how did this little fox come to you:
"It was another winter's day and i was on my daily walk with my 4 dogs, Dakota, Toast, Zeus and Zira. I had brung them to a nice rural walk in the hilltops and we were nearing the end of our walk when we heard a nearby gunshot followed by a distressed yelp. I turned my head in the direction of the noise to see one of my dogs, Dakota run off in the same direction, followed by Zira. Toast and Zeus stayed close to me, Zeus growling and facing right from where the noise had been.
I paused for a second, unsure of what was happening. I felt a sinking feeling, as if the soft snow i was stood on had transformed into sinking sand. The pure thought that i was potentially in a dangerous situation had shot right through my mind, stunning me, just as it must have stunned whatever poor creature had just been shot. My poetic thoughts snapped me back into reality. My first instinct was to rush over to the animal and I discovered that I was already moving towards it, Toast and Zeus close behind. I stumbled through the snow and my feed trod heavily, like a clumsy baby elefant taking it's first few steps. I tried to neaten my footwork, only to find myself tripping on a tree root that had been hidden by the blanket of snow. I fell face into the snow with a sudden thud. I struggled up, spitting snow from my mouth. I found Zira in front of me and she licked my face. I felt a sudden sting, as if a hundred bees has stung me on the left size of my forehead. I sat up and felt my face. It had some sort of liquid onbit. I looked at my hand to see it covered in my blood and slammed my face into the snow from fear. I quickly lifted up my hand to see the red-stained handprint i had left. My attention then drifted upwards, away from the ground and my vision focused infront of me. I saw a trail of blood stained pawprints, much like my own bloody handprint. My stomach churned and I shuddered. The red paw prints lead up to an animal that lay underneath a tree.
My brain instantly put the information together. The creature infront of me was all black appart from it's face. It's fur was matted and covered in blood. At the time i could not tell what color the head was, as it was a covered in fresh crimson blood. I instantly forgot about my own wounds to rush over to the animal. I could see that it had been shot somewhere in the back, but it was still breathing. I instantly got out my phone from my pocket, but there was no signal where i was. Annoyed and dissapointed i put my phone back into my pocket. I felt helpless. I wanted to help the poor animal.
Suddenly Dakota dashed off somewhere barking loudly and viciously. I had completely forgot about the dogs, I was too focused on the animal that was, guessing my the body shape, a fox. Zira soon followed Dakota and they were clearly in pursuit of something. Toast and Zeus were no-where to be seen. I assumed they had gone to chase whatever it was too. My attention returned to the fox. Out of options, I picked it up. It was weak, but still rather heavy. I could just about manage the weight. I stood up and began to make a decent down the hill, walking as fast as i could. I tottered down the snowy hillside like a drunk man, cradling the fox in my arms. It's blood coated my clothing as i tried to stop the bloodflow of it's wounds. I managed to apply pressure with the end of my shirt sleeve. I found myself walking towards my car. I paused for a split second, wondering what to do. I called for my dogs and they all came but Dakota. Zira was holding a rifle in her mouth. The sight of the gun stunned me a little. That's when I spotted Dakota who was pulling a short man by the sleeve. The man was yelling and cursing at the top of his breath whilst trying to free himself from Dakota's strong grip. By now i had put the fox on the ground and reached for my phone, hoping there would be a signal. To my releif, there was. I called the police. I turned my attention back to the fox. I took off my jacket and used it as a blanket. I looked in the car boot and found one of Toast's neckerchiefs and used it to clot the foxes wound. It winced in pain, but made no sound but a suttle whine. I then called a friend who was a vet. He lived nearby the area, in the nearest village and was the only person who could make it quick enough.
My friend soon arrived a few minutes later. He attended to the fox and ended up taking it with him to operate on, in hope of saving it's life. Shortly after, the police arrived. I explained the situation and they took the gun from Zira before arresting the man, who was now pinned to the floor by a joint effort of Dakota and Zeus. I returned home a little later with my dogs.
A few hours later I got a call from my friend. Dreading the worst, I hesitated before picking up the phone. Relief flooded over me as I was told good news. The operation was successful and a bullet had been revoved. No organs were damaged and the fox was recovering, however it wouldn't ever be able to return to the wild, as it had severe damage in the spine.
A while later I appeared as a witness at the man's trial, who was proven guilty and sentanced for illegal hunting.
When the fox had recovered my friend rang me again. I was happy that it had recovered well. I was asked if I would be able to look after the fox whilst it looked for someone to home it. I agreed, since I had the space and had some experience with foxes in my childhood. I did worry a bit though, as this fox was previously wild and so it wouldn't be tame like a domestic one. When the fox arrived it seemed afraid of it's new environment. I made it a den at the back of my large garden. After a few hours of thoughy, I decided to name it Larch, as i found it under a larch tree back in the hils."

Fox: 5
name: Suka
age: 9 months
gender: male
how did this little fox come to you: Suka was born on a "fox farm" for his fur(that's where he got his unnatural coloring) he was located at the back of some property that had a no trespassing sign. I heard a cries in distant while I was taking a walk in the woods. Me being the animal lover I am went to investigate even though there was a no trespass sign. I got back there and saw a ton of foxes crammed in cages, but oddly there was only one crying. I called 911 immediately, they got there very quick. Before they got there I was looking around at the cages. I saw the little fox that was making all the noise in the corner of his cage. He had very strange coloring that I had never seen before. I put my finger through the cage hole, and he sniffed my hand. He slowly got up and went to the front of his cage. He stared right at me I could see the pain and fear in his eyes. He had no food or water, and nothing to keep him warm. The police arrived and checked everything out, but they told me they can't take anything off the premises unless they had something from the court. I couldn't leave this little fox here, so I took pictures of everything wrong with this situation. Three days later the police got a note from the court to take everything off the property. All the foxes went with them except one. I begged them not to take Suka they agreed to let me take him home if my parents allowed it, and if he was checked by a vet first. My dad couldn't say no to him, and we took him to the vet. He got his shots, and he was only mostly dehydrated and starving. Now he is living his days happily with his dog brother and cat sister.
