Looking for a Character - Don't Know Where to Start

So, I've never had a character before, and I have no idea where to start with this. I know somewhat what I am looking for. I have no idea what sort of price these things demand or what to ask for or how to go about this. If someone could comment with some help with what to expect / ask for or PM me, that would be amazing of you!

I'm actually up to help you. Tho, it's true that you can just make yourself a character. I mean, my first character was created by me, based in my own likes, and I've had him for nearly, i don't know, like 9 years or so.

You can also ask for something called a custom, that's when you pay someone to make a character for you, either giving details about what you'd like to see or not. Price always depends on the designer and the complexity of the design, I mean I'm not too fond of customs, because I'd prefer to see the character and be sure about the use I can give to it, but that's decision of each of us.

About prices of premade characters, well, that also depends on complexity and designer, but also depends on the rest of the art they have, tho that's really irregular. I've got characters with 100+ drawings for less than 100C$, but I've also got characters with just 1 drawing for nearly $30, so that depends pretty much on the seller.

Best you could do is organize yourself and your priorities, so you see if you want to design, commission, or directly buy a character.

It's my personal experience actually, but I kinda know what I'm saying, I'm owner of almost 300 characters that I've bought/traded for (Other Characters/CS pets or items/c$/$$$/Other currencies. Character market is huge actually) or simply designed myself. You can PM me if you want me to explain something with more detail.

Ah! Hello! As a character trader, purchaser, and creator, I can give you some advice as well!

As an artist/creator, it's always super helpful to have a brief idea, even if it is just a moodboard (like this). Most of the time, as an artist, it's really hard to draw off a description.

As for custom character pricing, that depends heavily on the artist you're purchasing from. The price is normally higher than a fullbody if you're asking for a character from scratch, so be aware of the artist's fullbody pricing. A design that is fully custom will also cost even more, without a basic sketch/idea.

You can also browse the forums here and on the adoptables section on deviantart, or feel free to type "character sale" or "character purge" in the search bar on dA.

As a trader/seller, I can also invite you to search around my characters, and message me if you like any of them! I'd also be willing to create a character, so long as I'd have a basic outline. I'd change 4-5 rares, or around 30c$ for the design, and 3-4 rares or 25c$ if I was allowed to use a base.
