Written from his perspective, like a journal entry.

There were tales of merfolk that gained legs after they beached themselves on dry land. Once their tails dried out, they became legs. I dreamed of walking on my own two legs and exploring the world on dry land, so strange and miraculous, compared to the world under the waves. Recklessly, I dreamed of the world I didn't know. Like an idiot, I tried it.

During high tide, I dragged myself out of the ocean's waters and onto the sand. Once low tide came, the water was far, far away. My body dried out, but I stayed the same. I thought I was going to die. I tried to drag myself back into the water, but my arms were too weak. Just as I breathed what I thought was going to be my last breath, I heard someone's voice. I couldn't make out the words, though. I was too far gone.

Some wierdo picked me up. They collect beautiful things, and I guess I'm part of that collection now. Living in a bathtub isn't so bad, I guess.
