lore

Nianteres are spoken of only in passing, as stories told to children right before bed or a muttered comment when one cannot sleep. They are said to be small sheep, capable of flying through the keyhole of a locked bedroom door or window, who collect the dreams of sleepers. These dreams are used to form a beautiful pearl, they say it takes thousands of dreams to create one of these fine pearls. The pearls are made up of all the passing thoughts one may conjure up into their sleeping minds. There are those who will spend their lifetime hunting down these rare pearls, believing them to hold the key to a peaceful life, to revenge, to eternal life.
Little is known about the Nianteres. Some say they are very small and are like pixies, others have said they’ve seen the long-tailed figures hiding amongst the flocks of sheep, believing them to be the same size as sheep themselves. Some say they can slip through walls like ghosts, others believe they have the ability to unlock any door or window that they wish. A lot of mystery remains with these nocturnal creatures.
Among the Niantere kind, there is a gathering of them called the Hauntings. These Niantere are the most skilled at stealing away nightmares from sleepers, but because of this their appearances tend to be more frightening and unnatural. However, many are not cruel or horrid creatures, many Hauntings are actually friendly and wish nothing but the best for those around them. Hauntings are commonly born on the darkest of nights or during the times when sleepers are more likely to have nightmares.

Nianteres vary in appearance. These MOA are ranked by stars. The more stars, the higher the rarity. All Nianteres will rank as a "One Star." A Niantere's wool can be changed freely and styled as the owner wishes.

general rules

• this is a closed species, you cannot make one without my permission.
  
• ownership limit of 20 adopted Nianteres.
• unlimited ownership limit on custom Nianteres.
• you are permitted to edit the base of your Niantere to change their expression, add accessories, or style their wool.
• Nianteres cannot be sold for real or virtual currency. They can be gifted and traded.
• designs can be transferred to other closed species. As long as your receive permission from the artist of the original design, myself, and the owner of the new species.
• custom pearls (aka MYO slots) cannot be resold. They can be gifted and traded for a preexisting Niantere, another custom pearl, or official Niantere shop items.
• Nianteres can be your fursona if you obtain the permission of the original artist and myself.
• Nianteres can be drawn as a human or any other non-closed species creature.
• rules will be changed and tweaked as I see fit.

custom/growths/revamp rules

• customs/growths/revamps must be accepted. In order to achieve receiving an accepted design remain one must place a "cover" above the design (a colored layer at 80-90% opacity) with the words "needs approval" written on the cover and a link to a screenshot of the finished design. Once a staff member posts their approval the cover can be removed.
  
• revamps are permitted if the user has obtained a Solar Potion (see store). This allows for the user to update the Niantere's design (fix linework, color bleed, strange markings) but not allow the user to change the design completely.
• remaking a design is permitted with the use of a Solar Potion (see store). This allows for a user to completely remake a design, changing the markings and adjusting the colors, but not changing the edits. They will need the permission of the original artist to do so.
• When growing a niantere lamb: they have no set pearl color and you are free to choose what their pearl ends up looking like. However, you cannot make the pearl translucent. Only lambs with the translucent pearl trait can have a translucent pearl.
• All changes, such as adding or removing an edit, must be approved of.

breeding rules

• can be bred only 5 times
  
• can have four official partners at once
• can breed outside of their partnerships
• can be any gender/sexuality. Any gender/sexuality can be bred together.
• max of 4 offsprings in one breeding
• cannot breed a lamb with an adult
• cannot inbreed
• users must wait 3 months after breeding their Nianteres in order to breed again.
• lambs can be grown after 2 weeks

• do not beg or whine for a Niantere
• do not post "good luck" on a closed competition as a way to bump it (if you are concerned that an artist is taking too long to judge a contest, please PM me.) You are permitted to wish good luck after a contest ends, but not in access.

• If an artist cannot judge a competition within four weeks of it ending, then another staff member or myself can judge the contest in their place. If an artist continues to leave their competitions unjudged then they will lose their position on the team.

recognition ticket system | aka honorable mentions

An artist may award users with tickets if they feel that the users entries deserves recognition despite not winning the adopt. These tickets can be exchanged for items in the store.


• Tickets cannot be transferred between people.
  
• Items from the store can be transferred and one can use their Tickets to purchase an item for someone else.
• There is no limit to how many Tickets can be given out in one contest, nor how many tickets one can have at once.
• When making a purchase in the store - link to the posts where the Tickets were received.

guest artists

• will be given a trial period before becoming official artists.
  
• guest artists must complete and judge 5 designs before being chosen as an official artist.
• guest artists will receive one Sky Pearl upon completing their trial run.

how to purchase

Recognition Tickets can be obtained while trying out for Niantere adopts. They are received when an artist feels like a user's form should be recognized for the work they put into it, but cannot be the winner. By collecting up these tickets, users may purchase item from the store. These items can be used to make custom Nianteres and edit preexisting Nianteres.

In order to purchase an item from above you must:
