Royal panted and ran to her trainer. They had just finished training. Her trainer, Rob smiled and clicked his stop watch off. "Good girl!!"he said smiling and patting her head. A small gray cell phone in Rob's pocket buzzed. He pulled the phone out of his pocket and flipped it open. He cleared his throat and put the phone to his ear,"Hello, this is Rob... Yes, Rob the Tracker trainer."He chuckled, looking down at Royal. Royal whimpered and lay down next to him calmly. "Oh, yes! We'll be right there!" Rob said, wide eyed. He clipped a leash onto Royal's collar."C'mon girl! We have no time to waste! The mall has been taken over! They have hostages.."He explained quickly. Royal whimpered and pulled at the end of the leash as the walked to the Rescue van. Last time, she failed at her mission and her father had to clean up her mess. That was embarrassing! That day, she had promised to redeem herself and earn back her spot in the force as top dog.
Rob flung open the rescue van door. Royal hastily jumped in, knowing exactly what to do. Rob ran to the front of the car, getting in and turning on the sirens. The van's back windows were tilted, so Royal couldn't see much. Not that Trakers could see much at all, but the blackness didn't help her poor eyesight either. She couldn't really see any other colors but sky blue anyway, considering that was the color her eyes were. She didn't mind though.
Rob started the car and quickly pulled out of the garage. The car swung around the curb, just missing it. They finally reached the mall. The mall was surrounded by police cars and flashing lights. There were yards of caution tape blocking the doors. Rob shoved the van door open and jumped out of the car. He walked over to the Sheriff to see what they were dealing with here. Royal watched him from the window, waiting excitedly for her Que. Rob nodded and waved to the Sheriff. He turned and walked to the van door. He swung it open and smiled,"Go make me proud."He said quietly, patting her head. "Fetch!"He ordered, pointing to the mall doors. Royal barked and jumped out of the van, immediately heading toward the doors. She jumped easily over police cars that were blocking her way.
When she finally reached the doors, she realized she hadn't fully thought this through. How would she get in? A voice suddenly whispered, "Paw the door open!" Royal looked around, confused. "Royal!"The voice whispered. Royal tilted her head. The voice was coming from her collar! Rob must have hooked a radio to her collar before she took off! Royal pawed at the door, opening it a bit. Royal stuck her nose in the crack, pushing it open all of the way. She immediately took off. There was no time to loose.
She made a couple of high pitched barks and waited silently. The sound waves bounced off of objects and back to her. The mall was completely abandon. She continued searching, sniffing and whimpering the whole time. She finally found something. A scent. It smelled of cigarette smoke and oil. She quickly followed it until she reached a shop. The light was on. She nudged the shop door open and quickly made her way through a maze of boxes, shelves and shattered glass that had been knocked down. As she got closer to the back of the store, she heard urgent sounding whispers. The scent was stronger. She had finally found them! There were two doors, both open. One room was filled with people. They're hands were tied and they looked scared. Royal guessed they were the hostages. She quietly crept into the room the hostages were in. She crawled over to a red headed lady. The lady jumped, not seeing her come in. Her eyes widened,"A-are you here to help?"She whispered, urgency and worry in her voice. Royal whimpered and licked her arm with her long, snake-like tongue, as if reassuring her that it would be okay. The lady smiled. Royal went behind them and bit the ropes that bound the hostages hands together in half. They all patted her and whispered praises. Royal wagged her tail and woofed quietly. "You got'em girl?"Rob asked. Royal whimpered. "Good, we're comin'."He promised. Royal peeked into the room the criminals were in and quickly pulled her head back when one of them moved their foot.
Soon, the police arrived and caught the criminals, Royal had to assist them once or twice when the criminals tried to make a run for it, but eventually they were caught. Rob led Royal and the criminals outside while the police checked the mall for any bombs they may have left behind.
By the time the hostages were home safely, the mall had been approved safe and the officers and Trackers were getting ready to head back home. "You did great! You truly proved yourself worthy!" Rob told Royal, patting her head. Royal's father and his partner passed. He looked a Royal. He seemed happy! Royal barely ever saw him happy before. She felt like she had finally fulfilled her purpose in life. Her father was proud of her! Royal glowed with pride. She truly loved being a Tracker!
Phew! Hope I get her! XD
