I had gotten lucky yesterday, I had at least found a handful of blue flowers then. But today? Not a single one. I can't help but be disappointed.
I supposed there was no longer a point in searching when I wasn't finding anything. So, here I am now, resting for a while.
There are so many kjaku hunting still, but I only smile to myself as I take in the scene. The very feeling of spring rides on the breeze as the strong scents of blooming flowers permeate the air. Suddenly, I find myself frowning though. There's another scent on the air, very faint, and it's not exactly pleasant.
Before I can focus on the smell I hear a scream. I search frantically for the source, even as the other hunting kjaku continue with what they were doing.
After my act of foolish bravery yesterday, I can't help but feel the same kind of brave impulses take over. It's as if I'm trying to find trouble instead of the blue flowers.
I can see them now-- a kjaku running with a basket of blue flowers and another kjaku tailing him.
It's fairly obvious the first kjaku has the advantage, as he quickly begins to lose his pursuer.
The dark kjaku rushes past me as their pursuer yells for help. Suddenly, he turns to me and points.
"Please help me chase this thief, I cannot for the life of me lose these flowers! I beg you!" How could I say no to that? He's begging me for help. I feel that surge of (foolish) bravery crop up, and my chest puffs a moment before I take a deep breath and make a run for it. I rush past several other kjaku as I chase after that dark-pelted thief. It's then that I notice an unpleasant smell-- the same one on the breeze before.
I realize it must be the kjaku that I'm chasing.
'Well, I suppose that it makes it harder for him to get away' I mused.
I can feel my paws pound on the pavement as I continue to chase after that slipper fellow. I can feel my heart beating against my chest-- but I'm not giving up. Even as my fur dampens with sweat, my body begins to tire, and the original pursuer of my prey is no longer beside me I still chase him.
Finally, after what feels like both an instant and an hour, he's made a mistake. He stops short as he almost hits a wall.
The disheveled kjaku turns to me, panting heavily.
He growls a moment as he clutches the flowers to his chest.
"Eheh, w-what are you gonna do about it? I won't give you back those flowers! They're mine now!"I don't reply for a moment as I try to catch my breath. We stand there, staring at one another until I'm able to speak.
"Those... those aren't yours." I manage to reply, but I wince as I realize just how nonthreatening I must seem.
I think for a moment that perhaps I should puff out my wings and stand tall to make myself more intimidating... but that doesn't really seem right. Maybe this time, aggression isn't the key. It doesn't sit right with me.
"Please, the kjaku you took those from really needs them back." I look down to the satchel around my own shoulder for a moment before looking back up to meet his eyes "Please? If you really and truly need them too, then take mine instead." I sigh inwardly as I remove the pack. I need these myself, but not enough to deny someone else theirs.
"It's not as many as what's collected in that basket, but I'm offering them to you. Just give them back the basket when they catch back up, and the sachel is yours." I hope that I'm able to get through to him, I really and truly do.
