-File Number #CC9471- Status: Escaped
Priority Level: High
Notes: This Zver absolutely adores shiny objects. She is not expected to remain in the forest for long.
-Details-
Registered Name: CC9471
Kennel Name: Lyla
Age: Young adult, exact age unknown
Personality: Despite the situation, Lyla seems to be friendly towards humans. She is playful and amusing to be around because of her love of shiny objects and her easy distractability. She loves to play and is good at amusing herself in small spaces, so if anyone is helping her out, she'd be easily smuggled. She tends to be wary around anyone resembling a veterinarian, only because she absolutely hates needles. Lyla is extremely curious, and often times does not hesitate to investigate if she knows it is safe to do so. Lyla does not like yelling or violence as it scares her, and she will often try to hide when confronted with it. Unlike other zvers, she loves other animals, although they do not like her. She if often compared to ferrets, mainly because of her hoarding tendacies. Her personality is constantly shifting and changing, so this may or may not match her perfectly at any given time.

-Application Details-
Why?: I absolutely adore natural patterns, so as soon as I saw her, I knew I had to go for her. She's absolutely gorgeous, and her personality base made me think of myself. I knew I'd be able to write a fully developed personality for her, because it was basically describing myself. The connection I felt with this pretty girl was instant and bonding, there was no hesitation before beginning my form. I also love how her personality base could be for any raccoon on the planet, and her markings are coon markings. She is absolutely perfect for me.
What will you do?: Lyla would go into my signature eventually, along with Atreus, Naruko, Leia, Lowe and Dustin. If I could figure out the logistics of it, she would join all of them in a book and/or roleplay. She would definitely have fanart done of her, although maybe not all done by me.
-Then and Now-
Then: It isn't even known if this zver is a pedigree, as the tests on her have all come up inconclusive. She was captured a few months before her escape, so the scientists were not able to determine much about her past. All we were able to discern was that whatever planet these creatures came from may not have had shiny objects, as she was so shocked and interested in her metal bowl it was amusing to watch.
Now: This zver has escaped. Her whereabouts are unknown, but a hunting team has been deployed to capture her and bring her back.
-Her Story-
"What do you mean, she's gone?!" The angry voice reached me, making me shrink back deeper into the shadows, holding my breath. My hands were braced on the floor and I was crouched, eyes shifting between the row of cells and the guarded door. My legs were gathered beneath me, the muscles tensing and relaxing as I considered my options. Suddenly the door was flung open and a sea of guards ran through. Now was my chance! Surging forward, I sprinted through the doors, my legs flashing. I kept running, pushing myself as hard as I could until I was out of the prison. Once I was in the thick forest surrounding the prison, I slowed to a walk, enjoying my freedom. I kept my senses peeled, listening for any signs of pursuit, relaxing slightly when I didn't hear anything. I smiled as the wind blew through my hair and I stopped, looking over my shoulder at the prison. "I need to get out of this area." I thought, turning as my eyes scanned the forest around me. As fit as I was, I knew this forest would give me some trouble as I tried to make my way through it, but I was bound and determined to try. Bracing myself, I began making my way deeper into the forest and closer to freedom.
-A few weeks later-
My bowl! It's gone!" I narrowed my eyes as I searched my entire cage, but it seemed they'd found where I'd hidden it. Growling slighty, I turned my gaze to the dirty bars of my 'enclosure'. looking for the weakest point to chew through. After studying the door for a good five minutes, I decided that I was going to simply take the door off of it's hinges and began chewing, my ears perked for any signs of human life. As I felt the metal beginning to warp, I put more pressure behind my jaws and gave a quick twisting jerk of my head, waggign my tail when the hinge came off. Dropping it silently on the floor, I braced my forepaws on the wall and began knawing on the second and last hinge. I knew once this one was gone, the door would simply be leaning against its frame and I'd be able to push it to the side and get out. When the hinge was finally laying beside its mate on the floor, I gazed down the long hallway, looking for the scientists. Seeing none, I quickly pushed the door open, wincing at the loud crash it made. Not pausing to see if anyone came running, I sprang from the cage and ran, following a scent that was sweet and musky, ducking under lunging scientists and leaping over grasping hands. Once I made my way out of the main kennel area, all I saw was a stark white hallway lined with doors. Hearing a noise behind me, I panicked, veering off to the right and running full tilt down the hallway. Luckily, I'd chosen the right direction, because as I ran, I saw two wide, clear doors. On the other side, past the sleeping monsters, there was a wall of green, and I instinctively knew that I'd have to make my way towards it. Pinning my ears to my skull and tucking my chin close to my chest, I ran harder, throwing myself into the glass. Shards rained down around and behind me, but I didn't care as I landed on the other side. Taking a moment to yank a large shard of glass out of my paw, I ran, ignoring the twinges of pain at the corners of my eyes. I didn't realize it, but there were two small shards of glass embedded in each eye, and it they weren't removed soon, my vision would be compromised.Slamming doors and yelling had me muttering a low oath as I stepped out of my office. "What's going on here?!" I asked, seeing the chaos that had descended upon my section of Metta's zver containment unit. At the sound of my voice, the movement and yelling ceased, and I counted eleven pairs of eyes all looking at me. "I believe I asked a question. What is going on here?" Nervous glances and silence greeted the question, and I could feel my frustration level rising. "I'm not going to ask again." Finally one of the newest interns stepped forward, his adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed nervously. "S-sir, CC9471 escaped." At those words, red hot anger blazed through me. "Escaped?! Are you kidding me?!" Striding forward, I pushed my way through the mass of interns and scientists, cursing out loud when I saw the busted cage door and the empty cell. Spinning on my heels, I glared at them, pointing to the cage. "Who was assigned to this zver?" At this, the nervous glances happened again, this time tinged with a slightly puzzled embarrassment. "Sir, Rebecca was the one who was watching that pen. After she escaped, no one else was assigned to it." Almost wanting to growl myself, I turned back to the empty cage, thinking. Rebecca had been a very promising student, but suddenly, overnight it seemed, she'd had a change in conscious and decided that she didn't want to study Zvers anymore. She was put into a cell of her own after freeing three Zvers, one of which was never found. Spotting two mangled pieces of metal on the floor, I leaned forward and picked them up. As I realized that the metal was the hinges to the door, I also realized that capturing the escaped creature would need a team of people. Either this zver was extremely intelligent, or someone had helped her out. Something told me it was the former, but I knew that I would need to fully investigate all of the options. Turning, I barked at the intern who'd spoken. "You will be in charge of the search and recover mission, since you're the only one here who will answer my question. Arrange for a trail guide, preferably one who knows of the Zvers, to lead you and the team you chose to find her. Hire some hunters to help track. Make sure they know that killing her is a last resort only." The young man nodded, then ran off to do what I'd told him to. I watched with approval, then made my way to my office to contact his professor and let him know that, depending on his performance capturing this escaped zver, I may be hiring his student at the end of the term.
I looked around at this totally new environment, my ears quivering and twitching at every noise. The human sounds had long since died away, leaving me with the option to explore where I'd run to. Lifting my nose to the air, I pulled the scents around me into my scent pits, wanting to find out more information about where I was. My eyes opened and I looked around, sighing when I found nothing shiny. Only green and animals. Shaking my head, I began walking again, only to freeze when something metallic flashed, catching my eye. Tilting my ears forward, I scanned the horizon, stopping when the sun glinted off of something metal. Too curious to ignore it, I headed in that direction, ignoring the warnings going off in my head. The sound of something coming through the trees made me stop and look, slowly reaching for my rifle. Ever since I'd been hired by that gangly scientist to find this....thing, I was tense and on alert. I'd been warned about how dangerous the creatures were, had even seen it for myself in the bared fangs and crazed eyes of the caged animals. Lifting the weapon and cocking it, I waited, my eyes on the forest around me. Suddenly a masked face was looking back at me through the undergrowth. I lowered the gun, wondering why the raccoons eyes were so far off of the ground. That's when it lunged, removing the gun from my possession and standing over me. The escaped zver! Cursing out loud, I scrambled back towards the gun, but hearing a low, fearful growl, I stopped. Instead of attacking me, like I'd been told she would, the canine-like creature only backed away, obviously frightened. Turning to face her, I studied her, noticing that unlike the others, her eyes were clear and not unfriendly, just scared. I lifted a hand towards her and she silently lifted her lips, revealing her fangs in a warning that I was getting too close. I stopped, but kept my hand held out towards her. Her eyes moved from my hand to my face and back again and she growled again, but her hackles were slowly relaxing. When she took a step towards me and nudged my hand, my breath rushed out, startling me. I hadn't realized I'd been holding it. At the sound, she flinched, but didn't move, her warm tongue darting out of her mouth to taste my hand.
She tasted...funny. I took a step back, my eyes and ears on the human, who looked just a stunned and scared as I was. I could tell that she was looking for something, the signs were all there in the camp she'd made. I also had an odd feeling that I was her target. I'd heard of the Scientists deploying hunters to bring in the escaped zvers, but this one didn't seem to be moving too fast to bring me in. I flicked my ear and tilted my head, my eyes on her. I felt an odd connection with her, almost like there was a thin, unbreakable chain between the two of us. Was this the bond I'd heard of? I'd never felt this way about any human before, not even the ones who fed me, but I'd always thought that the bond would be instantaneous and bold. This felt quiet, but strong. Unfailing and bold, yet thin and inconsequential at the same time. To be honest, it scared me more than the gun she had, and I turned and ran, trying to get away. As I ran, I felt the invisible chain stretch, and pain shot through me. Although not physical, it spurred me on to run even faster, in a frenzied attempt to get away. That is it for my application. If I win Lyla, I will continue with this story.
