Disclaimer: Katrione is the creator of this game mechanic and layout. I do not claim to own it in any way.

Hoofed mammals have long since roamed various parts of the world, from prairies to savannahs to forests with thick undergrowth. Many ungulates, as the groups of hoofed mammals are called, have been destroyed, nothing left behind to build off of. However, from the ashes, new ungulates rise up, worthy leaders appointed by the Ungulate of the Stars coming forth to lead their members through life. Perhaps your ungulate will become the strongest in all the land.

HOW TO PLAY
Starting Off. If it is your first time posting, you must tell me about your ungulate. You can describe things like your ungulate's name, nature, reputation, territory and member's personalities. These things help us decide on what your first member, the leader, will look like! We will quote your post with a picture of your first member and they will be the member who is the foundation of your ungulate. You can decide on things like the leader's name, age and gender. The leader of your ungulate will only have one life.

Getting More Members. Your ungulate will start off small and you will have to build up it's population. You have two options for finding members: patrols and sending your leader to speak with the Ungulate of the Stars. You are only able to send your leader to the Ungulate of the Stars once a week and they can ask the ancestors for a new member; you can ask for a specifically ranked member or we will give you one at random. You will be able to pick their name, gender and age as well.

Known Species. Here is a list of species that can join your ungulate. Please specify which species are found in your ungulate. If your ungulate resides somewhere tropical, please request proper species; i.e., giraffes, zebras, gazelles, rather than reindeer. Please PM me (scarlet_wolf) if you have any ideas for species that should be added to this list.
Horses, Donkeys, Ponies, Elk, Moose, Various Types of Deer, Camels, Reindeer, Alpacas, Llamas, Bison, Gazelles, Okapis, Various Types of Antelopes, Zebras, Giraffes, Przewalski's Horses, Goats, Rams, Sheep, Boars, Yaks, Water Buffalo, Musk Oxen, Oxen, Cows, Ibex

Patrols. You are able to send up to 6 members out on a patrol at one time. In one post, you are only able to send out two scouting patrols and two border patrols. There are only a few things that can happen on patrols: you can chase off a threat, which will also keep your ungulate safe for 12 hours; you can find a new member at the border (however the further along your ungulate gets the less likely this is to happen), you will usually only find scouts, guards, and yearlings, but you will sometimes find foals at the border if you have mothers available; and you can find a leader of a rival ungulate that will ask for an alliance that you can accept, ignore, or even decide on becoming enemies. Scouting patrols are in charge of discovering new land for the ungulate to graze on, whereas guards protect the ungulate.

New Ranks. Whenever you have a member old enough to move onto the next rank (6 months- foal to yearling, 12-24 months- yearling to scout or guard), you must write that in the "Actions" section of your post. You must also do this when promoting a memberto deputy, or retiring a member to become an elder.

Healing/Herbs. When you find your healer, you will have the option to choose 5 herbs to start off your medical storage. When you send your healer out to find herbs, you can only find 2 every patrol the healer takes to find herbs. Once your healer gets a yearling, you will be able to find 3 on one patrol. You store your herbs in the medicine store and they can be used to heal sick or injured members.

Mentors/Training. You will be the one to assign a certain mentor to a certain yearling. Before your yearling is allowed to become a scout or guard, they must complete 4 training sessions and they must be at least 12 moons old. Your yearling learns a new 'move' during each training session. You can send your healer to train with the scout or guard yearlings but it isn't a requirement for them. Please specify whether your yearling is becoming a guard or a scout.

Aging/Death. You must age your members up 1 moon every post that you post. If in one post, you had a yearling who was 8 moons, then in the next post you would make that yearling be 9 moons. In this game, there are 5 possible ways for your members to die; being born stillborn, old age, being attacked severally by a dangerous animal/another hoofed mammal, mares can die having foals, and not having injuries treated within 2 days of them getting injured and/or sick.

Alliances. If you meet a neighboring ungulate while on patrol, you can choose to become their ally. Ally ungulates usually act friendly towards each other and resolve disputes without fighting. You can give herbs to an ally ungulate if they don't have the herb they need but you do and if they are in desperate need of one. You can also trade members with an ally ungulate, but this can only happen at a gathering. If your ungulate is under attack by an enemy ungulate, your ally ungulate can join the fight and defend you as long as the enemy ungulate isn't their ally. If your ally defends you in an attack, you have a much less chance of your members dying or being captured.
Enemies. If you meet a neighboring ungulate while on patrol, you can choose to become their enemy or rival. Enemy ungulates usually act hostile towards each other and often argue and fight. You can steal foals, yearlings, elders and herbs while raiding enemy ungulate camps. You need 4 members to do this and the only way the ungulate can get these back is if they attack the ungulate. Attacks can prove fatal and there will often be members injured, captured or even killed during attacks. You can make peace and become allies with an enemy ungulate during a gathering.

    Gatherings.
    Next Gathering: TBD
Gatherings happen once every 2 weeks, usually on Saturdays (they may be put earlier/later because of holidays). At a Gathering, you can choose your leader, second, and healer (and their yealing) along with six others to attend, and your leader or deputy will share news to the rest of the ungulates. It is here that fights can break out and friendships and romances can blossom, so it is a good event to attend. It is here battles can be arranged and members can be swapped. Ungulates can also form alliances and rivalries here. You can do this by getting the leaders to talk, and if they find common interests, or seem aggressive towards each other, they can become allies or enemies!

Becoming Mates/Having Foals. Without foals, your ungulate would struggle to thrive. To have two members become mates, post them going for a walk together and one of them asking the other to be their mate. In my post, I will time skip to the mare finding out she's expecting foals, then you will have to wait two months (2 posts). If you wish for the mare to not have foals yet, make sure to tell me. If you want a mare to have another foal later on, say so in your post as well. A mare will usually give birth to one foal, but occasionally you will have twins, though the chances of both surviving is slim, and the mare has a higher chance of dying.

Forbidden Romances. Forbidden romances are romantic relationships with either a healer, or a member from another ungulate. Members can form romances from both ally and enemy ungulates and can sneak out of camp to meet them and bond at gatherings. However, if the relationship results in foals, they will have to find a member willing enough to cover up as their father. It can be arranged at a gathering for one or more of the foals to be given to the parent of the other ungulate. It is extremely rare, but some members may find out that the foals are forbidden and the parent(s) and/or foals could be exiled from the ungulate.

Seasons. Each season will last two weeks, with each season having one gathering. After the gathering ends, a new season will start, going in order from Leafbare to Leaf-Fall. When your mod replies to your post, the mod will write what type of weather your ungulate has for that day, which will ultimately affect how things go for you that day.

Winter.- During winter, the chances of catching colds are higher. If you send the same ungulate out multiple times in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold, which can quickly turn ugly, so be careful. After your ungulate catches a cold, don't send them out for 2 posts or their cold will progress to something worse. The sun will start to go down early and it will get colder once the sun starts to go down. It will be harder to find grass that is fit for eating and isn't frozen, and a couple of ungulates might die of starvation. The lack of food leads to the ungulate searching elsewhere for it, which could be another ungulate's territory. This is how fights could start. It will also be harder to find new members on patrols.
Spring.- During spring, foalings will run much smoother and the chances of the mothers or foals dying during birth will go down dramatically. There will also be plenty of fresh grass to go around. The chances of catching colds will go down. With all the snow melting, it is very likely that your territory will start flooding. There will also be more storms that will contribute to the flooding. The odds of finding new ungulates is very high.
Summer.- During summer, you are more likely to run into predators or humans on patrols, and rogue groups will most likely start to try and settle on your territory, so keep an eye out. You are still likely to get floods, but there will be more droughts towards the middle of summer. Because of the droughts, the grass will start to shrivel up. Your ungulate will still receive new ungulates but not as many as you would in spring.
Fall.- During fall, it will start to get colder, so the grass will begin to shrivel up. The sun will start going down earlier and earlier and this will continue into winter. Foalings will start to get a little bit harder, so make sure to stock up on foaling herbs like fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves and raspberry leaves. You will encounter predators more often.
Post Format. After your first post, you will use the following format in every post to keep track of your ungulate. Replace the "link" in the X with the image of your member. You may edit slightly, but not too much. Please don't use this format outside of Create games without my permission.

{I have got a drama-filled plan for these guys already lol}

The Ungulate of the Forest

The Ungulate of the Forest live on the corner of a forest and a plains. The most common species to see are White Tailed Deer, Roe Deer, Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Elk, Horses, Ponies, Llamas, goats, rams, sheep, ibex, and cows. Although rare, it is possible to find an animal who escaped from the two-leggers cages, which is what the Forestkeepers (as they call themselves) call a zoo. And when I say rare, believe me it is extremely rare.

The Forestkeepers believe it is their job to protect the forest, and anyone caught doing something to destroy the forest will be punished. To help keep the forest alive, the Leader will send members in to work with the Healer to help plant new herbs, and to root out harming plants such as poison ivy, thorns, etc

Rowan's horns gently nudged vines out of the way as he entered the camp he'd chosen for the Forestkeepers. Their official name would be the Ungulate of the Forest, but their role would be Forestkeepers. He'd found an overgrown forest, and a strange feeling had washed over him, a combination of dread and sadness, that the woods had gotten to this state.

That was why he'd decided to create an Ungulate, despite having told himself he'd never again be a part of a group. He was going to nurse the forest back to health, a peaceful and orderly place, and then he'd see to it that it stayed that way.

Mind focusing back on the present, Rowan peered around the cave. It was dark, but it would have to do. It was well sheltered, and the most protected spot he'd been able to find, safe for Dames, Foals, and Fawns to live without worry. It was a bit small, so they'd have to expand soon, but by the time they'd have to expand, there would be plenty of hooves around to help.

Speaking of helping hooves...Rowan stepped lightly out of the cave. He'd been putting it off, since getting another member to his ungulate would make it real, but it was something that would need to be done. He was going to ask the Starkeepers, those who watched the stars, for a Dame.

Salto De Venado [Leaping Deer] [00]

Postby sharklord » Thu May 17, 2018 9:49 am

Image
Image

ᴛᴇʀʀɪᴛᴏʀʏ - Salto De Venado makes it's home in a meadow, surrounded by a thick forest. A river runs through the woods and falls into a pond before it makes a loop. They have pushed fallen trees to make shelters at the north end of the meadow, creating shelters.

sᴘᴇᴄɪᴇs - The animals in Salto De Venado are all deer, with an Okapi for their Curador. All deer can be found there, but if an Okapi or Antelope find their way to the Ungulate, they will be accepted.

ʀᴀɴᴋs - Líder(Leader), Segundo(Second), Curador(Healer), Sanador Ayudante(Healer's Apprentice), Agujas(Scouts), Guardianes(Guards), Ayudantes(Yearlings), Rescatadores(Dames), Cervatillos(Yearlings), Sabio(Elders)

ʀᴇʟɪɢɪᴏɴs - The Ungulate worships Vino Ciervo, and his Ungulate of Estrellas Caídas, where their dead go after death. Every Half-Moon, they hold celebrations, and fast for the 2 days after Media-Luna.

( bellview meadows // 00. )

Postby notwearingsocks » Thu May 17, 2018 4:04 pm

ixxx▬bellview meadows is an ungulate composed of primarily horses, donkeys, and ponies. however, the occasional deer, elk, reindeer, and moose can be found in the ungulate. the members of bellview meadows are typically solitary, cautious creatures that can be hostile if threatened. if welcomed with gentleness, however, though it may take a period of time before the bellview members begin to trust others, they will oftentimes form friendships or alliances.
ixxx▬the ungulate is named as such because of the overgrown chapel that forms the center of their territory. near the northern section of bellview meadows' residence, a natural spring bubbles up from the rocks in the woods. the water stays at a constant temperature of 72°, making it hot enough not to freeze in the winter, but cool enough for the equine members to drink from. the spring runs into a stream that cuts through a copse of trees. the woods end sharply, lending space for the rolling grasslands that provide enough food for the ungulate. to speak with the ancestors, the bellview leader will travel to the chapel, where they find that they have the closet connection with the ungulate of the stars. the eastern part of bellview meadows boasts a densely covered, abandoned barn that has been overtaken by foliage, the edge of the trees creeping up to grasp at the structure. during winter, the members of the ungulate will travel to the barn, where, during snowfall, they will huddle up inside, their body heat and breath keeping the space warm and cozy during even the harshest of weather.
ixxx▬instead of guards, the members of bellview meadows call them foal watchers. in addition, the bellview meadows ungulate may often have more than one healer at a time, depending on the population. rather than a deputy, though, the next in line for leadership is the current leader's oldest offspring.

ixxx▬requesting this as my founder !!

The Lost Souls

The Lost Souls are a group like no other. They live on a desolate island somewhere in the Burmuda Triangle. The island was once home to ‘The World Zoo’. This zoo held countless animals from all over the world, ranging from zebra and lions to elk and wolves. It was a huge success! However, one day an enormous storm rolled in, wrecking all of the buildings and fencing, allowing the animals to escape. The humans fled and never returned, allowing the animals to claim the island for themselves.

During time, some changes occurred. Due to the lack of food, most carnivors died out. However, foxes, coyotes, mountain lions, and panthers still roam. The herbivor population soared, particularly the hooved animals.

It is a very large island (about half the size of Connecticut) so the animals are pretty spread out and it might take a while to find new members. Really any hooved animal can be found, but cold-weather animals are rarer and have a shorter coat; that being said, they are still able to be seen on the regular, depending where you are.

There are some special ranks:

Leader: leads the Ungulate

Heir: next in line to become leader (leader’s oldest foal)

Council: 3 members selected to guide the leader (life-long position)

Plague-Healer: the healer, communicates with the Ancients (Plauge-Healers always receive the name Ferro or Ferra, depending on their gender; so if their birth name was Sage, their new name would be Ferra Sage. Everyone in the group is expected to call them by their proper name.)

Healer’s Apprentice: next in line to become the Plague-Healer

General: in charge of the battalion, appointed after the old general dies, steps down, is exiled, or is unable to preform duties

The Battalion: the members who fight the Ungulate’s battles, are expected to always fight with their lives. Those who are considered a traitor or disgrace are sentenced to exile to the Claw District (where the predators lurk)

The Foragers: those who aren’t necessarily strong enough to be in the Battalion, or have just chosen not to be. They find the food.

The Apprentices: those training to become a Battalion member or a forager.

The Nurses: 1-2 past Queens who take on the task of helping the current Queens and foals with any trouble they may have.

The Queens: those who have and care for Foals

The Foals: Foals that are under 6 moons

The Veterans: the elders. Highly respected.

I hope I did this right ^^

Wysteria was a star-send. Both literally and figuratively. The young horse was gentle, and fit into Ungulate life like two antlers locking. She was newly expecting, and when she had first arrived mentioned that her mate, Oak, was a brave stallion. Rowan was pleased the stars had answered his request, but he wasn't sure he wanted a 'brave' stallion moving into his Ungulate. He might try to uproot everything Rowan was working for, heck, he might try to overthrow Rowan!

Taking a deep breath, Rowan got back to his feet from where he'd been laying in the moss. Making his way back towards camp, Rowan prepared his words. He was going to have to tell Wysteria that if he did manage to find Oak, he just wouldn't be able to let the stallion into the Ungulate.

As he entered camp, gently pushing the vines to the side to enter, Wysteria lifted her head to look at him, an expression of pure hope in her dark eyes "Did you see any sign of Oak?" Rowan was silent for a heart-beat, and then he shook his head "I didn't see him." Wysteria wilted, almost physically wilted "Oh..." she turned her head, staring at a bundle of moss and grass beside her. It took Rowan a few seconds, but he realized it was a nest. Rowan sighed, and then turned around "I'm going to keep looking."
