I HAVE A QUESTION!
TYPE OF QUESTION: Math
YOUR QUESTION: I was absent from school the day my math teacher taught mean, median, mode, and range (and mean absolute deviation). I have a test tomorrow, and I need someone to explain these to me and how to solve for them (I already know median and range). Thanks in advance if anyone helps.

I PM'd this first, but i'll just post it here so people know i answered. c:
the mode is the number that appears the most. so, let's say you have this list: 5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, the mode is 5.
the mean is the average in a list of numbers! so you add em all up, then divide by the amount of numbers there are. so let's say you have the previous list, it'd be: 5 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 then divided by 6.
those are simple examples, but i hope this helps!!

Thanks for the help :) Do you know what mean absolute deviation is?

The median is if you list all of your numbers from least to greatest, and find the number in the middle

Ex. If you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, then your median is 3. But if you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, both 3 and 4 are in the middle. Add them up (3+4=7) then divide by 2. (7/2=3.5) Your median is 3.5.

The range is the biggest number minus the smallest number.

Ex. If you have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,16,48, forty eight is the biggest number and one is the smallest. 48-1=47. Your range is forty seven.

    @rose boy - I think you can do the reverse of what you do when you solve an equation to get the value of x. So here if you want a two step equation you have to do two things. You can for instance multiply both sides and then add something. Here's an example:

      1. Multiply both sides by 2

      2x = 6

      2. Add 4 to both sides

      2x + 4 = 10

    I hope this was helpful and that this is what you were meant to do with that question.

The names of those terms should help a bit :) The confidence interval is the interval, and the confidence level is the level of confidence--you can think of it as the number you associate with how confident you feel on a "scale" of 1% to 100%.

You usually get the interval after you decide your confidence level, although some problems may give you an interval plus other necessary information and then ask you to figure out the confidence level. I'm not sure. But when you're working out problems, you definitely want to decide on the level of confidence first.

Say your confidence level is 95%. Then maybe you get the interval (3 units, 7 units) (can also be written (5 +- 2) units
umm imagine that +- is the proper plus-minus sign haha)

Also, be sure to remember that for the same data set, a higher confidence level means a wider interval, and a lower confidence level means a narrower interval! Can be tricky to internalize at first due to colloquial usage of "confident"
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.
I neither read nor speak between the lines. But I will analyze your language.

I HAVE A QUESTION!

TYPE OF QUESTION: Math
YOUR QUESTION: 60mL of solution A is mixed with 120mL of solution B to produce solution C which contains 8% of pure acid. If 80mL of solution A is mixed with 40mL of solution B, a solution D containing 10% pure acid can be produced. Find the percentage of pure acid in solution A.

I'm so bad at word problems in math?? I've tried to draw a diagram, but that didn't really help .-.

TYPE OF QUESTION: Science (Energy)
YOUR QUESTION: If a bus moves, does the passengers inside have kinetic energy?

So I would say that, no, the passengers have a moment of inertia but not kinetic energy, since the bus is what is moving. However, if you consider from the perspective of outside the bus, they would have kinetic energy. So I would just answer the question and make sure you explain your answer.

@ryunosuke akutagawa - completing @WastedSpace 's answer, if that's okay:

According to kinetic energy's formula KE = 1/2 . m . v^2 , we can conclude that it varies with mass and speed. Speed, on the other hand, varies with dislocation and time. Dislocation depends on the referential: for instance, if the referential is the bus, there is no dislocation on the passengers' part; if the referential is the road there is dislocation. The former implies that there is no speed and therefore no kinetic energy; the latter implies that there is indeed speed and consequently kinetic energy.

sorry for the late reply, but thanks a ton for the answers!
