KrosisWork ;; About an hour after they started decorating, Onai and Maui had collapsed in a kit pile in the middle of the front room. Uncle Vokun and Daddy had been very particular about the decorations, so much so that many of them had to be taken down and put somewhere else multiple times.
Onai lay partially on top of Maui, chin resting on his little brother's shoulders and his eyes heavy. The front room was finally up to standards, and the grownups had moved into another room to decorate, but the both of them were exhausted. He nuzzled Maui's ears lightly. "I'm ready for smores," he murmured in a light complaint.
Maui nodded, yawning. "Me too. I thought we were gonna camp, not spend all night hanging up ghosts and spider webs."
Onai rolled over onto his back, looking up at the spider webs Uncle Krosis had hung from the chandelier. He then looked around at the sheets draped over the furniture. "Hey Maui, why don't we try to spook Daddy Ace and see if that'll get them to make us smores?" he suggested with a grin.
Maui shifted but rose to his paws, pulling over one of the big, dusty sheets. "Let's do it. I'm hungry," he said with a small whine.
Onai grinned and helped Maui pull the sheet over his head before joining him under it. "Ready little brother?" he asked, eyes shining in the dim light under the sheet. It was hard to see from beneath it, but he knew he would be able to find the grownups.
Maui nodded. "Yes. I want my food."
Onai laughed softly and then started guiding him to where he was pretty sure the grownups had gone.
A few minutes later they've finally found the room the grownups are in, although they've run into a little problem. The doorway wasn't wide enough for the both of them to fit through at once, and Onai couldn't tell if they were being watched or not. He looked over at Maui as they waited just beside the doorway. "Climb on top of me," he whispered.
Maui looked confused but did as he was told, making Onai wince and his knees shake. Maui was heavier than he thought! He stood carefully and started walking into the room, Maui moaning above him like a ghost. He was waving his front paws as well, throwing off Onai's balance as he entered the room. He stumbled forward, Maui tumbling to the ground as he tripped and himself falling on top of his little brother. Laughter reached his ears, and he was glad his face was hidden by the sheet because he knew his cheeks were bright red with embarrassment.
Someone pulled the sheet off of them carefully, untangling the two of them with a small chuckle. "Now, what was that all about?" Daddy asked when they were free.
Onai pawed at the wooden floor shyly. "Well... we were thinking maybe we could scare Daddy Ace into making us smores," he admitted.
Uncle Vokun giggled. "I completely forgot we promised you smores before bedtime! Come on, Uncle Krosis and I will make some for you. By the time we're done snacking your dads will have this room finished and we can tell stories before bed."
Maui grinned and walked happily after Uncle Vokun, while Onai waited for Uncle Krosis. "Well, you two do know how to make the best smores," he agreed with a smile. "Just hurry up. I'm hungry."
Uncle Krosis chuckled. "I am too," he murmured.
Uncle Vokun shook his head. "When are you not hungry, Krosis?" he teased as they made their way to the kitchen.
