I see staff is working hard to answer everyone's questions, and I apologize for burdening you with another!

I searched around for information regarding this but I wasn't able to find it, so I'm sorry if I had just missed it! However, are kalons allowed to be able to swim without a legendary trait permitting them to do so (Such as the merkalon for example)? Not exactly live underwater or anything, just have the ability- like a dog or a human might.

Sorry if this is a silly question, however better safe than sorry I suppose.

Sure, all Kalons can swim if you'd like them to have learned the skill, or they can also be unable to swim if the character was never taught. It's up to you! But they do have the ability c:

'Ello! So, question. I didn't win kalon 1200 (congrats to the winners!!), but I would still like to transfer the design out of species and just use it as a canine-like creature. However, I have two main concerns. 1) May I keep the ref on the kalon lines temporarily until I can hire an artist to make a new ref sheet off-lines? It will be very difficult for me myself to recreate the design, and it would honestly be so much easier to just keep the design reference on the kalon lines. However, if this isn't allowed, I will try to find someone to transfer them as soon as possible.

2) The shine. The shine is my biggest concern. All the art I ordered would be able to pass as a canine except for the fact that it has a shine. Since I won't be keeping the design as a kalon, do I have to ask the artists to remove the shine from their art? And what happens if they aren't able to?

It's not technically a transfer out of species, as they were never an official Kalon, it's just a design concept as it is currently. Unfortunately though it must be put onto different lines! Kalon lines cannot be used for anything other than Kalon species purposes. Secondly if they're not being made into an official Kalon the shine trait is one specific to our species, and must also be removed. My apologies! ^^

second I actually have a question-
am I allowed to edit the tail of my kalon when growing it where it isn't different but it is in a different position?
I'd like to better show the shine but I wasn't sure if moving the tail position would be considered a "tail edit"

You can somewhat alter the positioning of the tail so long as it's clearly the same edit as the kit reference. For example sometimes the tail on a batch is too long to show straight out on the adult lines, as the canvas isn't wide enough, so an artist will bend it downwards or around to fit.

Are weight edits hereditary?

For example, will two skinny Kalons have children that are thin?

If both parents have weight edits, and they ask for the children to not have weight edits, will this mean the kits will all be of standard weight?

As weight edits are a non-rarity trait, they do not pass likes regular edits in breeding. Therefore it is entirely up to whether you put "yes" or "no" for weight edits on the nursery ticket, and from there it's up to the randomized rolls!

To adopt a Kalon simply click on one of the adoptables on the front page and see if the competition is open. In the main post there will be details about the contest and how to win. Each contest is different and each artist will judge based on different things, which will usually be detailed in the contest guidelines. Most contests involve filling out a form and with the form with the best idea, art, or writing is picked as the winner. It all depends on the specific adopt! If you're unsure of what to do with your forms, you can take a look at some finished competitions and see what the winning forms look like to get ideas.

Runner Ups (RUs) are sometimes awarded, as well as Honorable Mentions (HMs) which can be collected and redeemed for custom adopts. In the main post of this thread, under the header image, there is a directory of links to the various Kalon threads such as the Fanclub, Nursery, and Customs thread. I suggest taking a look at the Fanclub to see what everyone is up to! I hope you find something you like and I wish you luck in winning an adopt. I've never really done the breeding/any nursery things with kalons, so I have a few questions!

When you breed kalons, do you get to keep one (for free, or for payment..?)*
*If yes, if you breed with another person's kalon, do you each get one?
