screaming noises, much like a fennec fox. They can also chirp, which is often used to imitate a bird and lure in prey.
-Their claws help them to grip onto the trees, hunt, and attack when necessary.
-Their eyes seem to noticeably glow in the dark, and are always a bright color.
-Azodvyrs are quite territorial, but if you're intruding on their territory, they'll usually just scream at you until you leave--if you don't leave, then they'll attack you.
-Most are about the size of a large dog. Their sizes don't vary that much--in very rare cases, you'll find one that's unusually small or large. Newborns are about the size of a kitten, and they grow very quickly. Smaller azodvyrs usually have less markings, and might even be solid-colored.
-Their legs are powerful, helping them to leap long distances; their arms are quite weak in comparison. They tend to stand on their legs, as shown above. It's pretty uncommon to see an azodvyr on all fours unless one of its legs is wounded.
-An azodvyr's vertical leap can be up to five times its height.
-As for coloring, their fur is similar to a myn's--mostly neutral colors like black, gray, white, and brown. Some can have a greenish or darker brown tint, which helps them to blend in better. Splashes like Eko's are common, but some can have more organized markings like stripes or rings.

Hallat
Pronunciation: hal-ett
Leader: Similarly to aquines, hallats don't have just one leader for the whole species. Unlike aquines, they have four leaders; one on each of their survivable continents. So there's one in Oman, Turuz, Inir, and Pekada.
From left to right, top to bottom, they are Atayan, Mohkata, Mezone, and Urrcu.
(uh-tie-an, moh-kot-uh, meh-zone-ay, and err-soo)

Image Image
Image Image

-Hallats usually live underground, whether that means an earthy tunnel or a stone cave. The entrances to their homes are usually just big enough for the average rat to squeeze through. They don't like extreme temperatures, so most live in Oman, Turuz, or Inir. There are some that live in Pekada, too, but none would ever choose to live in Donmaki.
-Their claws are strong and sharp, good for digging and the occasional fight. They will dig their own burrows if they can't find anywhere to live, but they prefer not to.
-They can see relatively well in the dark, but they rely more on their good hearing and long whiskers to navigate through their tunnels. Their eyes are fairly sensitive to bright light, so if they must venture outside, it will likely be at night or in a shaded area.
-They typically live in large groups consisting mostly of family and friends; they're not often friendly to unfamiliar hallats. They're very territorial and overprotective, but will hesitate to fight intruders. If worse comes to worst, they will attack as a group, swarming their opponent. This is usually the only way they can be effective in a fight anyway, since they're so small.
-They'll eat most food that comes their way, which means their diet consists largely of bugs. This leaves their teeth fairly weak, so they use their claws and horns to fight. In especially dire situations, they might choose kill and eat a larger animal like a , but they'd have to really be starving to abandon their non confrontational nature and risk their lives.
-They tend to all sleep in a big pile together, especially in the colder months.
-Sometimes a group will live in a paxunian's house, hidden away in the basement. This is quite uncommon, though, due to their usual unwillingness to communicate with most species besides their own. It's more of a last resort, if their caves happen to be flooded or something.
-As for coloring, it's just the usual: Blacks, grays, browns, all that. Some can be dark or largely desaturated shades of colors like blue, green, and red. Basically, nothing too vibrant. Markings can be whatever--stripes, spots..anything that looks natural is probably a safe bet. Just look at the leaders for reference. Although both of these colors are natural for them, you're not going to find a black-and-white striped hallat. Two or three similar shades of their base color are probably the max amount you'll see.
-Horns vary from hallat to hallat. Some have shorter but sharper horns; some have longer but duller horns. Some have more than others. Some don't even have any. None have ever been seen with more than five. Only one detail about their horns has been consistent: They're always somewhere on the top of the head.

PAXUNIUM'S LAND
This is currently under some huge development because I'm working on making some big changes to the map, to make it more realistic and less boring. So for right now, I'm not going to include any of the description for each continent, only the leaders and how the land is divided.

OMAN
oh-mahn
Oman is divided into two kingdoms, East and West Oman. East Oman is ruled by Saevgin, and West Oman is ruled by Korel.

INIR
in-ear
Inir is divided into three kingdoms: East, West, and North Inir. The rulers of those kingdoms are Niyea, Azuruk, and Qisi respectively.

PEKADA
pay-kod-uh
Pekada is only one kingdom. There has never been a paxunian ruler; it has always been a reija. So the current leader of Pekada is Jehad.

DONMAKI
doen-mok-ee
Donmaki's only leader is Wex.

TURUZ
tuh-rooz
Turuz is ruled by Disari.

And I also decided to recolor the paltingu sprite to make three paltingus other than Kyri and Yapalir.
Image
Asilena and Solema are sisters, and they're the two paltingus that guarded Ledania while Jehad was out searching for Hellis. Vordun is kind of a free character, just an idea of what a volcanic paltingu would look like.

I thought that was fun, so I recolored them again to make Kyri's siblings. I will not be naming them unless it's absolutely necessary, because I already have well over 50 named characters here ;-;

My Characters / Assorted information

Postby Ɽotten Ⱡegacy » Thu Jun 28, 2018 8:55 am

Note: I'm not going to bother listing my human character, because his personality and everything is very unfinished. I'm terrible at designing human OCs. Also, this section is only labeled "my characters" because these are the characters I would have controlled in the roleplay.

Image
NAME: Jehad
AGE: Unknown
SPECIES: Reija
GENDER: Male
APPEARANCE IN WORDS: Very small, black with white chest, ice-blue eyes
PERSONALITY: Constantly very stressed and sleep deprived. His job is to guard the last gerenna tree. That's why he hardly gets any sleep--he has to constantly make sure that the nisi don't take it and the poachers don't find it. He feels constant remorse and bitterness over the loss of his family, especially his sister. He blames himself for her death, and believes that he should have died in her place. Something I drew of him
HISTORY: His species has been illegally hunted to the brink of extinction by a large group of poachers, due to their sharp claws and strong heat resistance of their skin. When he was very young, he went out hunting with his younger sister, Tinq. When he came back, he saw his parents cornered by a group of poachers. His mother saw them and told them to fly away as fast as he could. One of them tried to shoot at Jehad, but Tinq dove in front of the arrow so it hit her instead--she ended up getting killed. He never saw any of them again. Not even he knows if there are any other reija left. He's searched everywhere he can, but he appears to be the only one.
IN A RELATIONSHIP: No
CRUSH: None
FAMILY: His mother was named Lernea, his father was Char, and his younger sister was Tinq.
LIVES IN: Ledania, the cave that contains the last gerenna tree. This cave is on the furthest corner of Pekada, far from its volcano. Its distance from the volcano is one of the only reasons that the gerenna survived the eruption.
OTHER: When he was a kitten, he had a baswi friend named Falleru. After his family was killed, he went to Falleru's family looking for a place to stay. Falleru would have been okay with this, but his parents turned Jehad away because they didn't want Falleru to be in danger.

Image
NAME: Cira (seer-uh)
AGE: If she was a human, she'd be around fourteen
SPECIES: Fizar
GENDER: Female
APPEARANCE IN WORDS: Unnaturally dark blue fur, white pupils/pale violet irises.
PERSONALITY: She doesn't have many friends, and no one ever wants to hunt with her because "prey could see her from a mile away". She's socially awkward, but eager to make friends. She likes most other species, prefers to hang out with arctic-dwelling cadyneks because they don't judge her by her fur color. She doesn't approach myns for obvious reasons. Because of her outgoing personality, she's been attacked by a few unfriendly cadyneks--luckily, she's smart enough to realize when to run away. She's met a few leafines, but not many live in the cold, so it's more of a "I saw you in the forest when I was near the edge of the tundra" thing. She only has one close friend, a snowy leafine named Plink.
HISTORY: Cira was always an outcast due to her dark fur, because it contrasts so much with the white snow. She was rejected by her father, but her mother cared for her. Her father was killed by a myn when she was young. He and Cira were never very close, but her mother was devastated. Trali is still alive, but since Cira is old enough to look out for herself, they don't see each other much anymore.
IN A RELATIONSHIP: No
CRUSH: A pale blue fizar named Palo
FAMILY: Her father (Karlan) is dead, her mother (Trali) is alive. She has no siblings. Karlan was pure white with dark blue pupils/teal irises, Trali is pale blue with white markings and medium blue pupils/pale green irises.
LIVES IN: North Inir
OTHER: Nah

Image
NAME: Kyri (kye-ree)
AGE: ~16 if he was a human
SPECIES: Paltingu
GENDER: Male
APPEARANCE IN WORDS: Icy blue with white chest, dark red eyes. His anklet is gold, embedded with an amethyst. He also has a necklace that was given to him by a paxunian who was basically family to him, it's a black cord with an amethyst pendant. Black talons and beak.
PERSONALITY: Naive and outgoing, very willing to make friends. He doesn't actually talk that much, just shows affection with gifts and playful gestures. Some paltingus see Kyri as weak or inferior because he lives with a paxunian, but his feelings are not easily hurt. He's always willing to see the good in others before the bad. He was raised in a cold climate, so he prefers the cold, but he can stand it in some pretty hot temperatures; nothing volcanic, but he could last a day or so in Pekada's deserts. He's not the best flier, but can still outmaneuver a hostile cadynek or baswi.
HISTORY: Kyri was the biggest of his siblings, and the bravest. One night when he was very young, he decided to explore the tree their nest was in. His siblings were sleeping, and his father was gathering food for the next day. Now, paltingus are heavy, even as fledglings. They hadn't learned to fly yet. He stepped onto a dead branch, not realizing anything was wrong until it started to crack--and before he could react, he was falling. It was a tall tree, and he broke one of his wings on the way down. He cries for help until a paxunian discovers him. The paxunian (Gansanu) takes him home and starts to mend his wing. At this point, Kyri had his anklet.
IN A RELATIONSHIP: No
CRUSH: None...as of now ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
FAMILY: He had three brothers and two sisters. His mother left before they hatched, so they were raised by his father. He barely remembers any of them.
LIVES IN: Donmaki
OTHER: One of his best friends is an aquine named Larimar. Although he was never told this, his necklace actually has magical properties. Gansanu took it to a paltingu who could bind it to Kyri's anklet. So if Kyri ever loses his anklet, the necklace will subtly pull him towards it. Not physically. He'll just--have a feeling, you know? An "I don't know why, but I really feel like I need to go this way" sort of thing.

NAME: Hellis (hell-iss)
AGE: Three years (at the time of her returning to Paxunium)
SPECIES: Reija
GENDER: Female
APPEARANCE IN WORDS: Cream-and-white tabby with dark green eyes, black claws
PERSONALITY: Even while trapped in an unfamiliar world, and with danger lurking around every corner, Hellis still believes that she will eventually get to return to Pekada. While she may not seem like the best company, she is actually quite good with words, and loves to tell stories. If she doesn't like someone's words or actions, she won't hesitate to speak up against them. She doesn't cause trouble, but she's more than happy to fight when a challenge comes her way--she loves the thrill of a battle. When fighting, she relies more on trickery than brute force. Sand in the eyes? Using the sun to blind her enemies? Just her style. I don't want to make this section too long, but her personality type is ENFP (Campaigner).
HISTORY: When she was a few months old, she was playing near Urk River and fell in. She was swept into a portal, and ended up on a busy street corner somewhere on Earth. She caused a scene--luckily she knew how to fly, so no one caught her. She kept flying, still thinking she was somewhere in Paxunium, but after a few days and no sign of any slitfes or baswi, she gave up. She found an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere and rested. Then its sole inhabitant discovered her. The cat who lives there doesn't have a name; Hellis calls him Tahua because he reminds her of her best friend back in Paxunium. After the initial panic, they became close friends.
IN A RELATIONSHIP: No..t yet :)
CRUSH: Tahua
FAMILY: She barely remembers her parents, and she didn't have any siblings. She will eventually have four kits with Tahua, named Varrius, Alastrine, Onsyto, and Vicu. Varrius is a red mackerel tabby with pale blue eyes (male, no wings but has the same fire-resistant fur), Alastrine is chocolate tortoiseshell-and-white with amber eyes (female, wings but no fire resistance), Onsyto is a cream classic tabby with dark blue-gray eyes (male, wings and fire resistance), and Vicu is a brown mackerel tabby with teal eyes (female, no wings, no fire resistance).
LIVES IN: Earth, as of now.
OTHER: Ehh.

Sheesh, this thing is getting long. But I still have more!
Hey, there's a lot to do when you're trying to create an entire planet from scratch.

INFO ON GERENNA TREES
In the present time, poachers are invading Pekada. They are hunting the reija for their tough heat-resistant skin and their powerful teeth and claws. They are taking all the leaves from every gerenna they find. Paxunians aren't aware of the connections between the gerennae and the reija, otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't be so destructive...right?
Due to the language barrier between Jehad and the paxunians, he has no way of communicating the importance of the last gerenna. There are paxunians who speak the reija language, but Jehad can't risk leaving Ledania to find one.
Gerennae are ancient trees native to Pekada. They share a very strong and very important connection to the reija.
They used to thrive in Pekada's deserts, but since the reija were hunted, they gradually started to disappear.
The reija were the only inhabitants of Pekada with the will and ability to defend the trees from the nisi, large scorpions that eat gerenna leaves. And when I say large..I mean these scorpions can be the size of dinner plates.
The nisi eat gerenna leaves for the venom in them. Normally their venom is quite mild, but (don't ask me how because I don't know) eating the leaves strengthens it to an almost lethal level.
Nisi are sand-colored, as you might expect, often with black markings. The easiest way to tell them apart is by the markings they have. They don't appear to have any leaders or society, they just kind of exist wherever, like most other bugs.
Thankfully, the poachers don't know that the nisi eat gerenna leaves. If they did, they could follow the scorpions straight to Ledania.
Even if the other creatures living on Pekada had any reason to defend the gerennae, they wouldn't be able to. The nisi are just too strong. But the reija...the reija were stronger.
For each reija, there is one gerenna tree. The gerenna is planted at the same time the reija is born, and it grows two leaves for each year the reija has been alive. If the reija dies, the leaves will stop growing. If the tree is destroyed, the reija will remain, but it won't be possible to grow another gerennae for them.
Due to the poachers, there is only one living reija left on Pekada--Jehad. There is also only one gerenna that remains untouched by the poachers. This gerenna is not Jehad's; it belonged to Esan, the leader before him. She was very old, so the gerenna has many leaves, but it's not going to grow any more. Jehad hardly gets any sleep trying to protect the gerenna from the nisi and ensure that the poachers don't find it. This gerenna is located in Ledania, a cave at the northern end of Pekada.
I suppose I should explain why gerennae are important; why the poachers take their leaves.
Gerenna leaves are rather strange. Part of them contains lethal poison, but the other part has strong healing power. The two effects cancel each other out. The poison must somehow be extracted before the leaf will heal anyone, and likewise, the antidote must be removed before the leaf will become harmful at all. The reija know how to do this, but it is a closely guarded secret. In the past, if you needed a gerenna leaf, you would have to ask a reija for one. Pekada used to be heavily guarded. You had to have permission to even be on the island, and stealing a gerenna leaf was considered a personal offense to the reija the tree belonged to. Now, with only one reija, that is no longer the case; their walls have crumbled to sand, their cities are nothing but ruins, and the last remaining gerenna must be protected from thieves and murderers.
The paxunians have been trying to figure out how to separate the poison from the healing, but they haven't really made any progress.
Gerennae are relatively small trees, and their bark is pure black. Their leaves are like frosted glass; mostly transparent, but a frosty white near the center. The leaves are vaguely diamond-shaped, and quite fragile--if you were to crush one, it would crumble in your hands like a dead leaf. Oddly enough, a dead leaf would act the opposite; if you crushed a dead leaf, if would just crumple up like a normal leaf. Normally a gerenna leaf doesn't taste like anything. The healing part tastes a bit sweet, and the poison tastes mildly bitter.
A gerenna leaf will shrivel up and turn yellow a few days after being picked, if not preserved properly. After this happens, it has nothing in it; no poison and no healing. Dead leaves taste a little bitter, more so than the poison.
Really, it's hard to consider gerennae trees at all; they don't require water, soil, or even sunlight to live and grow. As long as its reija remains alive, it will still grow. Once the reija dies, the gerenna becomes unnaturally still--the bark becomes hard as obsidian and the leaves stop growing. You couldn't even break off the thinnest twig. Gerennae without reija are often referred to as dead gerennae.
Fire obliterates gerenna leaves like paper, but the bark is much stronger--nearly fireproof. In fact, it's so strong that gerenna wood is often used in certain tools, or sometimes just displayed on shelves and walls as a symbol of strength.
Mount Rorag (Pekada's volcano) erupted some time before Jehad was born; many gerennae had their leaves burned away, and many reija died. As a result, there weren't as many reija when the poachers started to invade Pekada.

Additional clarification and assorted bits of information:
- I think Jehad eats the nisi he kills. Maybe that would normally be dangerous, but after a few much-needed doses of gerenna healing (calm down, the gerenna has a lot of leaves) he built up a sort of immunity to them. Maybe the nisi had stopped coming for a few days, and he was hungry, so he risked leaving Ledania for just long enough to find some food--and that's when he found Hellis' gerenna with a single leaf on it. The rest is history...
- Hellis' gerenna, as you might expect, was planted right after she was born. All of its leaves were taken when the poachers found it, and since a leaf only grows once every six months, it wasn't obvious that the reija it belonged to was still alive. Jehad hardly leaves Ledania for fear of coming back to discover Esan's gerenna stripped of its leaves, but he found Hellis' gerenna one day.
- Varrius, Alastrine, and Vicu's gerennae are different from the others--not defective or useless, just unique and easily recognizable. This is because none of the three are "true" reija; Varrius doesn't have wings, Alastrine doesn't have heat-resistant skin, and Vicu doesn't have either of those things. The bark of Varrius' gerenna is slightly red-tinted, the leaves of Alastrine's have a distinctly rounder shape, and the leaves of Vicu's are noticeably green-tinted.
- Hellis didn't know if a gerenna would grow for Vicu, even with the proper ritual, since Vicu is hardly anything more than your average house cat. But since her mother was a pure-blooded reija, it did work. Hellis and Jehad tried to grow a gerenna for Tahua, but since he's a regular cat from Earth with absolutely no reija blood in him, it didn't work.

Hey--I like this idea. I think the reija are Paxunium natives. Gerenna trees are native to Pekada, after all, and given the reijas' connection to them, it makes sense that the reija would never have lived on Earth. What if the reija had their own name for Paxunium, like an ancient name that only they used? What if there was a war between paxunians and reija soon after the former arrived? What if the reija are resentful towards the paxunians for invading their planet and choosing to live there? I think I've stumbled upon something great here. For that matter, there probably should be other species that were on Paxunium before it was renamed. Maybe I can make new ones just for that purpose. Yeah, this is good...I'll have to think about it a lot more.

You know, that's actually really sad. Realistic and messed up. The paxunians left Earth because the humans drove the coros to extinction. They vowed that no species would ever be driven to extinction by them, but look at the timeline now. There is only one reija left, because they have been hunted for their tough, heat-resistant skin and their powerful teeth and claws. As if that wasn't enough, paxunians are also killing the gerennae, which hurts everyone else in the long run because gerenna healing could save countless lives. It's sad. In the eyes of the reija, paxunians are just like humans. Unfortunately for them, they have no way to leave the planet...
...unless they wanted to live on Earth, which might actually be worse for them.

OPTIONAL: How Jehad finds Hellis (and who Tahua is)
Jehad starts to realize that there has to be another living reija one day when he's trying to find food. Normally he wouldn't have dared to leave Ledania, but he was starving, as he hadn't seen a nisi in days. While hunting, he sees the sun reflect on something far below; he goes to investigate, and finds a gerenna with a single leaf. He thinks for a moment that the poachers may have just missed that one leaf, but when he put pressure on the branches, a twig snapped. This could only mean one thing: The reija this tree belonged to was still alive. He got a small group of baswi to make sure nothing happened to Esan's gerenna while he was gone--something he wouldn't have done under normal circumstances, but the discovery of a living gerenna was huge. While searching Pekada for any more evidence of this other reija, he discovers letters sent by two long-dead reija who were looking for their daughter. The letters all had one common detail: She was last seen when she fell into Urk River and was swept downstream. Jehad, knowing how portals work, puts two and two together and realizes that he never even considered the possibility of a reija living on Earth. So, reluctantly, he goes to Yapalir asking to help. With a lot of talking and a bit of bribery, Yapalir finally agrees to send two desert-dwelling paltingus to protect Ledania while Jehad goes to Earth to look for the other reija. Yapalir agreed mostly because it was in everyone's best interests to keep the gerennae alive. He wasn't aware that there was only one gerenna left until Jehad told him.
So Jehad stays at Ledania with these two paltingus--sisters named Asilena and Solema--until a portal opens in Urk River. When one finally does, he wastes no time going through it.
He ends up on the same busy street corner that Hellis did all that time ago. Surrounded by screaming humans and otherworldly technology, Jehad wants nothing more than to get out of this place. But against his instincts, he ducks into an alley and hides behind a few boxes, which is very easy considering his small size. He stays there until the streets are empty, then tucks in his wings and looks for someone to ask about the other reija. He finds a stray cat who saw the other reija two years ago; in the darkness of night, all she sees is a winged cat, and she thinks Jehad is the same one. She says something like "What are you doing back here?" and when Jehad asks her some questions, she explains that another cat with wings appeared in this same place two years ago. Of course Jehad is overjoyed, but he tries not to let it show. The stray indicates the direction the reija flew off in, and Jehad follows the trail, along the way getting reports from other strays and house cats who also saw the reija to make sure he's still on the right track. Eventually he comes across an abandoned house...and this is where their stories connect. Tahua is out hunting at the time, but Hellis was in there, sleeping. When Jehad asks if anyone is there, she wakes up, and can't believe her eyes when she sees another reija after all this time. She asks if she's still dreaming, or if this is some sort of cruel joke. Jehad assures her that he's real, then catches her up on what's been happening in Pekada. She's devastated when she hears that her parents and friends are dead, but she does still want to return to Paxunium. Tahua gets back while they're still talking, and nearly jumps out of his skin in shock. Of course he's seen a reija before--he's been living with one for nearly two years, after all--but he never expected to come home and find another one. Hellis introduces them, and Tahua is sad at the idea of Hellis leaving. She asks him to come with them back to Paxunium, and after a lot of talking, he agrees.
Since Earth is a slightly larger planet than Paxunium, it's a bit more difficult to find a portal in it. Jehad lives with Hellis and Tahua until a portal opens in a nearby stream. Upon arriving in Paxunium, they were hit with a blast of icy air, and Jehad realized with dismay that they were on Inir, not Pekada. He tells Hellis and Tahua to wait there while he goes back to Pekada and asks one of the paltingus, Asilena, if she would be willing to carry Tahua oversea. It was difficult to convince her, given how proud paltingus are and the fact that they weren't thrilled about guarding Ledania in the first place, but with some bribery she eventually agreed. Once the trio got to Pekada safely, Asilena and Solema returned to their home in Turuz with a good amount of gems, food, and silver--fair pay for the few months they had to spend on Pekada. With another reija, the job of protecting the gerennae is much easier, even with the additional trees that were planted due to Varrius, Alastrine, Onsyto, and Vicu's arrivals. Jehad is much less bitter and stressed on a regular basis, Hellis has returned home, and the reija actually have a chance of surviving now. All is good :)

I think Jehad gets a group of hallats to guard Ledania for him while he's out talking to Yapalir, by the way. Either that or he sends a baswi to Donmaki to act as a sort of messenger to either get Yapalir to come to Pekada or just deliver messages without Yapalir or Jehad having to move anywhere. I don't know, though, I've become sort of attached to the idea of Jehad speaking to Yapalir but barely being understood because he can barely speak the paltingu language :'))
I know I mentioned above that the creatures on Pekada wouldn't be able to protect the gerennae from the nisi, but I think if they made a group effort (something they wouldn't normally be willing to do, because most of them don't like Jehad) they could defend it for a while. Definitely not forever, but a while. Jehad told them how important it was.

OPTIONAL: Gansanu's backstory
Gansanu was an orphan, and had two older brothers (approximately three years older). The three were never very close, but they lived together as they had nowhere else to go. They lived in a very remote part of Donmaki, quite far from the nearest civilization. His brothers both got job opportunities in the city, and left Gansanu with little more than a 'goodbye' and 'take care'. Gansanu at this point was too young to get a job, but he did know how to sustain himself and live alone. His brothers had set up some sort of farm, so he did have a source of food. They weren't just leaving him to die.
A tree fell on his house, and on him, during a wicked blizzard. His legs were pinned underneath the tree, and one of them ended up being broken. (this part feels off, might change it later.) He called someone over (basically the only person in a ten-mile radius, to put this in perspective) to help him repair the house, and do other things (such as harvest the food) while his broken leg healed. This person really wasn't friendly at all, always impatient and complaining about how Gansanu wasn't paying him enough for his help. (Gansanu physically could not do stuff like this, and was paying this person pretty much everything he had. Literally the only job for ten miles of snowy wilderness, getting paid a decent amount, and you're complaining? ..Okay.)
Eventually, his leg healed enough that he could walk around, but doing other things was still difficult, so the person stuck around. Gansanu went out for a walk one day, (he did have something to help his leg, of course) and on the trail, he found a baby paltingu, seemingly abandoned. He couldn't see a nest in the tree (but the sun was pretty much directly overhead, and it was a huge tree), so he guessed that it had been abandoned by its parents. He felt a connection to the fledgling right away, and he knew he had to act. He couldn't risk its life by leaving it out in the snow--after all, there were myns and other hostile creatures that could see a baby paltingu as an easy snack. It even had a broken wing, so even if it could fly, it would still be helpless. So he took it home, knowing that his "helper" wouldn't be pleased, but refusing to let an innocent baby animal die. And...Gansanu was dead wrong. The dude wasn't "not pleased", he was furious. Owning a paltingu without some sort of permission would probably be illegal, he said. Without any concern for Gansanu or the baby bird, he said he could get in trouble for "being an accomplice" to..what? Rescuing a helpless paltingu? Hell, that'd probably get you some sort of reward.
Long story short, his helper left, refusing to ever come back or help Gansanu with anything else. "Have fun raising that bird, hope it doesn't kill you."
How reassuring. So Gansanu is left to recover from his injury alone (not that he didn't expect it), and on top of that, raise a paltingu. But he never regretted his decision, even though it was difficult at times. Being able to communicate with the bird, whose name turned out to be Kyri
(as if you didn't already realize that), was a huge bonus.
One day, when his leg had already fully healed, he found a raw gem in the snow, which seemed to have been dropped accidentally by someone. He had an idea right away--Kyri had just started going on long hunting trips during the day and night, and Gansanu had been worried that something might happen to him, as Kyri could be a bit reckless. So he took it to someone in the city to polish it, cut it, etc. until it could be made into a pendant. He then took it to a paltingu with the ability to give the gem its power, allowing it to be used in an anklet. Then he took it to a paltingu who could bind it to Kyri's anklet; that's what would draw him towards his anklet if it was lost. Paltingus have strong connections to gems and many powerful ways to enchant them; one of the things they can do is bind two gems together. This is often done for paltingus who are particularly close, like mates or siblings, though for a higher price it will be done for paxunians as well.
After the gem was completely done, Gansanu made it into a necklace and gave it to Kyri, explaining that he was to keep it with him at all times.
Not really anything else to explain here--Kyri still lives with Gansanu, and sleeps in a nest in a tree just outside his house.

OPTIONAL: Tahua's backstory
His parents didn't care much for him, but they cared enough to keep him alive. They gave him a name, but he had never really answered to it. Once he was old enough and strong enough to live on his own, his parents took off in the middle of the night, leaving him alone in the abandoned house he had been raised in. Since he lived alone, in the middle of nowhere, far from any other cats, he never felt the need to name himself. Who would he ever talk to? Who would he ever meet? The name his parents had given him would be nothing more than a burden and a sad memory if he kept it. He wouldn't have any interaction with anyone else for months, until he came back from hunting one day to find a...cat? sleeping in one of the corners. Her scent was clearly like a cat's, but mixed with something unnatural. He was reasonably freaked out when he saw the wings on her back, and almost contemplated running off before she woke up, apparently realized he was there, and said hello. She explained that she didn't mean him any harm, that her name was Hellis, and that she was lost. After he calmed down a bit, he asked her a few obvious questions. Hellis said she was from a place called Paxunium and that she had just taken shelter in his house. She asked him what his name was, and he said that he didn't have one. Hellis was surprised but didn't ask any questions, she simply told him that she would call him Tahua because he reminded her of one of her friends. She then asked if she could stay with him for a while, and he said yes, partly because it was nice to finally have some company and partly because he didn't want her to get hurt--after all, she was very young and didn't seem like she could fight off a rabbit. So they lived together for two years, becoming close friends, until one day while Tahua is out hunting, Hellis is met with a surprise: Another reija. It has been made very clear to her by now that she isn't on Paxunium--she's seen none of its creatures, and every cat she's met seems to have no idea what she is or where Pekada is. This stranger looks just as happy as Hellis is shocked, and he quickly explains how he found her, and what's going on back in Pekada. From there you can easily connect this story to Jehad's quest.

OPTIONAL: A bit of detail on Hellis' kits and parents
Varrius is a bit of an arrogant prick. He thinks he's better than everyone else, and seems to believe that wings, or flying in general, are for cowards--he never says that, but he implies it. Anyone who knew him for two minutes would know about his heat resistance; he boasts it all the time by daring his siblings to chase him through volcanic areas or the scorching desert, always forbidding Onsyto and Alastrine to fly during those 'games'.
Alastrine is kind and sensitive. She's secretly glad that her family and Jehad are the last living reija, because she's afraid that others would make fun of her lack of heat resistance. You could say that she doesn't have a right to feel that way because "at least she has wings", but heat resistance is also a huge part of being a reija due to their desert/volcanic habitat. She often burns her paws silently trying to prove to Varrius that she's not useless.
Onsyto is the only 'true' reija of his siblings, but unlike Varrius, he doesn't rub his advantages in their faces. He's extremely outgoing and is great with kittens--or, I mean, he would be if there were any kittens around. He's very creative, and he personally likes Vicu more than his other siblings. He loves thinking of new games to play that compliment her lack of wings or even make his wings a burden.
Vicu is rather shy, but she gets along well with her friends and family. While she doesn't have heat resistance, she seems to be resistant to hate and insults. One might expect her to feel incompetent because she has no more abilities than the average house cat, but no--if Onsyto or Alastrine were to take to the sky during one of their games, Vicu would just laugh it off. She's usually the one to cool down Alastrine's paws when her sister burns them.

(these are Hellis' parents)
PEYOTE - Cream tabby-and-white, a bit darker and more orange (so, less dilute) than Hellis. Eyes are blue. He lost most of his left wing to a slitfe. Every movement of his left shoulder or foreleg causes it to ache, even years after it happened--so he's constantly in pain, but he never let that show to Hellis. He wouldn't want her to be sad or feel like she has to be careful of hurting him. Losing his wing made him gain some traits, though; he's very observant, no longer being able to fly away from danger, and he's a bit overprotective, as he doesn't want the same thing to happen to Hellis or Fawn. He's frustrated that he can't be the one to hunt for and protect his mate and daughter, but Fawn insists that she's more capable.
FAWN - Fawn calico (definitely not where I got her name) with amber eyes. Soft and fluffy, I think. Against Peyote's wishes, Fawn does most of the hunting for them and Hellis. She's not a good fighter, but she does as much as she can to defend herself and her family--maybe a little too much, actually. I wouldn't say she's overconfident, just that she won't hesitate to fight something without knowing the dangers first. Outside of that, Fawn is just as sweet and loving as you might expect a good mother to be. She's quick to fuss over minor injuries or unnecessary risks, which makes her a bit of a hypocrite.

When those 23 sorcerers joined together to make a wormhole to a different planet, it took an extreme amount of effort and strength--and even though there were so many, even though they were the strongest of their race, it almost wasn't possible, and eight of them died from it. This is why it took so much power:
-They were creating a wormhole to a different planet. A planet that was in the Andromeda galaxy, millions of LIGHT YEARS away.
-Whatever spell they did specified that the planet it led to had to be almost identical to Earth; same atmosphere, almost the same size, same gravity, same environment, etc. (the closest one happened to be in the Andromeda galaxy. Perhaps not the most realistic scenario--there are probably some closer than that--but I like Andromeda.)
-They had to hold it open long enough for their ENTIRE SPECIES to get through, as well as hundreds of other animals
-They had to make sure that no humans could get through, as the humans couldn't be trusted

All of the sorcerers had to go through the wormhole at pretty much the same time; the eight that died were just a bit too slow, and with the shared power of the other fifteen gone, the strength required to hold it open was just too much. Their deaths were almost instantaneous.

A bit more useless information: Some "headcanons" that I have! This means I like the idea, but I'm not sure if it's canon or not. It's strange to call them headcanons when I am the author, as I could just make them canon if I so choose, but this is the term that I want to use.
I wonder if you can tell that I'm really obsessed with building the story and features of the reija...
Believe it or not, the reija weren't originally supposed to be the main part of the story. I have a whole separate plot that has nothing to do with the reija. At this point it might be a better idea to rebuild the world and plot around the reija, since I've put so much time into them, and I'm still adding more.

-Jehad has difficulty speaking with most other species, due to his isolation from everyone else. I imagine that this could either be very annoying or very amusing when he goes to Yapalir to ask for help guarding Ledania. Maybe both. Like, Yapalir knows this is serious, but he's visibly trying not to laugh, which only irritates Jehad more. He speaks almost like a toddler in any language other than his own. "Hey! Is there! Portal!"
-Char died first. He gave his life trying to distract the poachers from Jehad and Tinq.
-Reija speak is like a really dying and ancient language, Jehad is almost the only person on Paxunium who speaks it before he meets Hellis. There are a handful of other people who do, but they're few and far between, and they're far from fluent. The only reason they know it in the first place is because they're dedicated to dead/dying languages.
-Solema and Asilena are basically inseparable, they've always done things together
-Hellis loves trees, she loves them so much--she's such a precious bean
-From the perspective of a domestic cat, reija speak with an accent. Maybe reija and Earth cats speak the same language, but reija speak with the accent? I like that idea. Hellis wouldn't have the reija accent because she grew up on Earth with a domestic cat, for the most part.
-Reija smell almost like Earth cats, but with a distinct change. They smell like cat, but with something very noticeably different and strange about it. What is the strange smell? I don't know. Maybe a sweet or spicy type of smell. Maybe sort of like cactus juice? Something exotic?

Here are some fun facts about things that have happened during Paxunium's creation, and some things I do while creating characters or species.
-Usually, before naming a new creature, I'll show its design to some other people in my family to see what they think of it. I'll also ask for help naming the creature. This is how the fizars and baswi were named; for the fizars, my dad suggested "fizzle" and I changed it up a bit. For the baswi..my mom suggested "bat swing". Not sure where that one came from, but it helped. Sometimes I'll also combine two different words. This was the case with slitfes--I just combined "slither" and "feline".
-When I want to make a new species, I'll sometimes ask a member of my family which animal I should base its design off of. For the hallats, my mom suggested a ferret. For the tevsins, my oldest sister suggested a horse-sized rabbit, since she loves bunnies.
-You know how, when you erase pencil markings, they'll sometimes leave behind faint gray markings? Well, that's how the azodvyrs came to be. I saw a faint line of something I had erased earlier, and traced over it, making slight modifications and giving it more of a body shape.
-Sometimes, I'll use a random letter sequence generator to help me come up with names for things. I might eliminate letters like Z, Q, or X just to make it easier, and I usually try to edit the generated sequences to make them more pronounceable.
-Part of the hallats' name came from a joke I had been making before I named them. I was simply referring to them as "???"s, and in the 'Pronunciation' tab of their species description, I wrote "Hmm???". I decided that I wanted their name to start with a H. I wanted a double letter to exist in the name somewhere, partly as a nod to their design origin (ferrets) and partly because I didn't have any double letters in other species names.
I'll add more facts as I think of them!

Wow, this is a lot of information. But I'm done now!
If you've read this far, I'm impressed! Either you're quite interested in Paxunium, or you honestly have nothing better to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Also, oops, sorry. I guess if I ever make this into a comic, book series, game, etc. anyone who has read this will be spoiled for a lot of things. I'm still not really sure how I want to make this into a thing--I'm not good at that sort of stuff. I'm much more comfortable building the world and the characters, I'm awful at writing the thing itself.

I think this goes without saying, but please, don't steal any of the stories, characters, or species that I have here. Everything here either was originally my idea, or is an altered version of an idea someone else in my family gave me. I wrote all of the backstories, named all of the characters, and detailed all of the species mostly by myself. This is almost three years of work, so it's understandable that I'd be...a little devastated if someone claimed all of it as their own.

If anyone's curious, I added Kyri's siblings to the bottom of the main post!

This is super cool :D It's obvious you've put heeaaps of time, thought, and effort into this — you should totally write a book! :D

One lil question, though, regarding this passage:
They don't have fur or scales, and their skin can be any color that is close to their surroundings. Gray-blue to match the rocks, pink to match the coral, black to match the darkness...
Does that mean their colouring is affected by their surroundings when they were born/hatched? Or are they like chameleons? :.D

Wait, there's another reija? Plot-twist!
The world is quiet here. Cheese

Thanks so much! ^^
I'd say that their coloring is affected by their surroundings when they're born--it can't change throughout their lifetime. I haven't taken the time to consider a lot of things that might be important, and this whole world is still in development :D
I like to tweak small details about species or characters, and am constantly trying to develop backstories and personalities...those things can be annoying sometimes
About to add Gansanu's backstory and a little more personality for Kyri :)
