“Submitting the poem had been an out of body experience.

The anxiety I’d had vanished when I entered the door. The shop smelled of chocolate a tad more than it usually did. Most tables were already filled; They usually were at that time of day. Tables of two, couples exchanging endearing looks and flirtatious words.

I sat down at a booth against a wall. In my pocket, I clutched the letter. Half crumpled, without an envelope. I wish I’d bothered to make it look nicer.

When a waitress came over to take my order, I shrugged her away with the excuse that I was still considering my options. She left, went to help another table. I stared at the girl behind the counter. She hadn’t taken notice of me quite yet. She turned, bounced into the back room.

I stood, and I walked to the counter, and my fidgeting paws placed a folded paper against the counter. And just like that, I left before she ever returned.

It took me a week to show up again. I arrived on a day I knew she’d be working, because of course, I’d taken notice of her schedule. I did fancy her, after all. I took a seat, one next to a window this time. The waitress who walked to me was the girl who had, hopefully, received my letter. She smiled. My heart fluttered. I thought for a second, just a second, that maybe there was something there.

But then she only took my order as she always did, I purely platonic friendliness to her. Perhaps she hadn’t gotten the poem, or else she didn’t know who sent it.

Or maybe she just didn’t return my feelings.

I guess it might be a bit odd that I’m writing about this so many years later. I never did return to the shop after that day. I wonder sometimes whatever happened to that girl.

I hope she’s found someone by now.”

“What is that?”

Gripping in her paws was an old poem she’d received years ago. The girl, now a young woman, gave a gentle grin to her friend. “Oh, it’s an old love letter.”

“Oh~? Who’s it from?”

“Well... It’s signed ‘freckles,’ and I found it while working a shift at my old job- the coffee-pastry shop. I guess it was technically a cafe. It was left on the counter, but I didn’t see who left it, and my co-workers didn’t know anything either.

I’ve always kind of thought it was this one guy. He was newer in town, didn’t know a lot of people. He liked to come to the shop and just chat sometimes. I kind of liked him, actually. Maybe I just wanted to believe it was him who left the letter, then. I don’t know.

He usually showed up a couple times a week, but after I’d gotten that note, I didn’t see him for a week. He finally stopped by, but only briefly. I wanted to say something to him, but I chickened out. He ate his slice of orange meringue pie- his favorite, it seemed- and then he left, and I haven’t seen him since.”

“Oh, wow, sounds like you guys really missed a chance at love there. Maybe you’ll find him again someday.”

The woman subtly laughed, holding the letter to her chest. “Maybe.”

A smile crept onto soda's face. It was a hand-made necklace he was looking at before. Hunter could see tears build up in Soda's eyes. Happy tears. Soda suddenly hugs Hunter to his surprise. After the initial shock, Hunter returns the hug and they seem to hug for a solid minute before separating. "Happy Valentine's Day." said Hunter.

After Kachel would propose for Catalyst to go out on a date with him, it would absolutely happen because the two of them are mates. The results honestly depend on Catalyst's mood and if they can find a babysitter for their kits in time. He'd most likely take Catalyst out on a date either somewhere fancy like a restaurant or casual such as a movie and dinner at their house. The movie and dinner date would include the meal that they ate when they first met; spaghetti. Spaghetti would probably be eaten at the restaurant date as well, though.

Yu & Hinoka's Joanna

Shy eyes gaze at the pretty girl in front of him, bangs hiding his hesitant concern. There's the slight bite of his bottom lip, as he fidgets ever so slightly. Yu's never been this nervous before- what if she doesn't accept his apology for his mistakes? And Yu admits he's made a mistake by letting her go, during a time when his mind was clouded and muddled. He know's his mistakes, and he only hopes for forgiveness, even as he shifts his feet against the ground.

"So? What do you say?" a timid voice murmurs. Never has anything ever seemed so awkward before- never in front of Jo anyways, not until now. And all Yu wants to do is curl up and hide, as he groans inwardly. This has got to have been a bad idea.

"I... wouldn't mind that" His head whips up from gazing at the ground, eyes wider than they have ever been before in his life.

"Really?" There's that peak of a small mischievous smile again. And without thinking, Yu's already striding over in long paces to hug the girl before him. He wrapped his arms around her tightly and doesnt find himself wanting to let go, ever.

palmer laid across dove's kitchen table, holding a letter in his hand. "i found this letter for you." he winked as she darted towards him to grab the paper. she tore at the envelope, and began to read.
she glared at him. "c'mon. you know i'm not into you, man... and how did you even get in here?" she sighed angrily, and sat down at the table. "we've been friends for years, but you already know that i'm not ever going to feel the same way that you do. or, you're joking. you tend to do that, so..."
palmer winked. "aw, dove. you know you want a piece of this wonderful product here. i'm intelligent, hot, and i also have a great personality." dove shook her head. "plus, you always leave the back door on the porch unlocked."
"well, just... you know i don't like you. i mean, i consider you a friend, even if you are truly obnoxious."
palmer slid down from the table, going to sit down across from her. "but whaddya say, dove? wanna be me valentine?" he leaned in with a smirk, like he found the whole ordeal to be funny.
dove smiled. "no."

Day Two Art Prompt

((I'm just using Pip for the second half as the object of her affections. Don't mind my contrived personality and traits about them, lol - they're just here as a placeholder really))

Eden stared down at the dull, classic pink card in her paws - and the messy dark graphite staining the surface.

"Yeah.." she whispered, quiet, to the empty sound of her room. Her entire house was empty, except for her uncle and his wife - who were both out at the moment. Eden was a teenager going through high school. Her parents had died when she was in elementary to a car accident. "I"m not very good at this."

Eden lowered her head into her russet paws, pushing away the card. Brooding, she stared at her textbooks for a moment. Normally, she'd stay away from other people, keep to herself. She wasn't always that way, but this was the way it was now. But she didn't hate people.

She definitely didn't hate the subject of her poem, either. Happy. Eden wished for more of that - and naturally, what she shied away from, the healthy glow of smiles of other kalons and people, was what she wanted. She... wished..that she could reach out to them - or at least, that one kalon. But Eden couldn't, not really. She was too afraid, too self-depricating. But she'd seen this other kalon - and they weren't the happiest either. Eden could see it in their empty smiles and blank stares given to walls, the moments when they took off their mask.

If Eden couldn't make herself feel better, she at least wanted - maybe with a compliment, maybe with a letter, to make them feel better this Valentine's Day.

Eden got up, out of her slouch, and with a wave of two tails bounded over to the window and hooked her claws in before opening. A cool, February breeze met her fur, calming the green-eyed kalon.

She thought about the poem, for a moment. She wanted to add something to it, a letter attached - to tell them to be happy, and if not to spend their Valentines with them, to find someone that'd make them happy.

...Eden has always been a bit too selfless.

Pip found a letter in their locker. They didn't think they'd get anything for Valentine's this day.
They read it, and a slow smile curled across their face. Ah. She shouldn't be so hard on herself.

Pip pulled out pencil and paper, and wrote,
"Of course I'll go out with you for Valentines day. Thank you for this, and thank you for you."
