I've got a little question. I entered a competition and while I didn't end up winning the Viscet, I was awarded an RU, and I decide to not cash it in. It's been two-ish months since the competition ended; should I PM the artist to inquire about the RU or not say anything? I'm a little hesitant on the wording of this question because it could easily make me sound like an impatient prat, but I sort of want to know about that RU's status in case I see a main thread adopt that I really like and want to try out for it.

I'm on mobile so pardon for any misspells here---
You're question confused me at first, mostly the cashing in part but I think I understand now. Alright so to be clear what you are saying is that you accepted the RU (didn't trade it in for stubs) and are currently awaiting the status on that. Also you've seen an adopt you'd like to try for but are worried the ru will affect you being able to try out for it. Is that all correct? Because if so here is my response.
It's not rude to politely pm the artist about the ru asking how it's coming along. Asking for a timeframe of when it'll be completed however may be a bit on the rude side and is ill advised as artists do have lives and things get out off unintentionally. However there is something I think you've missed somewhere in our rules. RUs due to their nature only count against the month the original adopt was posted in and only against the monthly limit it would have been won against had you have won the original adopt. So let's say you won this RU in May or even April, it doesn't matter how late the RU is from the original comps date---- it'd still count for the month of the original adopt. (e.g. April or May) so long as you did not win an adopt in the month of the original adopt's competition then you're clear. (However if you already won a different adopt in that month then you RU cannot be claimed because of how the monthly claims work.)

ah, sorry for my strange wording ^^; thank you for your reply, though! i always thought that RUs counted for the month that they were made in and when someone would claim them and not during the month of the original adopt's competition. seems like i'll have to go and review the rules again, just to be sure that i didn't miss anything else like that little tidbit.

If you look at the available adopts here, you will find all of the non-currency adopts open for adoption. Viscets are not an exclusively or majorly costly species; currency adopts are not dominant over regular adoptions, don't worry! They are occasional, as are customs.
The front page is just a bit full right now since it's the later end of the month and there are still lots of main thread adopts open (and users can only win one of those per month!). You should also take a look at our GA adopts, which have a separate one-per-month limit. PPS batches and readoptions/community hosted adopts are unlimited for any and everyone to participate in and win, so definitely check those out, too!
edit;; also -- for future reference, a blue, green, or yellow UFA sign means it is a currency adopt (stubs, dA and C$ respectively) while white means it is a regular non-currency adopt.
please stop asking me to give you my viscets. thank you!

Hey guys, I have a question. I've been trying to understand from the info but I haven't been able to find anything on it...
What is the difference between an event rare trait and a roaming event rare trait? What exactly does the 'roaming' part of it mean?
It's probably explained somewhere and I've missed it like a big dork, lol.
ForUM is the place you are reading this. A foRM is a set of questions you fill out.

Roaming Event Rare Traits are additionally and can occur together with pretty much any other trait (especially Event Rares), which is why they are called "roaming" ((- exception is, of course, always, if the traits would happen to apply to the same area. You cannot have Finned Tufts and Feathered Tufts both, makes sense))
Event Rare Traits, on the other hand, cannot. Especially: There can only be one Event Rare trait on a Viscet. So there is no Viscet that has, say, Finned Mane plus a Mermaid Tail or a Mermaid Tail plus Mist Mane etc.
BUT: As to be seen on the adopts from the current Summer Event, Event Rare traits and roaming traits can be combined. Finned Tufts, which apply to cheeks, all four legs and now even the tail, for example, can be put (by the artist) onto a Viscet with any Event Rare trait, such as Mist Mane, Finned Mane etc.
I hope that helped? c:
