Hey everyone, I apologize for the many many ups and downs we've had here with snap dragons. In recent months I have turned to sculpting as a serious passion and have very little motivation for designing only on a lineart. I know many of you enjoy snap dragons and I have had a lot of fun making them, but the time has come for them to realize their greater potential.
Snap dragons, therefore, are moving fully off site and into the real world. Permanently.
What this means, unfortunately, is that there will be no more new litters available and this thread will be shutting down. I am also going to be closing the DA group as honestly I find it much easier to share updates via instagram.
I know this will be frustrating for many of you as I have been promising more free snaps for a while now, but I honestly don't find this version of them fulfilling and a lot of the maintenance for them(archiving, organizing, tracking username changes, etc) is impossible with my current schedule with my kids.
If you are interested in continuing to follow snap dragons, check out the instagram link in my signature. I expect to do our first giveaway when we reach 100 followers there, so if you want a chance at a free figurine please do come on by and help us reach that first milestone!
Otherwise, you are welcome to keep and continue to use your snap dragons. Remember you may not sell them as they were free adopts, but you may adopt them out or give them away if you no longer want them.

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ♛ ♛ ● ─Snap Dragons are tiny, chunky, flightless dragons that spend most of their
life sleeping. While sleeping , they open their mouths similar to a venus
fly trap. Their sweet, sugary saliva attracts insects and occasionally small
birds and mammals if the snap is big enough. Once the unfortunate prey
steps inside their open mouth, their jaw snaps shut and the prey is often
swallowed whole. Snaps are highly sought after by collectors who enjoy
keeping them around, not only for pest control, but also for their docile
and lazy demeanor. When kept well fed, snaps make excellent pets... so
long as you don't care that they don't do much!

they are well fed, they stay in one spot and wake only when
swallowing their prey. If they go more than a day without food,
they will seek out a new ' hunting ' ground. The moment a
satisfactory spot has been chosen , they go back to sleep. When
moving, snaps are most often described as being bulldog-like.
They have a slow, lumbering gait and have very little concern for
their surroundings. If threatened , however , they can move
surprisingly fast and are known to disappear into undergrowth
and holes in the ground to escape.

BREEDING / /Once yearly the breeding season rolls around. At this time snaps go into a sort of anti-GENERAL CARE / /
hibernation mode and neither sleep nor eat for a full two months. During this time
they slim down significantly as they're in almost constant motion as they seek a
partner. As soon as they've bred, males return to their average behavior while females
seek out a safe place to lay their clutch. The eggs are often buried beneath a thin
layer of dirt and foliage. Once they're safely buried, the female abandons the nest and
returns to her hunting grounds as well. After about three months, roughly mid-summer
, the eggs hatch and the babies set off to find food. They are entirely independent
from hatching, necessary because snaps would be terrible parents considering their
sedentary lifestyle. These dragons are highly sought after by collectors who enjoy keeping them for their
docile demeanor. As long as they are kept well fed and provided a safe place to sleep
-eat, they will stick around and won't leave in search of better 'hunting'. If they really
like their keeper, they can even be allowed to leave during the breeding season as
they'll return on their own with no more prompting than promises of continued bounty
with minimal effort on their part. If not, maintaining a steady environment with no
major climate changes will not signal their bodies to produce the hormones necessary
for the breeding season and they will remain dormant year-round.
