I want to put up an unclaimed batch for adoption, but I'm not really sure if there's
people I should notify or anything? I've never done it before :c
here's the batch in question.
I'm just overall confused by the whole thing?? I just kinda need to know what I should do before putting it ufa

It's recommended you notify me to let me know (before or after) it's put ufa and so I can add it to the front page here when the comps been made. c: And of course, notify the artists so they know it'll be going ufa as well <3
but otherwise there's nothing too specific you have to do. just post a comment with the contest type and end date for it;; and then judge it once it's over is all <3

You don't need to -- as people change their usernames all the time c:
but if you have any stubs / special potions / myo tickets or something the like, it would probably good for the archivists to know about your username change -- however, a short post on the fanclub with "hello I used to be 155NinjaCat" should be enough ^-^ just so there is no confusion if you happen to want to use anything you own. But most things if not all are archived with not (only) your username, but your user-ID, so everything should really be fine, even if you don't notify anyone c:

Hello, there. I was just refreshing myself on the rules around, and I had a question about this one in particular.
Does the 10-custom maximum refer to being able to create up to 10 customs per user, or would re-adopted viscets count towards this limit as well, even if they were not originally created by the new owner? (AKA, can I create my own 10 customs and then obtain an eleventh in the future through a re-adoption?)

Likewise, if I were to hit my limit, would I be able to re-home a custom and free up a slot?

Yes, only customs that you have bought and created yourself will count towards this limit c:
So if you happen to get gifted a custom from another user or if you obtain one via re-adoption, it will count as a normal adopt for you (if it's a gift, it'll count towards your monthly gift slot and if it's a re-adopt, it will not count)
And your last question is correct too c: if you adopt out or re-home a custom of yours, you will free up a custom slot. However: if you should take that custom back, for whatever reason, it will again count towards your custom slot, as you were the original creator / owner of that custom
