The drone is strong, yes, just like his brothers.
He lacks wings, but that only makes his ability to dig new tunnels all the more valuable, nothing to injure, nothing to hold him back. His antennae are intact, rare among diggers, it makes him most valuable to the Queen, she can communicate with him clearly so that he may direct the other diggers while she moves on.
He may not be fancy or beautiful, but his genes are desirable to the Queen, who needs to build more and more as her colony thrives.

Every day, it's the same thing, marching through the tunnels, the sound of his fellow drones' feet stomping down, in an almost melodic rhythm. His feet would drum along the soil, hardened into a smooth path by the footsteps of his fellow workers. It's cramped and dark, and he could barely see anything. Any noises that he would've heard were muted by the rest of the drones, a constant buzz of sound in his ears (no pun intended).
