Coldwater Creek Walkers | Breed Information

Postby iStarz & Everly » Sun Nov 27, 2016 3:38 am

This is a quick write up about the breed to come. Nothing is set in stone ore finished.

· long, flowing mane & tail
· wide, muscular chest
· lean, slender body
· graceful head
· long, thick neck
· large shoulders

Breed history:
· originally used for western type riding, but now they can preform very well in english diciplines (most famously dressage and show jumping). Theu also preform very well in Saddle Seat.
· this breed should never be used in heavy carriage driving necause of their fragile legs.
· bred using Tennessee Walkers but adding in Quarter Horses for all around western preformance; appaloosas and paints for coloration and to increase western performance before adding saddlebreds and fox trotters to keep the gaitedness and increase the breed's height. After a while, people wanted a taller, more athletic horse with endurance so they cross bred with the thoroughbred and arabian. Ultimately it was accepted and they then back bred into tennesee walkers to complete the breed in the early 2000's now Coldwater Walkers are an official breed.

Breed Qualities:
· twins are fairly common in the breed and happen some 20-25%
· because twins are common, chimeric is also fairly common in the breed and usually happens in 25% of twin pregnancies. (There is no current record of a twin birth with both twins having a chimeric coat yet)
· brindle is uncommonly seen in the breed, but it is not rare
· inverted markings are seen in the breed but they are very rare
· hidden tobiano is a very common to common marking
· appaloosa is an common to rare marking, depending on the type and size

Wild Walkers -

Wild Coldwater Walker Chips can be won, found, traded, or bought. They are very unique, each chip can be traded in for a special walker. But you are taking a chance with each chip, they do not guarantee you will get a Walker you will like.

However, with each chip, you get to choose the defult base color or gene for the horse you will redeem with it. For example if you choose bay as the defult, you will get some sort of bay based walker, it could be a silver seal bay or just a regular cherry bay. They could be solid or could be marked. Its all random, using random.org.

To use your chip, post to have the result generated, I will let you know what you rolled, and you have the choice to use, sell, or trade it. If you sell/trade it, I will not re-roll for the person you sell it too.

Good Luck

Re: Coldwater Creek Walkers | Breed Information

Postby iStarz & Everly » Sat Jun 17, 2017 9:55 am

Breeding Info:

Breeding horses is a simple task, only male/female pairs are available for breeding. You can pull straws and eggs from your stallions and mares upon request. Once this happens, you can use a surrogate mare and get a foal that way.

Egg + Surrogate + Stallion = foal
Egg + Surrogate + Straw = foal
Mare + Stallion = foal
Mare + Straw = foal

Their is no maximum on the amount of foals a mare can produce, but their are limitations. Horses cannot breed before 4 years of age and after the age of 18 years. There are risks of foaling complications after a mare is over 15 years old. Mares will also age 1 year after having a foal. So please keep that in mind.

Stallion's straws, and the eggs from mares can be pulled at your request, but these are pricy procedures. They are helpful when you have a mare or stallion you really like, but haven't found the perfect match for yet.
Eggs and straws cannot be pulled before 4 years of age, or after 18 years, however, you can only pull 10 eggs total from a mare and 10 straws from a stallion. There is no cooldown on pulling eggs and straws from your horses.
The amount of straws/eggs you pull will be kept track of on your horse's page, but as for who you sell them too, or use for yourself, that must be taken accurate track of by you.
Foals will also be tracked on your horse's page, but you should keep track of them as well.

Passing Rates:

Chimeric - 25%; 40% 2 parents
Melanism - breedable
Dominant White - breedable
Somatic - 30%; 50% 2 parents
Brindle - breedable
Blindness - 20%; 30% 2 parents
Vitiligo - 25%;
Irregular Marks - individualized per artist
Inverted Marks - 40%; 60% 2 parents
Inverted Brindle - 30%; 50% 2 parents
Manchado - breedable; passes like overo

Gene Chips:
You can request to add a gene to be added to a horse, but it will be hidden on the coat and not show, it will pass in breedings and show on foals, though. Or you can request that an existing gene to be made dominant, so that it always passes to foals.
   · Common Gene Chip - 1,500c
   · Uncommon Gene Chip - 3,000c
   · Rare Gene Chip - 5,000c
   · Very Rare Gene Chip - 7,500c

Wild Walker Chips:
WW Chips are similar to import chips in that after turning them in, you recive a horse. The only difference is that WWCs are completely random. You do not get to choose anything.
There are perks though, you get to choose the rarity of what type of walker you want. Once you choose a rarity, you can pick from the group og coat classes in that rarity.

The coat classes are as follows:
Black, Bay, Chestnut, Dun, Cream, Pearl, Champagne, Roan

Once you pick a coat class, and submit your chip for rolling, you will be generated a response with the coat color, markings, and gender of your horse. Then you can choose to create your walker, hang onto the chip in your bank, or sell the chip to another player.

Please note that once your chip has been rolled, you can not get it re-rolled. If you choose to sell it, the next owner gets the roll that was given. No re-rolls.

· Very Common WW Chip - 2,500c

If you dont shoe your horse, trimming must be kepts up on your horses every 2 training sessions (2 years).
If you do choose to shod your horse, you will be required to reshoe & balance your horses shoes every 2 training sessions (2 years). However, horses cannot be shod until after 4 years of age.

Re: Coldwater Creek Walkers | Breed Information

Postby iStarz & Everly » Sat Jun 17, 2017 9:58 am

Breed Information:

Creating The Breed:

In the late 1980's, a group of well established Tennessee Walker breeders took a stand against the 'big lick way' of showing. They decided to break away from their upper class horse society and create a new breed that would have the high natural gate to rival the big lick, without the harsh training techniques. They first culled their herds, only using the greatest dams and sires to create the foundation for their new breed. They began by cross breeding to the Andalusian and Lipizzan for their large size, grace, and fluid movement, before breeding into quarter horses for their determination and western performance. Appaloosas and Paints were also added for coloration and to boost all-around dicipline skills. The resulting horses were bred to Saddlebreds, Fox Trotters, and then in to Tennessee Walkers again to keep the gaitedness and to increase the breed's height.
The breed was begining to be accepted by the public until people realized the horses didn't have as much of an athletic ability as the creators first promised. People began crossing the new Walkers with Thoroughbreds and Arabians to make up for this set back. After a few years, it was decided that the addition of the Thoroughbred and Arabian gave a positive outcome and bettered the breed, giving them a more athletic apperance and better endurance than before. At the end of developing the breed, the Tennessee Walker was added on yet again to remind us all where the breed first started. The first official, registered Coldwater Walker was born on August 19th, 2017.

Breed Personality:
Coldwater Walkers are known for their determination, but quiet manor. They are gentle, quiet, and affectionate. They are a very flexible breed and adapt well to almost any dicipline. This breed is also known for being a bit stubborn, as their determination to please their owner can make some horses hard to work with. They are generally not a first time owner breed, but horses with the correct dispossition can definately be great for a beginner rider and owner. Coldwater Walkers are very loyal and tend to join up with one or two specific individuals, but will be relaxed and comfortable around many others if well socialized.

Breed Notes:
· originally used for western type riding, but now they can preform very well in english diciplines (most famously dressage and saddle seat). While they can also preform very well in show jumping, great caution and care must be taken of their front legs as they are very thin.
· this breed should never be used in heavy carriage driving because of their somewhat fragile front legs.

Breed Attributes:
· Long, thin front legs
· Built hindquarters
· Athletic body
· Gaited (able to preform the rack as well as the fox trot if taught)
· long, flowing mane & tail
· slightly owtwardly dished face/roman nose (baroque horse type)
· wide, muscular chest
· lean, slender body
· graceful head
· large eyes
· large ears
· small, delicate feet
· long, thick neck
· large shoulders

Breed Qualities:
· twins are fairly common in the breed and happen some 20-25%
· because twins are common, chimeric is also fairly common in the breed and usually happens in 25% of twin pregnancies. (There is no current record of a twin birth with both twins having a chimeric coat yet)
· brindle is uncommonly seen in the breed, but it is not rare
· inverted markings are seen in the breed but they are very rare
· hidden tobiano is a very common-common marking
· appaloosa is an common to rare marking, depending on the type
· eye colors usually range from green to blue to hazle; browns are common as well, while red, purple, orange, and yellow are rare to see.
· creams are well seen in the breed
· pearls are seen in the breed but they are fairly uncommon

Re: Coldwater Creek Walkers | Breed Information

How To Guide:

Step 1: Registration

To begin, you will need to register, this is a simple task and everyone is very welcome to join the community.
To register, you just need to post the following simple form to the main thread. It's basically introducing yourself to the community.

Form:
Code: Select all
 Username:
 Barn Name & Link:

Everyone is automatically accepted to the sim, and your barn will be added to the registry as soon as possible. If you do not see your barn name/link on the registry post within a week or so, please feel free to pm me or a mod to add it to the list.

Along with registering, you might want to set up your bank account. Each player is responsible for taking care of their account and managing their own income and expenses. Each player starts with 20,000e to begin the game. Money is used to purchase horses, upgrades, tack, farrier services, vet treatments, and many other things in the SIM.
Keeping an accurate account of your money is a very important necessity to the game.

Step 2: Starting Out

Once you have registered, you can begin to look for your first horse. There are a few ways to do this.
- Purchasing an Import (Custom)
- Breeding a pair of horses with won, given, or purchased slots
- Adopting through the SIM
- Purchasing from a player through the market or auction
- Rehoming from a player
- Winning Competitons or being lucky in Discovery

You will be able to get a Walker most easily from adopting directly from the SIM artists. Adopting competitons can range from personality develompent, impression comps, to simple raffles and naming comps.
Sometimes artists will offer free imports as we will call them in the SIM. Imports are the SIM's version of customs. These are usually short time offers and availability will not usually last long.

There are a few things to know after you get your first horse. All horses that are up for adoption from the artists or are created by imports will be 4 years of age, unless they are bred and put up for adoption, or there is an event going on that involves younger horses or foals.

Horses must be trained in order to age up, recieve bonuses for competions, and to have foals (for mares).

Step 3: Competitons & Discovery

Once you have your first horse(s) you will want to participate in competitons right away to make money. To do this, however, you will be required to purchase items from the store, as well as vaccinate and test your horse.

To compete, a horse must be coggins tested, as well as vaccinated for a few common equine diseases including; Tetanus, West Nile Virus, Rabies, and Strangles.
Vet visits are critical. Vaccines and Coggins must be taken care of one inital time as a yearling before your horses can be entered in halter class or regular shows, and again every 4 training sessions.
Horses can randomly catch illnesses in the SIM. These will be rolled for every training session.

Horses must also be given a discipline. Each horse may only focus in one discipline, but will always be able to show in halter class on the side.
Once a discipline is chosen, owners will be required to obtain the correct equipment for their horse ro be able to compete.
The better the tack, the more skill points they give your horse, that betters the chance your horse has in placing in competitons, so this is where managment of money plays its part.

Training also helps a horse preform better in competions. Each horse can be trained once a week they will age 1 year and earn experience points(XP) as well as skill points. There is a small chance when training that the horse will not cooperate and will not earn XP or skill, sometimes even deducting a point or two. This is all to keep the realism in the SIM.
Horses can be trained the same day they are adopted/imported, or two weeks after they are "born" if it is a bred horse.

Horses can compete in halter class as a yearling or older. For the rest of competitons, they must be 4 years old or older.
Each owner can only enter 1 horse in halter class, and 2 horses in regular comps.

In discovery, horses can be any age, this is a way to make a bit of quick cash or find some items and freebies. It is free to enter, and you are guaranteed to win something.
Each owner may only enter 2 horses in discovery at one time.
Horses will recieve a 2 week discovery cooldown after prizes have been given out.

Step 4: Breeding

Breeding horses is a simple task, only male/female pairs are aloud. While you can pull straws and eggs from your stallions and mares respectively. Once this happens, you can use a surrogate mare and get a foal.

Egg + Surrogate + Stallion = foal
Egg + Surrogate + Straw = foal
Mare + Stallion = foal
Mare + Straw = foal

Step 5: Event Participation

Events are a major part of the day-to-day of the SIM, there will usually always some type of event going on.

Here is a rough schedule of events:
