Table of Contents:

1. Introduction and Rules
2. The World of Rally
3. Making a Character
4. Character Sheets and Maps/Information

Introduction

This RP is a bit different from most you’ll find here – it’s a cross between a regular RP and a D&D game, where players have their characters within a world that is completely created by a presiding Game Master (GM). Players can move their characters around in this world, interact with it and each other, and uncover new items, places, plots and adventures as they go along, all of which are created by the GM (in this case, me). You don’t need to be familiar with D&D to play, but it might help to know the basics. :3

The players cannot make up their own objects, places or people within the game outside of their own specific characters, but the characters can investigate and interact with their environment to find things, talk to non-player characters (NPCs, which are all created and controlled by the GM), discover new places, etc. Characters can also try to make new objects from things they already have, like sewing a handkerchief into a purse – their attempts may or may not be successful. Characters can learn skills as they go along to help them succeed at various things.

If your character walks into a shop, as an example, you cannot give any description of that shop interior until I’ve posted what your character sees there. The most you can say at that point is, ‘<Character> walks into the shop’, at which point I would post with a description of the inside of the shop, who’s in it, various things your character sees, etc. There may even be Badly Drawn Pictures. Your character can then interact with what has been described and take closer looks at things. All actions your character takes should be viewed as attempts to do something, not a guarantee that the character will succeed in whatever he’s trying to do, as sometimes things might not turn out quite how the character or the player expected. ;3

There is no pre-set course your characters must follow, but there are many potential quests or adventures you might come across by talking to people, investigating new places, etc. Only the GM can introduce new outside plot elements, although players can bring in their own interpersonal plot elements, so while players can not create a mysterious bolt of lightning or a dragon invasion as their own plot lines, they can come up with plots involving their character interacting with other characters (e.g. romances, personal vendettas, competition, etc.).

If your character gets in a fight, the ‘all actions are attempts to act’ rule becomes very important - your character might try to hit her opponent, but the opponent might block the attack, dodge, or even make a counterattack. For both player characters and NPCs or creatures you might come across, there is always a chance for the opponent to avoid being grabbed, hit or killed (apart from a few situations, like if they’re unconscious or significantly outclassed). Even if the player states an action as definite (e.g. ‘Bob grabs the thief and stabs him’), it will be treated as an attempt (e.g. the thief might twist away and escape). If a player is attacking an NPC, I decide if the NPC gets hit and how the NPC responds, but if they’re attacking another player’s character, the players can RP the fight out completely between them.

An important thing to note is that not all fights are necessarily winnable – some enemies may be too powerful to be injured at all and be capable of killing your character easily. I won’t have any NPC kill your character outright, but if your character persists in trying to fight an opponent who is vastly stronger, your character could get badly injured (this is one of the few situations where an NPC can make an automatic hit on a character, so the player can’t just continually dodge attacks when significantly outclassed). Finally, remember to keep any fighting PG-13 at most. ;3 No guts, gore or excessive brutality/gross stuff.

Rules

1. All players must use good spelling and grammar, and try to write at least a paragraph with every post.
2. If you want to join, you must be willing and able to be active in the RP – I ask that you post at least once a day if possible. If a person goes many days without showing up, their slot may be given to a new person if someone else wants to join.
3. Only the GM (me) can introduce new objects, places or people into the game (apart from the players’ characters) or introduce outside plot elements.
4. You cannot control any character other than your own in any way, including automatically grabbing/injuring them. In short, no power-playing or god-modding.
5. No gory or brutal battle descriptions; again, PG-13.
6. If talking OOC, use ((double brackets)). OOC should only be used for RP-related discussion.
7. Please write in present tense, not past tense (e.g. ‘he says’, not ‘he said’). If you really don’t like present tense, then past tense is okay, but present tense is the standard form for this style of RP.
8. For now, this RP is limited to six players, not including me, and each player may have only one character.
9. All other RP board rules apply

Now, if you’ve gone through all the above and are still interested in the game, continue on to find out about the world you would be playing in. :3

There are currently 6 slots available; each person can only have one character.

1. Battleberry - The Dungeon Mistress
2. Fillana (Fill-Ay-Nah) 'Layna' Milick, female kirda - Toppyrocks
3. reserved - Niney
4. 'Slink' Solomon Launcelot Kellsinger Y. Hatchett, male human - Solfeggio
5. Alexandra 'Alex' Max Roseblade, male torriyn - Gleeky~Cheeze
6. Raku Razorwing, male human - Redsparrow

The World of Rally

Welcome to the world of Rally, a mystical world where magic is everywhere, dragons roam free, and adventure is around every corner! At least, that’s what you’ve heard some people say. To you, however, who have never had the opportunity to leave your home village out in the sticks, it seems like Dull Central. A life spent slaving away on the farm just isn’t what you’ve always dreamed of, and there are so many things you could see, so much you could do, if you just managed to get out of Bringo, the tiny little backwater farming community you live in. But life in the big world isn’t easy for inexperienced farm kids out on their own for the first time, and you know almost nothing about the world outside your own town. Too bad there aren’t any handy maps around – you’ll have to find out where things are as you go along. At least you do know a few things:

You live on the world of Rally, a semi-feudalistic medieval land divided into many city-states. There is no central government presiding over all of the states, but each city-state is run by a city-lord, and the city-state is always named for its capital city. You live in the city-state of Kite, a pleasant temperate region known for its wide range of environments, which has the capital city of Kite Main. Kite has four neighbouring city-states: mountainous Treecliff to the west, grassy Riverrun to the south, sandy Oasis to the east, and forested Talaugth to the north. Your home town, Bringo, is fairly central in Kite and has three roads leaving it: the north road leads to the mighty Kite Main, the west road goes to the tiny town of Lasca, and the south road goes to the farming town Sayden. Most of Bringo is surrounded by lush grassy rangeland and farms, though not far to the east there is wild jungle bordered by treacherous marshlands.

There are two types of magic known in Rally – clerical and elemental. Clerical magic is also called life-force magic; it is present in all living things and can be used to heal or harm, and a user of clerical magic is called a cleric. Elemental magic is derived from natural forces such as lightning, wind, water, etc., and users of elemental magic are called mages. Some people have innate connections to one magic type that makes it far easier for them to use it – humans sometimes have an affinity for elemental magic, elves often have an affinity for clerical magic, and kirda and torriyn can have an affinity for either.

Magic is not done with spells – instead, magic users directly manipulate magical forces. For example, a cleric might draw energy directly from a plant to heal an injured person, or a mage might draw water up from a nearby stream to rain down on an escaping campfire. This means that the resources must be available to be used – there is little life energy available in a barren dungeon, and little water in a dry desert. Using magic is also physically taxing, and magic users will become physically exhausted if they are using a lot of magic for something. As a person gains magical experience, its use becomes easier and more efficient; inexperienced magic users can do very little with their powers until they’ve trained more. Because of the direct-use nature of magic in Rally, there are no magical or enchanted items.

Species-wise, Rally has many intelligent humanoid and elfoid species, the most common of which are:

Humans – a very common humanoid species, especially in northern and central Rally. They are adept at a wide range of jobs and skills, and are the largest and strongest of the common intelligent species. Average lifespan: 70 years. Average male height is 5’8”, females 5’5”.

Elves – a very common elfoid species, especially in southern and western Rally. They are famed for their swiftness and agility, and while they are sometimes thought of as aloof tree-dwellers, most of them are very gregarious and down-to-earth. Average lifespan: 500 years. Average height is 5’3”.

Torriyn – a common species in central Rally. They originate from human-elf hybrids, and may be anywhere from a first-generation cross to one of the old torriyn families going back centuries. They have slight points to the ears like the elf ancestors, but have stronger builds, more height and a shorter lifespan from the human side. Average lifespan: 250-300 years. Average height is 5’6”.

Kirda – a common small elfoid species in central Rally. They have typical elvish features, with pointed ears and slender builds, but they prefer life on the ground and are generally farmers, although they are adept at many jobs. Average height is 3’9”; average lifespan is 120 years.

Making a Character

Still here and want to join up? Then let’s get on to the interesting bit – creating your character.

Your character’s name can be whatever you want, but the character must have both a first and last name (e.g. John Smith, not just John or Smith) at least. Species has some effect on your character’s abilities, and if you’re interested in having your character learn magic at some point, you should keep innate magic affinities in mind. For age, keep in mind that a human is considered a young adult at 16 years, an elf is a young adult at 30, a torriyn is at 20, and a kirda is at 17.

For description, it must be entirely WRITTEN, no pictures. Be detailed and specific, and remember the setting – only natural hair/skin/eye colours are allowed, and your character will start out wearing plain brown peasant clothing (you can get better clothes as you go along). Try to round the character out – what things does your character like or fear? These things could influence what situations your character might run into in the game.

For history, initially all of the characters should be low- to middle-class types from Bringo, since that’s where you’re starting out, although they don’t have to have been born there. Give some background on what kind of life your character has led so far, what things they've done, if they have great ambitions for anything, what they’re interested in learning about, etc. If you need the name of a town or city-state for your history, just ask me and I’ll suggest some places that might fit what you’re looking for. :3 The same goes for cultures, wars, animal species/breeds, etc.

*Important*
Skills: These are the things your character is good at, and they are very specific and important. At the start, a character has three skill points that can be used to have three Level 1 skills, a Level 1 and a Level 2 skill, or a single Level 3 skill. Skills can be things like horsemanship, archery, baking, sewing, etc. Think about what things your character might have encountered in his/her life (this is where your history is important) and what skills may have been gained. All characters start out knowing how to read, write and do basic math (unless you specify otherwise for your character), so don’t worry about those ones. Your characters can gain new skills and improve their old ones as they go along – the higher their level in a skill, the greater their chance of success when they attempt something that requires that skill.

Once you’ve read over the above, fill out the following form:

Code: Select all
<Your username here>’s Character
Full name: (must have at least first and last, can have a nickname as well, if wanted)
Species: (must be human, elf, torriyn or kirda)
Age:
Description: (must be WRITTEN – no images)
Personality:
History:
Skills: (*important* see write-up above for information)

All parts of the form must be fully completed and correct to be accepted.

Character Sheets

This is where the forms of characters that have been created will be kept and updated as needed. Your character’s inventory will be kept here so you can keep track of everything your character owns or is carrying, and things like what your character is wearing will be updated here. Note that one gold piece is equal to ten silver pieces, and a silver piece is equal to ten copper pieces, so one gold piece is worth 100 copper pieces.

All characters start off with:
1 cloth purse
5 silver pieces (in purse)
30 copper pieces (in purse)
1 set of peasant clothing (worn) – always plain, simple and only in shades of brown
1 backpack
1 pair of old boots (worn)

Toppyrock’s Character
Full name: Fillana (Fill-Ay-Nah) Milick Nickname- Layna
Species: Kirda
Age: 25
Description: About 5'1", Fillana is a slight thing, though still fit. Her skin is tanned from hours spent outdoors everyday with horses. She has straw-coloured hair that just barely brushes her shoulders. Most of her looks are average, with dark greeny-brown eyes and the typical pointed years.
Personality: Fillana is always looking for adventure and a fun way to do things. She finds it hard to settle down in one place, but she can if she has to. Growing up with not many people to take care of her Fillana is independant and capable of taking care of herself, but doesn't accept help unless she absolutely needs it. This can lead to her doing more work then she needs to or having a harder time doing a task. Promises from her are rare because she realized when she was younger that she often didn't follow through, and so tried to never have to commit to anything. Another trait that comes with her independance is her unwillingness to follow orders. When told to do something, Fillana will only do as asked if she thinks it's something worth doing or will benefit her in someway. Or course, there are exceptions to everything when it comes to horses. Fillana is simply head over heels for horses. She does everything she can to be near them, and is working very hard to get her own horse.
History: Fillana was born on a small fief a ways out of Bringo. She had several older siblings, both parents and an uncle. From early on in her life no one paid much attention to her save her uncle, Kande. When her family was out working the fields, Fillana would often try to slip away to go find adventure. The older she got, the braver she became. Often her adventures would get her in trouble if she was caught, either because she was skipping work or doing something she shouldn't. Kande was the oldest member of the family and no longer needed to work the fields. Instead, he spent time in an old wooden chair outside their small hut giving Fillana pieces of advice(which she rarely followed, even though they were good), thinking up clever sayings, puzzles and jokes, and just being all around wise.

When Fillana was about 13, she took her biggest adventure yet. She snuck out of the fief on the back of a donkey cart and ended up in a very nearby village. That was were she first saw the horses. They were magnificent, with their flowing manes and tails, rippling muscles and beautiful tack. Sure, she had seen horses before, but on her fief there was only donkeys, mules and a few worn-out old horses used for plowing. Compared to these horses, they were nothing. After watching the horses for some time, se finally pulled herself away and went back home. As usual, no one had noticed her absence. Even if they did, Fillana was sure they wouldn't care. Except her uncle. He was waiting in his chair the whole time, and when she came back he gave her a lecture. He rambled on about responsibility, and consequences of what could've happened. She shrugged it off and continued with her ways.

A few months later Kande passed away and Fillana felt completely alone in the world. She had a big family and a home, but she felt as if no one cared for her. She relized then what his lecture had meant, and also that she could do more with her life. She left the farm and the fief when she was 16, and eventually found herself in another bigger town about a year later. The horses she had seen had forever captured her heart, and she immediately began trying to find work with horses. She learned to ride and care for them, and was very passionate. However, after almost 8 years there she has become uneasy again, and wishes to find another place to live. She left that town for Bringo, and is now trying to find work with horses.
Skills: Level 2 horsemanship, Level 1 stealthiness (hiding, moving quietly)

Equipment worn/used:
1 set of peasant clothing (worn)
1 pair of old boots (worn)

Inventory:
1 cloth purse, 5 silver pieces (in purse), 30 copper pieces (in purse), 1 backpack

Solfeggio’s Character
Full name: Solomon Launcelot Kellsinger Y. Hatchett (Because of his long and unnecessarily flamboyant name, he -- quite understandably -- prefers to be called Slink)
Species: Human
Age: 20 years old
Description: Slink has the general characteristics of one brought up in a well-to-do family, roughened by the short time he has spent with those from the real world. His skin is a beautiful fair tone, but what would have been 'perfectly handsome' features now bear several scars and rough patches from his journeys. His striking green eyes are a bright emerald, trademark of the Hatchett Clan, although that could do little good of identifying him as something of royal blood, given his now ragged sandy-brown hair, the long strands that refuse to tie back in his ponytail dancing around his chiseled face. His build is considerably lean, maybe lighter than what could be considered healthy; his hands, once perfect and clean and without blemish are rough, calloused, and dirty. He is not one to care for clothing -- surprising, considering what bloodline he came from -- he wears anything comfortable, and if possible, a cape to keep him warm. But then again two years on the road has taught him that beggars can't be choosers.

Personality: Slink is your typical teenager boy fresh into his first year of being a man -- unfortunately, his maturity could do with some catching up. He is a highly cheerful, maybe over-eager character, always jumping first into any new challenge or opportunity without thinking about it first. He is impulsive, is (too) quick to trust, and at his worst, naive (to the point of looking like a complete airhead) -- although this could be owed to his upbringing that has heavily influenced his view on the world. He believes in seeing the good in all people -- or maybe it's all he knows, because it's all he's ever grown up around. He works had and is happy when he can accomplish, and shrugs it off when he doesn't. He has a bit of a one-track mind as well -- he can stick at a job for hours (maybe days or weeks or years, if you let him), and he doesn't do quite a bad job of it either, it's just if he concentrates on something for so long he ends up being utterly absorbed in it unless something else distracts him. He usually works best on a strict schedule -- abrupt changes in plans can throw him off completely and upset him, and he is not the best at coming up with solutions (he could also take days, weeks, or years thinking of a solution). However once he has worked out something he believes is best, he can be flippant about past mistakes, causing him more often than not to commit them again. Slink is already a man at twenty years -- but, in many ways, he is still a boy.

History: For several years, in a remote village, the Hatchett Clan has been held in prestige, the 'upper' of the upper class of their society. Slink never touched poverty as a boy -- he was born into privilege. Because he was the only son of his parents, they treated him very much like a prince, spoiling him with the riches and comforts that a worldly life could possibly offer.

And yet, somehow, it was not enough for him.

Slink grew close to one of his helpers, who was only a teenager, a few years older than him at that time. On one marketing trip, the helper sneaked the young Slink out of his house and took him for, what he felt, was the most amazing day of his life. He got to smell raw meat, not the finely cooked dishes he would have laid out for him at the table; he touched piles of unwashed fruit, not the shiny ones that sat in their fruit bowls at home and looked like porcelain figures. He met and spoke to what he heard his parents call the 'peasants', the 'lower class', and for some reason found their world interesting, fun, freer at least from the restricted life he led.

When his parents found out about his visit to 'the outside world', they fired Slink's helper and set to homeschooling him, but he grew to love schooling outside of the home. Sure, he paid attention in lessons and did fairly well in writing and math, but the world now held much more interest for him. So much more interest, in fact, that one free morning, he decided to have a day in the woods a fair distance from his home. Bring a knife to peel the fruits he carried in his satchel, he lashed out unintentionally after a few short moments of the bushes shuddering near him, making him afraid he was being stalked by a wolf -- he found out only afterwards that he was being stalked by a poor defenseless (and now, forever still) bunny. After that little moment, however, he would spend more and more time wandering out to the woods, honing his new interest in hunting -- sometimes even making his own awkward weapons to use (if at least just sharpened stones, but the dagger always remained), without his parents' knowledge.

One time he went out and, in his wanderings in the woods, came across a stranger. Delighted to meet another 'peasant', he struck up conversation with the stranger and eventually revealed he was longing for a world of adventure. The stranger took advantage of Slink's naivety and took him out of the forest, only to chain him and keep him among the slaves he was planning to sell off. Slink didn't quite understand what he was doing there, but he was way too excited at the prospect of leaving his home, and too amazed at the distances they traveled. He didn't even mind that, at several stops, no one would bother to buy a scrawny, inexperienced-looking slave like him.

He was roughly eighteen years old when the slave trader stopped at a small area just beyond the outskirts of Kite, where he was sold off as a farmhand to a fairly young couple. This couple was more than happy to have someone to boss around, and more often than not that was just how they treated him. Slink could have been easily distressed with his situation, and in fact he had episodes of despair and of being unagreeable the first days he was there -- however he found that as long as he stuck to the tasks being given to him, the couple would spare him the whip and even allow him a bite to eat or a sip of water. For two years he toiled under their iron grip, being as submissive and obedient as possible, doing anything and everything they asked him to with the best of his ability -- and even if he sometimes wouldn't measure to what they wanted, he made sure his next attempts would be better. Still, he realized it was almost like a learning experience for him -- although it wasn't quite the experience he'd hoped to have.

On his twentieth birthday, he decided to give himself his own gift. Taking the plunge into manhood, he threw on what clothes he had, gathered what little things he still owned, and ran. Ran in any direction, it didn't matter where -- he was running to a new adventure.

Skills: Level 2 Hunting, Level 1 Blacksmithing

Equipment worn/used:
1 set of peasant clothing (worn)
1 pair of old boots (worn)

Inventory:
1 cloth purse, 5 silver pieces (in purse), 30 copper pieces (in purse), 1 backpack

Gleeky~Cheeze’s Character
Full name: Alexandra Max Roseblade - Alex
Species: Torriyn
Age: 24 Years
Description:
Alex is around 5'6", so he is slightly taller than the average Torriyn. He has well built musceles and is quiet tan, almost a sandy colored skin tone. Alex has short, spiky hair which is a dark coal black.
His ears have slight tips at the end and it is hard to tell that he is Torriyn, most species mistake him for human. Alex has dark purple eyes, they are virtually black though so it is almost impossible to tell that they are purple.
Personality:
Alex's personality is quiet hard to point out, but it could easily be described as mysterious as he is rarely seen around the place. He is hardly in the house and is mainly seen when he is working.
Alex is kind, and that kindness shines through a lot, never ceasing to leave him. But he can be bossy, which is usually annoying because that's how his personality shows as a lot, bossy.
He hates to hold grudges on others and rarely does, but when he does he usually goes into a bit of a rage, he will through things around and say things he doesn't mean. But if it isn't that bad he will just walk away and not talk to anyone but his friends and family, who he doesn't really know.
Luckily Alex is witty, always the first one to figure things out, usually. Intelligence is one of his strong points, and it is a very good thing when it comes to hunting and fighting.
Alex is a major flirt sometimes, always hitting on girls, generally at night time though, no one really knows why.
But to pinpoint his personality it would be seen as, mysterious, king, slightly bossy, intelligent, a flirt/very social and sometimes, very angry.
History:
Alex was born to a young 30 Year Old Torriyn whose name was Eliza, she and Alex had a great mother son bond and would crawl to the ends of the earth for eachother. It was the average life for a single mother and son. Only recently starting at the age of 7 Years he loved school but never wanted to leave his mother. Alex started having dreams of someone screaming, all he saw was red and all he heard was screaming. He thought he heard his mothers voice in it and slept with her until he went to school again. On his way home he heard screaming from his house and started running to his house, only to be too late and find his mother dead.
Alex was never the same after that, he was taken in by a young lady called Lizzy who Alex disliked a lot and threw many fits until Lizzy had enough and gave him to a elderly woman called Tethica. Luckily for Tethica, Alex like her and they grew a close bond, but it was still nothing like the bond he and his mother had.
Ever since his mothers death Alex has never been the same. He used to be a very happy go lucky child but now he is just a young, mysterious, kind young Adult.

Skills: Level 2 Hunting - Level 1 Fighting

Equipment worn/used:
1 set of peasant clothing (worn)
1 pair of old boots (worn)

Inventory:
1 cloth purse, 5 silver pieces (in purse), 30 copper pieces (in purse), 1 backpack

RedSparrows's Character
Full name: Raku Razorwing
Species: Human Male
Age: 17
Description: Standing at 5 feet 10 inches he seems to loom over much of the town. His bright red hair doesn't help him blend in either. Freckles are scattered across his face and arms with dark brown eyes making him look like the typical ginger. Its a scruffy mop cut of hair that is worn long so he can pull it back when needed. However his hair is usually worn down and just barely touches his shoulders.
Personality: He is cold, quite and calculating. It takes a lot of trust before he opens up to anyone, and even then he will not share many of his emotions. Mostly quite at first, he will speak up more and more as he gets the feel of the environment and people around him. He is happiest alone in a pasture or forest. He loves animals and nature. He hates many other two legged upright walking creatures capable of talking and causing him grief. He fears attachment to people or places more then death itself.
History: Raku is an orphan, his parents where killed when there town was pillaged. He was 6 years old when it happened. Ever since then he has lived with his cold, abusive alcoholic uncle who only wants him around as a farm hand, he could care less if Raku lives or dies. He has an older brother somewhere in the world, he plans to leave the farm to go looking for what is left of his family in the hopes of finding a place where he belongs and is wanted. Due to his uncles distaste for him Raku has learned to steel for a living. His entire life is based around what he can grab from others.

Skills: Level 1 Lock picking, Level 1 Pick-pocketing, Level 1 Stealth

Equipment worn/used:
1 set of peasant clothing (worn)

The Dungeon Mistress’s Character
Full name: Sitaen Lizbeth Battleberry, generally known by last name only.
Species: Torriyn
Age: 25
Description: Battleberry has reddish-brown hair that is normally windswept and tangled. Her eyes are a murky hazel and she has a lot of freckles across her face. She is reasonably tall, about 5'9", with a lot of muscle from training to be a blacksmith. Her skin is tanned from the fire and has a lot of burns and scars, and is quite rough.
Personality: Battleberry is a strong individual with an equally strong personality to match and is not the easiest to get along with. She is blunt and honest, and dislikes idle chit-chat and lying. She has been brought up in a predominantly male enviroment so hasn't got many airs or graces, nor manners. She works hard, and has no respect for lazy or careless people. Battleberry can be easily trusted and likes to trust others, but she is not dependent on them by any means and would rather work for an answer than be given it by them. Battleberry has boldness and drive and will stop at nothing to achieve her targets, whatever she sets them to be. She does not display her emotions freely or openly as she thinks emotions show others weakness, and finds it difficult to identify with the feelings of others around her. Once Battleberry has made a decision, be it to trust someone, respect them or to want vengence on them, she rarely changes it. Battleberry has a firey temper and lots of pent-up agression, though she rarely shows it unless fighting. She is brave and fierce, and once she is loyal to a cause or a person she is loyal forever and would willingly die for that person. Battleberry worships the deity Korn, but has respect for Ioun, Moradin and the Raven Queen.
History: Battleberry was raised by her Father and brothers due to her elven Mother dying in childbirth. Her Father did try to re-marry but did not like the company of the single women in the village. Sitaen was very close to her Father and her older brothest (Jais), though her two other eldest brothers (Conna & David) thought her in some twisted way responsible for her Mother's death.
The three of them went to the Village School and gained a simple education. Jais decided to continue in schooling and eventually became a scribe in another town. Conna and David left school early and went into the family Smithing buisness. Playing about in the workshop was Sitaen's family's main entertainment, learning how to forge horse shoes and mold metal figures the main skill they all learnt. Sitaen was determined to go into blacksmithing too, the forge and hammer her best friends, not just tools. Her brothers had sneered at her for her choice, but her father knew that while Jais was destined for another path, this familiar one was for the rest of his children.
Sitaen changed working in the forges. She knew it was a man's job, and her attitude changed while she was trying to fit in. She was very skilled at smithing, especially magic swords and axes. She eventually changed her name to Battleberry and set up a stall for herself in the local merchant's market. Adventuring parties came and bought the weapons she made, and demanded more. She learnt how to make bows and arrows, forge knives and how to weave magic into them. She was on her way to the top-end of the buisness, but she didn't want to be stationary.
Instead Battleberry, due to popular demand and to escape her brother's teasing, decided that joining an adventurer's party and setting up an on-the-move weapon making buisness was the way to go.

Re: Rally - A D&D-based RP (Semi-Lit)

((Fillana's been added in to the character sheet page now. ^^ For the currency value, in modern terms a copper piece would be worth very roughly one dollar, but it's not an exact conversion (or even a particularly close one). A bottle of water would be 1 copper, a pocketbook would be 1-2 coppers depending on how big it was, and good-quality shoes would be about 2 silver pieces, or 20 coppers. Your character starts out with the equivalent of about two months worth of wages, so they shouldn't have any trouble affording basic things, but for larger purchases or higher-quality items, they'll need to save up a bit more. ;3 ))

((Starting off so Toppyrocks can put Fillana into action. ^^))

Fillana stands to one side of the open patch of cobblestones and dirt that passes as Bringo’s town square, a light breeze from the south carrying the unfortunate smell of sheep and cattle to her. The old flour mill to her right is quiet, the usual grinding sound of its machinery paused for the time being, most likely because its owner Jarvil is in his shop just across the street from the mill – a roughly-carved wooden sign pegged to the mill's door reads ‘Closd – i em Bisee’. The tannery next door to the shop is open for business though, and Prescott the tailor can be heard humming a jaunty tune inside. Ahead, the schoolhouse doors are open to let in the morning sunlight, and the schoolmistress’s teenaged daughter Ketta is sitting on the front steps idly turning a daisy over in her hands with a slight smile, doubtless daydreaming like usual. In the square, a few young boys are playing swords with some thin sticks while another boy sits mournfully by the well, not joining in the game. On the far side of the square, the corral can be seen, the horses within it stirring up a small dust cloud that almost obscures their owner, Auden the horse trader, who is leaning by the corral gate.

((For reference, I've placed Fillana on the road just a little to the west of the 'town square', right between the mill and the store. From this point on, where she goes is up to you. :3))

Fillana looks around herself at this new town. Before even arriving she had planned on living here, and she already likes it. Staying here depends on a few things, though. First, she needs a place to stay, as well as a way of making some money or earnings of some sort. One of the few other things one top of her priority list is being able to be with horses. She can see some in a corral across the town square, but from here the glare of the sun and dust makes it difficult to make out anything more than the outlines. After a few minutes of thinking, Fillana decides that her best plan will be to get a bit fimiliar to Bringo and then try to see if she can get work, preferably with those horses. Fillana glances at the mill door. The sign is readable-barely- and from that she decides to go into the tannery. Fillana walks up to the tannery door and enters.

(( I hope that's good, this is different for me, but already fun. I'm pretty sure I slipped up with past tense a few times, I usually write past tense, but I'm hoping that will improve. It means I just have to think about my writing a bit more. ))

((Yep, that all looks fine. ^^))

The tannery is small but cozy inside, with the smell of leather permeating everything and all manner of tack and leather goods hanging along the wall to the left of the door. A couple of well-crafted saddles rest on hurdles next to the wall, with more tack draped over them. Along the wall to the right and the far wall, clothes made of cotton or wool are stacked on shelves, with miscellaneous clothing items hanging off the ends of the shelves and leather boots arranged neatly underneath the shelves. Indeed, almost every square inch of the store that isn’t necessary for walking in has some form of cloth or leather goods displayed in it. At the far end of the shop, which isn’t very far at all, Prescott is leaning back in a wooden chair, his feet propped up on the small table that functions as his sales counter, and stitching a sleeve on to a half-made cotton shirt while he hums cheerfully to himself. He’s not the sort you would expect to see being a tailor, with his notable height and broad frame, and the faint scar across his left eye suggests that he wasn’t always in so peaceful an occupation, but he looks friendly, and he glances up with a twinkle in his eye when he notices Fillana entering the shop.

“Ah! Good morning to you,” he greets, setting his stitching aside and removing his boots from the table. "You're new - just travelling through town, are you?" Prescott stands and sweeps off his cap to work the needle through the brim for safe-keeping, revealing short dark hair with a touch of grey to match his tidily-trimmed salt-and-pepper beard. "Anything I can get for you, miss? I've got plenty of goods for sale, and at some excellent prices, if I do say so myself."
