Can you explain the claim system to me? Are horses only available for others to claim if that artist is hired? And if an artist claims one of their own entries, does that one become an official horse in their herd?

Hey there! A claim can only be made if you have a claim ticket, and there are different levels of claim tickets (Basic, Advanced, and Epic) that allow you to claim different species (horses, unicorns, and pegasi respectively). Claim tickets can be "Crafted" from HMs that a player gets by working hard on a form for a horse but not placing first. The artist/judge may choose to award those who had outstanding forms with an HM.

If an adopt is posted then a claim ticket may be used unless the artist says they cannot be used. This will allow the player to adopt the horse with no form written.

The way claims work for artist entries is that unless an artist says the design is not for claims, it may be claimed by sending Keen a PM or DM. You may also post on the horses page requesting a claim. The artist does not have to be an artist at the time of the claim, but the horse must be approved for claiming by Keen. Not all designs will be acceptable.

Once a horse is claimed, then yes it will join the herd as a real horse. The fake sign may be removed and the design *may* be recreated on the normal lines if one of the artists wishes to accept the task.
