Hoofed mammals have long since roamed various parts of the world, from prairies to savannahs to forests with thick undergrowth. Many ungulates, as the groups of hoofed mammals are called, have been destroyed, nothing left behind to build off of. However, from the ashes, new ungulates rise up, worthy leaders appointed by the Ungulate of the Stars coming forth to lead their members through life. Perhaps your ungulate will become the strongest in all the land.

HOW TO PLAY
- Starting Off. If it is your first time posting, you must tell me about your ungulate. You can describe things like your ungulate's name, nature, reputation, territory and member's personalities. These things help us decide on what your first member, the leader, will look like! We will quote your post with a picture of your first member and they will be the member who is the foundation of your ungulate. You can decide on things like the leader's name, age and gender. The leader of your ungulate will only have one life.
- Getting More Members. Your ungulate will start off small and you will have to build up it's population. You have two options for finding members: patrols and sending your leader to speak with the Ungulate of the Stars. You are only able to send your leader to the Ungulate of the Stars once a week and they can ask the ancestors for a new member; you can ask for a specifically ranked member or we will give you one at random. You will be able to pick their name, gender and age as well.
- Known Species. Here is a list of species that can join your ungulate. Please specify which species are found in your ungulate. If your ungulate resides somewhere tropical, please request proper species; i.e., giraffes, zebras, gazelles, rather than reindeer. Please PM me (scarlet_wolf) if you have any ideas for species that should be added to this list.
Horses, Donkeys, Ponies, Elk, Moose, Various Types of Deer, Camels, Reindeer, Alpacas, Llamas, Bison, Gazelles, Okapis, Various Types of Antelopes, Zebras, Giraffes, Przewalski's Horses, Goats, Rams, Sheep, Boars, Yaks, Water Buffalo, Musk Oxen, Oxen, Cows, Ibex
- Patrols. You are able to send up to 6 members out on a patrol at one time. In one post, you are only able to send out two scouting patrols and two border patrols. There are only a few things that can happen on patrols: you can chase off a threat, which will also keep your ungulate safe for 12 hours; you can find a new member at the border (however the further along your ungulate gets the less likely this is to happen), you will usually only find scouts, guards, and yearlings, but you will sometimes find foals at the border if you have mothers available; and you can find a leader of a rival ungulate that will ask for an alliance that you can accept, ignore, or even decide on becoming enemies. Scouting patrols are in charge of discovering new land for the ungulate to graze on, whereas guards protect the ungulate.
- New Ranks. Whenever you have a member old enough to move onto the next rank (6 months- foal to yearling, 12-24 months- yearling to scout or guard), you must write that in the "Actions" section of your post. You must also do this when promoting a memberto deputy, or retiring a member to become an elder.
- Healing/Herbs. When you find your healer, you will have the option to choose 5 herbs to start off your medical storage. When you send your healer out to find herbs, you can only find 2 every patrol the healer takes to find herbs. Once your healer gets a yearling, you will be able to find 3 on one patrol. You store your herbs in the medicine store and they can be used to heal sick or injured members.
- Mentors/Training. You will be the one to assign a certain mentor to a certain yearling. Before your yearling is allowed to become a scout or guard, they must complete 4 training sessions and they must be at least 12 moons old. Your yearling learns a new 'move' during each training session. You can send your healer to train with the scout or guard yearlings but it isn't a requirement for them. Please specify whether your yearling is becoming a guard or a scout.
- Aging/Death. You must age your members up 1 moon every post that you post. If in one post, you had a yearling who was 8 moons, then in the next post you would make that yearling be 9 moons. In this game, there are 5 possible ways for your members to die; being born stillborn, old age, being attacked severally by a dangerous animal/another hoofed mammal, mares can die having foals, and not having injuries treated within 2 days of them getting injured and/or sick.
- Alliances. If you meet a neighboring ungulate while on patrol, you can choose to become their ally. Ally ungulates usually act friendly towards each other and resolve disputes without fighting. You can give herbs to an ally ungulate if they don't have the herb they need but you do and if they are in desperate need of one. You can also trade members with an ally ungulate, but this can only happen at a gathering. If your ungulate is under attack by an enemy ungulate, your ally ungulate can join the fight and defend you as long as the enemy ungulate isn't their ally. If your ally defends you in an attack, you have a much less chance of your members dying or being captured.
- Enemies. If you meet a neighboring ungulate while on patrol, you can choose to become their enemy or rival. Enemy ungulates usually act hostile towards each other and often argue and fight. You can steal foals, yearlings, elders and herbs while raiding enemy ungulate camps. You need 4 members to do this and the only way the ungulate can get these back is if they attack the ungulate. Attacks can prove fatal and there will often be members injured, captured or even killed during attacks. You can make peace and become allies with an enemy ungulate during a gathering.
- Gatherings.
Next Gathering: TBD
Gatherings happen once every 2 weeks, usually on Saturdays (they may be put earlier/later because of holidays). At a Gathering, you can choose your leader, second, and healer (and their yealing) along with six others to attend, and your leader or deputy will share news to the rest of the ungulates. It is here that fights can break out and friendships and romances can blossom, so it is a good event to attend. It is here battles can be arranged and members can be swapped. Ungulates can also form alliances and rivalries here. You can do this by getting the leaders to talk, and if they find common interests, or seem aggressive towards each other, they can become allies or enemies!
- Becoming Mates/Having Foals. Without foals, your ungulate would struggle to thrive. To have two members become mates, post them going for a walk together and one of them asking the other to be their mate. In my post, I will time skip to the mare finding out she's expecting foals, then you will have to wait two months (2 posts). If you wish for the mare to not have foals yet, make sure to tell me. If you want a mare to have another foal later on, say so in your post as well. A mare will usually give birth to one foal, but occasionally you will have twins, though the chances of both surviving is slim, and the mare has a higher chance of dying.
- Forbidden Romances. Forbidden romances are romantic relationships with either a healer, or a member from another ungulate. Members can form romances from both ally and enemy ungulates and can sneak out of camp to meet them and bond at gatherings. However, if the relationship results in foals, they will have to find a member willing enough to cover up as their father. It can be arranged at a gathering for one or more of the foals to be given to the parent of the other ungulate. It is extremely rare, but some members may find out that the foals are forbidden and the parent(s) and/or foals could be exiled from the ungulate.
- Seasons. Each season will last two weeks, with each season having one gathering. After the gathering ends, a new season will start, going in order from Leafbare to Leaf-Fall. When your mod replies to your post, the mod will write what type of weather your ungulate has for that day, which will ultimately affect how things go for you that day.
- Winter.- During winter, the chances of catching colds are higher. If you send the same ungulate out multiple times in the same post, they are more likely to catch a cold, which can quickly turn ugly, so be careful. After your ungulate catches a cold, don't send them out for 2 posts or their cold will progress to something worse. The sun will start to go down early and it will get colder once the sun starts to go down. It will be harder to find grass that is fit for eating and isn't frozen, and a couple of ungulates might die of starvation. The lack of food leads to the ungulate searching elsewhere for it, which could be another ungulate's territory. This is how fights could start. It will also be harder to find new members on patrols.
Spring.- During spring, foalings will run much smoother and the chances of the mothers or foals dying during birth will go down dramatically. There will also be plenty of fresh grass to go around. The chances of catching colds will go down. With all the snow melting, it is very likely that your territory will start flooding. There will also be more storms that will contribute to the flooding. The odds of finding new ungulates is very high.
Summer.- During summer, you are more likely to run into predators or humans on patrols, and rogue groups will most likely start to try and settle on your territory, so keep an eye out. You are still likely to get floods, but there will be more droughts towards the middle of summer. Because of the droughts, the grass will start to shrivel up. Your ungulate will still receive new ungulates but not as many as you would in spring.
Fall.- During fall, it will start to get colder, so the grass will begin to shrivel up. The sun will start going down earlier and earlier and this will continue into winter. Foalings will start to get a little bit harder, so make sure to stock up on foaling herbs like fennel, chervil, ragwort leaves and raspberry leaves. You will encounter predators more often.
- Post Format. After your first post, you will use the following format in every post to keep track of your ungulate. Replace the "link" in the X with the image of your member. You may edit slightly, but not too much. Please don't use this format outside of Create games without my permission.
