The maned wolf
(Chrysocyon brachyurus)
is the largest canid of
South America. Its markings
resemble those of foxes,
but it is not a fox, nor is
it a wolf, as it is not closely
related to other canids.
It is the only known
living species in the genus
Chrysocyon
(meaning "golden dog").
Through years of
genetic recreation and taming,
scientists have created
a larger, more docile
strain of this endangered species.
These chyros,
as they are called in shorthand,
can get as large
as a horse, and can be ridden
by lightweight individuals.
Their genetics have also diversified,
with many colors
and markings now presenting
that have never been seen
in their wild siblings.
welcome to CHRYSOCYON, a species that is part of an Art Role-Playing Game (ARPG), set in the magical world of Arkylia, focused on the taming, breeding, and training of the maned wolf, which in this world, has been genetically recreated and altered to become a better working animal and companion for the various denizens of Arkylia.
We have three different linearts for this ARPG. The chart above shows you the general size of each lineart- meaning that a chyro on the jumping lineart will be 7 feet tall at the shoulder (big enough to ride!) while one on the running lineart is the size of a normal maned wolf. There will be probabilities involved when deciding which lineart is used- being breeding-based, there is a gene that decides how large they are. The gene for smaller individuals is recessive.
Please visit the
Main Arkylia Thread to learn more about our ARPG!
