Workshop One - Writing Prompt

Kalon Name: Sylvan Lark
Link to Kalon: character site // original page
Prompt:
Sylvan is everyone's mom friend. He has something of a silver tongue and is renowned for it; but he's also something of a pushover, and he's reluctant to say no to someone he considers a friend. He kind of relies of everyone else's kindness to make sure he doesn't get worked over. He's not necessarily gullible but he will believe what a friend tells him, whether he suspects it is a lie or not. In this vein Sylvan is very particular with his friends, but once you've earned his trust you're likely to have it for life. Sylvan never doubts his friends and expects the best from them, and generally that's what he gets. There's something inherently invigorating about Sylvan's faith in people that make people want to be their best. He used to be a merchant and so he's got a good head for numbers, and if he's stressed about something he's liable to sit down and work a couple equations. He is usually fine with deferring to a more dominant personality in a conversation and is more of a follower than a leader; but that doesn't stop his friends from following him. He mother-hens terribly when he's worried about someone.

-----

Workshop One - Day One Exercise

What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name?
Sylvan Lark. His first name is Sylvan, he has no middle name, and his surname isn't exactly Lark; it's more of a title he inherited from his dad. His father was a famous merchant and called The Lark rather than by name, and when he died at sea Sylvan took over his trade routes. He kind of got the name as well, and when he defected and became a pirate he kept the name as a sort of reminder of his past. He mostly goes by Sylvan; those who call him Lark are primarily those who knew him during his brief stint as a merchant.

Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like?
His face claim would be Nitin Chauhan; he's Middle Eastern, rather dark skinned, has very dark hair. His hair is actually dark blue, like in his feral ref, but it seems black in most lights. His eyebrows and stubble are very dark blue as well. He's got somewhat startling eyes, what with the broad band of yellow and the narrow speck of blue at the iris, and he's been called 'arresting'. Like most of his family he has high cheekbones and sharper facial features, including a rather geometric jawline. He keeps his hair quite short so that it lays tousled over his forehead and ears, and cuts it regularly so it doesn't ever get too long.

Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted?
Sylvan knew his father only a little; he was a famous merchant, and was often at sea. He was raised by a neighbor that he called Aunt Marge, although she had no blood relation to him. He is unsure of who his mother was or if he has any other siblings; he was the only one officially recognized by his father. He's married in the way of the sea to Solomon, which both consider binding but has no real legal ramifications. Sylvan would consider Solomon his closest family than, as Marge remains back in Burya and his father has been dead for over ten years.

Who is your Kalon the closest too? Why?
Definitely Solomon. Solomon saved his life once and Sylvan saved his life in return and they've been inseparable ever since. Solomon is technically his boss, given that he's his captain, but they have an unorthodox relationship despite it. They are nearly attached at the hip and they go everywhere together. Solomon excels at reading the seas and the waves; Sylvan is talented at reading the skies. Working together they are a ferocious team on their ship.

What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it?
Sylvan is a pirate. He used to be a merchant, a career he despised, and he fell into piracy when his merchant ship was stolen from him and Solomon fished him from the water. Sylvan ended up joining the crew in an effort to stop a plot to kill Solomon, and then stayed afterward when Solomon asked him to. Sylvan had never wanted to be a merchant but from his father he had learned to love the sea; and being a pirate seemed like the next best thing to do. He does love aspects of it, and he would never get along well if he didn't have Solomon as a captain, as the man does not encourage blind violence but rather subtleties and negotiations. Sylvan wouldn't have the heart to be a more traditional type of pirate.

List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
Sylvan loves the sea, the weather, the patterns and shapes one can spot in clouds. He's got a soft spot for cat videos on YouTube, depending on if he's in a modern AU. He really loves people and making friends and making tricky alliances and drafting up a foolproof plan. He loves playing little tricks on his friends. He's not super fond of the heat and he doesn't like crowds if he's alone; and on that topic he doesn't like being alone much at all. He's gotten far too used to the crew surrounding him to like walking somewhere without at least one or two of them.

What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength?
His biggest strength and weakness are synonymous; and they are both his inherent kindness. Sylvan will make excuses for a friend no matter what they have done, because to him they are a friend, they are trusted, they are something extraordinary. He struggles sometimes with realizing that people have faults within them, and that those cannot always be ignored. But his kindness is also his biggest strength; many people running into a pirate ship are pleasantly surprised to see someone of his nature.

Workshop One - Day Two Exercise

Kalon Name: Solomon
Link to Kalon: character page // adopt page
Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
Solomon grew up on a merchant ship. He remembers his childhood fondly; but his family struggled to pay their way and so they retired to Ireland to try their hand at farming. Solomon dreaded being stuck on land and he begged his parents to change their mind; but they didn't, and they bought a little patch of land, and they stuck their old boat in a bay. Solomon idealized his oldest brother Kearney and he spent most of those first few days trailing after him, miserable, remembering out loud his favorite memories of the sea. Kearney said nothing; but then, a few weeks after they'd landed, he came to Solomon in the middle of the night and told his little brother he was leaving. "I miss the sea," he said, "I miss the freedom." He stamped a kiss to Solomon's head and left.

Solomon went after him a few years later, desperate for the sea, grown on his brother's stories that he sent home in scrawled letters. He was a pirate, he said, but he defeated bad guys; he was a hero. He was making every place landed better. Solomon shortly found out that wasn't true; his brother had become one of the most feared pirates on the sea, and was captain of the ship he had taken from their parents. By the time Solomon reached the ship though, docked in an infamous pirate bay, Kearney was dead and his usurper captain. Solomon ended up killing the man himself, in an effort to roust him from the ship, and became captain in short order; but the loss of his brother stayed with him for years after. Even now he walks a fine line between piracy and lawfulness; he is careful with his kills, his thefts. He likes to believe he learned something from Kearney, despite the boy proving himself a liar.

Workshop One - Day Three Exercise

Kalon Name: Calliope
Link to Kalon: character page // custom approval
Do they keep promises, or break them? Why?
Keep them. While Calli comes off as gruff and careless, he actually has a finely honed sense of honor; and if he's given his word to do something, he'll keep it. Due to this he's rather careful about what exactly he promises, and to whom. It's sometimes difficult to extract a promise from him, depending on the complexity of it, because Calli regards it as binding law. He inherited this attitude from his father, a mild Southern man who treated his neighbours with the same loyalty. He instilled in his son a belief that promises were not to be broken, no matter what sacrifices were required to uphold them.

Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why?
A loner. Calli is more comfortable being alone and he hates being told what to do. He wouldn't make a very reliable leader either; he tends to be snappish if he's stressed, and the responsibility of leadership would definitely stress him out. He doesn't like being relied on at all honestly, a fact that his few friends have to adapt to in order to get along with him. He doesn't mind having more aggressively minded friends, so long as they don't expect him to do what they say.

If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be and why?
Calli was very close to his parents and they've both passed now, so if he could change anything it would be losing his mother. He keeps his hair long in memory of her and they were very close; but when she got sick he stayed at medical school, placated by her reassurances that she was getting better. She never did though, and she died while he was on his way home. He regrets that he listened to her, that he didn't just take a semester off to keep her company while she was in the hospital. If he could change anything, he would change that.

Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not?
Not especially. Calliope is very short (he stands at five foot even) and his mother always loved him with long hair, so he's had it past his waist for years. He's mistaken quite frequently as a girl, when considering both physical traits. He's always quite thin and slender, so it doesn't ever surprise him; and while he does occasionally irritate him it doesn't hurt his feelings either. He's always been rather hard-headed, and he doesn't have time to give a hoot about what other people think.

Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict?
Oh man, definitely argue. Calli is constantly challenging people to fight him, which is bad for Calli because he's tiny and a terrible fighter. But the reality of it doesn't derail his aggression, and if someone upsets him he will 100% attempt to draw them into a physical scuffle.

Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan?
Calli likes structure. He excelled in med school, which perhaps tells you enough. He likes having a schedule and knowing what he's doing, but he's not so particular that he has to have the times wrote down. It's more akin to him waking up in the morning and having a set idea with what he is going to accomplish that day, and then going on to do it.

Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics?
Calli acts like he's tough and doesn't care about anybody but if he finds hurt or abandoned animals he will nurse them back to health without hesitation. He's done this his entire life, and he's usually careful about not getting attached so he can return them to the wild, but a male red-winged blackbird he raised has refused to leave. He tends towards birds but he's raised deer and various other baby mammals. As a doctor he dabbles in vet medicine and when he's been caught out for nursing a baby raccoon back to health before he simply said he was just 'practicing'.

Workshop One - Day Four Exercise

Kalon Name: Seneca
Link to Kalon: character page // nursery batch page
Write about them interacting with their favorite thing:
Seneca wakes to their brother caged between their knees. "Get up," he hisses, his eyes bright in the low light wafting in through the half-drawn curtains. "Wake up, Seneca."

Seneca makes a slight noise and opens their eyes. The sun is just creeping over the trees that crowd their far window, and it lays in thin stripes across their carpet. They sit up begrudgingly, running a gloved hand backward through their hair, disrupting the wayward curls. "What, Zeke?" They ask, smothering a yawn, matching their brother's whispered tone without conscious thought. They have been together since birth, after all, since infancy, through abandonment, through finding Jonquil, through finding a tentative sense of normalcy in their life. At sixteen, they are still reliant on the other.

"It's Father's Day," he says, as though that explains what he is doing in Seneca's bedroom, at nigh five am. Seneca squints at him and tries to make sense of it and belatedly does.

"Oh," they said, thinking of Jonquil sleeping downstairs, the man who found two strange babies in a playground and brought them home and made them his. They nod, bite back another yawn, push at Ezekiel so he'll get up. "Lemme grab some clothes. You get started on breakfast."

Ezekiel disappears downstairs, swift-footed, leaving a sticky, gooey kiss on Seneca's forehead. They wipe the poison absentmindedly, shrugging into a worn sweatshirt, a pair of jeans that show glimpses of their knees. They follow Ezekiel downstairs when they are satisfied that they are awake enough to manage steps, and finds their brother in the kitchen fiddling with the stove.

"Eggs," they say, to distract him from whatever monstrosity he is attempting to conceive that requires the oven. They point to the fridge and then take their usual place at the counter to begin work on the pancakes. The brothers work in companionable silence, broken often by affectionate nudges and words. Seneca corrects Ezekiel's toast when he turns away to do the bacon and leaves it smoldering; Ezekiel flips Seneca's pancakes when they duck beneath the cover to find more flour.

They work well together, always have, always will. Seneca cannot imagine a time in their life when there might be someone other than Ezekiel they expect to see at their shoulder. It's disconcerting to even imagine it; so they focus on breakfast instead, on compiling a plate, on hunting down the same tray they used last year that has since disappeared into the house's closets.

Ezekiel quiets as the clock creeps closer to eight, Jonquil's usual wake-up time, and joins Seneca at the stove, where they finish the last of the pancakes. He leans in close so that their hips bump and scrutinizes his brother's creations, reorganizing with good will Seneca's stack of flapjacks so the best looking few are at the top.

"Jon will probably cry," he says off-hand, startling a laugh from Seneca and a Look.

"We did this last year," they tell him. "He won't cry."

Ezekiel snorts, but he is smiling when he says, "He cried last year, Senny. Not that much has changed."

Seneca thinks for a minute. Ezekiel recently started at a public high school, citing boredom with the homeschool curriculum. Seneca knows it is just because Ezekiel wants to see new things, do new things; but he still comes home from school and flops dramatically over the foot of Seneca's bed and demands they help him with his homework, so it is as though nothing really has changed. They smile to think of it, this tenuous grasp on adolescence, and nod.

"Alright," they say and they hear Jonquil's door edge open, the usual slippered shuffle into the hall. "Ten dollars says he cries."

Ezekiel snorts. "I said he would," he says, but he takes Seneca's hand nonetheless and promises, "You're on."

Workshop Two - Writing Prompt
Kalon Name: Katya
Link to Kalon: character page // adopt page
Prompt:
When Katya was very young both their parents died. There had been an illness spreading through the cities, taking lives in the dozens; and so the orphanage was crowded with children, and Katya was simply added to the queue. Queen Arisha, by then mother to a five-year-old Pasha, visited the local orphanages in response to the sickness to generate money and bring the public's eye to the problem; and there she saw Katya, sitting placidly in a room buzzing with other kids, watching the queen with quiet, intelligent eyes. Arisha fell in love.

She brought Katya home that same day, signed the papers that ensured them as heir, told their husband politely that they had a new child; and then introduced Katya to Pasha. The children got along fabulously well; Pasha took to Katya like a duck to water, and they became quickly and quite immediately inseparable. They grew up together, grew strong, learned who they were and what they wanted to do with their life; and when Pasha was sixteen and Katya eleven their father the king died.

Arisha, Queen only through marriage, became Queen in the entirety of the word; and she overhauled the country, worked on poverty levels and job opportunities and everything else her husband had ignored. Pasha became heir apparent officially, Katya being second in line to the throne. And since Arisha's ascension Katya was given more freedom than they had had before, so they taught themselves to shoot with a bow and arrow and hunt and sail, and when they were twenty-one they fell in love. They began dating the pirate queen Baozhai shortly after the birth of Pasha's two children, her nephews, Sirius and Ailani.

Workshop Two - Day One Exercise
Kalon Name: Katya
Link to Kalon: character page // adopt page

Where do they live and what is the geography like?
Katya lives in Burya, one of my fictional countries. It is sort of a quasi-Russia. It's traditionally cold, mountainous, full of swatches of tundra and taiga, and populated thickly with roving packs of wolves. Burya is an older country situated in Europe, although of course in a fictional part of the country. It has one long coast; they are plagued by piracy here, and many of their people have since moved inland. The mountains are largely uninhabited. People tend to living in the valleys between the mountains, where the air is warmer and the weather less prone to blizzards. Snow is frequent. Winter seems to last an exceptionally long time, running for about six months of the year. Their springs are short and pleasant, their summers only mildly hot. There is a number of wild animals in their country and nature reserves, though hunting is a common pastime for the people.

What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?
Burya is a monarchy. Katya's adopted mother Arisha is the current queen, with her son Pasha being the heir apparent. Katya is second in line for the throne, with Pasha's child being third and fourth, respectively. The society is largely managed by the nobles although the queen is something of a figurehead. She does not have complete control; she is tempered by a council made up a number of people of various stations, including commoners. The throne passes by blood but can pass via marriage, as Arisha inherited it originally from her deceased husband, Pasha's father.

What kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.?
It's modern but there are medieval aspects. People have phones and cars and such; but the royal family still lives in a castle, and as many renovators know it is difficult to properly heat an entire castle. So they struggle with the usual issues of living in a castle, no matter the era; the plumbing going awry, the thermostat being supplemented by numerous personal fires, the kitchens vented through a stone chimney.

Do many or only a few people live here?
There's a good number of people in Burya on a whole, and the castle has a number of people living in it as well. There's the royal family, their numerous staff, and the revolving council-members. Important guests are also put up at the castle, or visiting diplomats. But Burya also has a number of cities, with some more properly considered villages, generally so the closer they come to the mountains. Burya has a population similar to modern-day Russia, as it is shaped after Russia.

Is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how?
It's pretty much the same. Obviously there's been a shift to make room for Buryan history; there was no revolution, a monarchy remained in power, tradition and superstition has been inherited through the years.

Is your Kalon(s) considered lower, middle, or upper class?
Katya is definitely upper class, given that they are second in line for the throne.

What sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here?
Russian! The word 'burya' actually is a Russian word meaning 'storm', a nod to the numerous storms found at the coastline and throughout the mountain ranges. English is a common second language but most everyone grows up speaking Russian.

Kalon Name: Sirius
Link to Kalon: character page // nursery batch page
Story Behind their Name:
Sirius' fathers are Pasha, Boden, and Aslan. The three of them have a relationship forged on the stars; Pasha met Boden at the observatory and then met Aslan there shortly after, as the former is an astronomer and the latter a helping hand. They traded gifts based on stars, little glowing lights, t-shirts with galaxies on them, cards depicting favored constellations, and they shared what they had learned of the night sky. When they had children Pasha insisted on naming the elder Sirius. It was his favorite star, the brightest in the entire sky, and he felt as though it represented their entire relationship, the culmination of it in kids, in two perfect babies.

I chose his name for a similar reason. I wanted it to be important to his fathers, as I knew Pasha would demand to name at least one of the children, and I've always loved the name Sirius. Also I knew I wanted him to be a completely cheerful and careless character, the opposite of being serious. He's a prince but he's rejected all responsibility tied to the title, and he'd rather eat pastries and sleep all day than do anything important. He favors puns as well, so his name being a pun ("Are you serious?" "Yep, always am!") was an extra hilarity.

Workshop Two - Day Three Exercise

Kalon Name: Baozhai
Link to Kalon: character site // original page

How many different places have they lived:
Baozhai was the only child of two very rich people, and she grew up hating her family. It wasn't really the money, or their parties, or their glittery, pleasant friends; it was that to her parents she too was a display of their wealth, a nod to what they could accomplish, for even as a child she was extraordinarily pretty and topped with a sheet of coal black hair. She embezzled money from them, bought a boat, and ran away on it the second it had finished construction; and since then she's lived all over. Mostly she lives on the ship, the Santa Maria, but as it is a ship and not exactly stationary she considers the whole sea her home. She rarely ventures on land but has lived in a half-dozen little places for a couple of months at a time, when she's needed to lie low and keep the ship hidden in some narrow cove somewhere.

Why did they settle down where they are currently:
Baozhai is currently on the Santa Maria, her personalized pirate ship. She settled there because living on the ship still allows her a freedom that living in a house wouldn't; and so although she is settled quite comfortably on the ship, she travels around the world quite often. She also has access to great treasures being on her ship (and being a rather infamous pirate), and being rich has always appealed to her.

Is there an ideal place they want to live, or are they already there:
Baozhai will always be content to live on the sea, no matter where in the world she might be. She is currently living on her ship, so she's in her ideal place.

What are the biggest moments that have defined their life:
The biggest would have to be the moment she escaped from her parents; the second biggest being the moment she met the love of her life, Katya; the third being when she found a child and made them hers. Baozhai gave up everything to be rid of her family, her reputation, her belongings, her quasi-friends. And she didn't find it a particularly difficult trade, but her parents continue to pursue her for their stolen funds so it wasn't a very even one. She secretly bought and built her own ship to sail away on, the Santa Maria, and loves her like the boat is an extension of her very soul. She also dyed her hair the minute she was away from her parents, giving up the black hair they prized and bleaching it blond. The second biggest moment was meeting Katya. Baozhai met them when she approached the coastal country of Burya for an alliance, a sort of ceasefire between the pirates and the soldiers; and she came on land for a proper meeting, and it was there that she introduced to Katya, second in line for the Buryan throne. Baozhai was not meant to pay the heir any mind but she fell in love with Katya the moment she entered the room, and she was bewitched by their careless laughter and easy smiles. Baozhai has not looked back since. Although their courtship was somewhat tumultuous, she would not give up Katya for anything. The third biggest moment of her life was meeting and 'stealing' Niao, a tiny baby that she found unattended in a coastal city. Baozhai, not one for any maternal instinct, was smitten with the strange, multi-armed babe, and snatched the basket and infant both. She brought Niao back to the ship, named her little bird for her soft, quiet wings, and over time considered the child her own. While Niao does not call her mother and Baozhai does not call her daughter, she is fiercely protective of the girl and intends to see the Santa Maria in Niao's hands before Baozhai dies.

Does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it:
Baozhai's future has a lovely, bright outlook on it. She's in a fine position in her life; she has an alliance with the Buryan coast, strengthened by Katya's loyalty to her, and her reputation precedes her so scavenging her never been easier. She has a girl she considers a daughter who just barely became a teen, and is in turns fascinated and amused by Niao's behavior. She never thought she would have a life like this when she left her parents, never imagined she might sit down somewhere and find herself startlingly happy, but she's desperate to hang on to it for as long as she can.

Workshop Two - Day Four Exercise

Kalon Name: Kendall
Link to Kalon: character site // original page
If they could write a letter to their past self, what would it say:
Dear Kendall,

Stay strong. Remember who you are. Don't let Cicely make you someone you're not.

Learn the weight of a gun in your hand, and learn the difference when its loaded. Learn it fast. Cicely won't take time to help you up or bandage your skinned knee; she's mean and she loves you and she wants you to survive. Don't hate her so much for it. I wasted a lot of years doing the same.

Forget about your parents. You're going to be taken from them when we're three; you won't remember them, won't remember even who you are. Kendall is what she calls us; Kendall is what we call ourselves. Take it from Cicely and inscribe it into your soul. You are who you make yourself and we have made ourselves strong. Don't waste time trying to find people we don't even know. Don't waste your dreams on them.

Keep your chin up and keep moving forward. You'll have some fights with Cicely; of course you will, she stole us from our parents, made us an assassin. But Cicely has good intentions, and she's a plain mean fighter, so avoid her when she's in a bad mood. Tell her you don't even remember your parents, that you don't care about them. Lie because it's safer, in the long run. Call her 'mom' because it upsets her, but not enough that she'll hurt you.

Do what you want to do. Find peace in the life Cicely has given you. Become an assassin and then hone your skills so mercilessly that you become the best; and then take missions when you want to, when the people are bad, when they need to be stopped. Don't let yourself become whoever Cicely wants you to be. Travel the world, learn new languages, meet new people. There is good somewhere still out there.

And remember that the clearest, Kendall, little Kendall, young boy without a name. There is good somewhere out there, and when you're still young you'll find it in a man named Graham. Remember this; this is important. Hold him close to you no matter how it hurts. Let yourself love, please. It took me far too long to make room in my old wounds for love.

Don't be afraid to cut yourself open and bleed. Bring Graham gifts from the places you have gone to kill people. Find good in it; find smiles in a person's empty home, in a merchant's bloody caravan. Graham will lighten the load your shoulders bear; let him. Don't tell him all of what you do, not at first, not all at once, but give the secret to him. Place your heart in your hands and split your fingers. Let him remind you of what you can be.

Remember, Kendall; a love like the love you will one day find does not complete you, but it betters you. You'll feel Graham's hand steadying your aim, hear his laugh when you are wet and miserable, think fondly of him when you're halfway across the world. Graham will make you a better man; let him, please.

Don't waste time thinking of what could have been, what might have been. Move forward. Call Cicely in the middle of the night and tell her you love her and miss her. Think this is what having a mom might have been like. Don't feel bad; take whatever happiness you can.

You'll accomplish great things, if only you'll let yourself. Remember this.

Kendall

Workshop Three - Day One Exercise

Has your kalon ever met their grandparents? If so, what do they think of them?
No. Apollo's grandparents are either uninterested in him or dead. His father's parents are both dead; his mother's, as she was originally a noble from another country, have no interest in contacting him. He has no feelings either way on this, as he's never had a normal grandparent figure and so doesn't know to expect anything different.

What is your kalon's relationship with their parents?
Apollo's mother has been dead for some five years now but he's close to his father, King Chauncey de Griffon. Chauncey dotes on Apollo; he's his favorite son by far, despite being the youngest one. Chauncey is a sickly man and stricken with illnesses quite often, and Apollo detests any idea of being weak, so they have a somewhat complicated relationship. Apollo doesn't like to see him when he's sick--Chauncey is sick a lot. When his mother was alive Apollo did not get along with her at all. His parents married for convenience and to keep up their bloodline, as both were from well-founded families, and they did not love each other or their children. His mother was fond of Apollo's elder brother Brahms and was somewhat mean to Apollo, leading him to dislike her up until her death.

Do they have any siblings? Are they blood related or adopted?
Apollo was one sibling, an older brother by a year and a half named Brahms. Brahms is in line for the throne; he's due to take over when their father inevitably dies from one of his sicknesses. Apollo and Brahms do not get along at all. Apollo has considered for many years murdering his brother in fact, so that he can take the throne (as he suspects his father did to his own brother, Apollo's uncle, many years ago) but he's not attached enough yet to the idea of being king to take it so far as to murder. Brahms is Apollo's brother by blood.

Does your kalon have children? Do they/did they ever want to have kits?
He has no children, although he has considered the possibility. Apollo would not be inherently against it, but he'd make a terrible father, and he's very aware of this; so he'd only ever agree to children if the other parent/s involved were good people. He's far too selfish to make room in his life for children, and he has some self-destructive tendencies that could not or should not be around young kids. Apollo would like to someday have an heir though, perhaps when he is much older.

Which family member is your kalon closest to? Why?
As virtue of Apollo hating his brother and having a very small family, he's closest to his father Chauncey. Again this is because Chauncey absolutely dotes on him; he gives him anything he wants, any items, any monetary sum. He lets Apollo disappear into the woods for days at a time and throw extravagant parties for no real reason. Apollo does love his father but he also considers him something of a fool, and he's purposefully been manipulating him since he was a child.

Is there a family member your kalon wishes they could know better? Who is it?
Apollo has always been interested in his uncle, his father's brother; but the man has been dead since Apollo was born, so he can't very well sit down to a conversation with him. However Apollo suspects that his father killed his own brother in order to succeed the throne, and he's somewhat obsessed with the theory. If he had the opportunity to somehow ask his uncle the truth of the matter, he would without hesitation.
