Just dark red accents and white as the base, and blue eyes. For design, I just ask to keep it simple, as I'm a traditional artist and complicated designs are extremely hard to replicate for me.

We Need To Talk

We need to have a talk --- from the Cherub Cat creator and artist to you guys, the fans, the purchasers.

I am not enjoying my job anymore. While I enjoy making beautiful designs for you guys to love and appreciate, I honestly feel less and less of that "love and appreciate" each day.

I made a mistake, putting this on the User-made adoptables board. While at the time of creation that's all I wanted to do - create some nice little characters for people to enjoy, breed, and collect. But, it quickly spiraled into something I was hugely invested in.

The Cherub Cats world has a real lore, one I've been wanting to show you guys for ages -- but I haven't been able to. The only opportunity I've given you guys only three people ended up participating in. And yes, I am quite grateful for you handful that did participate. But for the rest of you --

It's super discouraging to put literally hours of work into each design, and then no one even bothers to fill out the adventure form. Or write with them. Or draw. There are a few individuals, yes -- but they represent about 15% of the current Cherub Cats in circulation.

There were even plans for a Cherub Cats ARPG - something that would reward you guys with bonuses and reward you for character advancement, including breeding slot increase and yet another way to get Halos. But I have put that on hold -- Cherub Cats, as it stands, is not ready for a ARPG or deviantART implementation.

And I have to face a decision as a creator on what to do. I refuse to simply abandon my project, nor surrender it to something that I don't like. But seeing this sudden burst of interest from newcomers has given me some hope that there is, perhaps, interest yet from you guys.

The changes I'm proposing are as follows:

Cherub Cats moves entirely to the Oekaki, a place on the forums where I feel there are more serious adopters. Look at Kalons or Viscets. The amount of fanart, writing, and roleplaying that is involved with them is immense.

My first instinct was to remove Halos completely. However, you guys have invested far too much in this for me to consciously discontinue Halos -- I do believe I'm going to remove the announcement of Halos no longer being able to be bought. Clearly, Halos are still important to you. Therefore, the Halo system will be staying.

This is the last time rare or very rare trait customs can be bought except for special occasions and auctions. The new system in works is similar to the HM system you may or may not be familiar with. Work hard, get rewarded with a custom. Right now there are far too many rare-traited Cherub Cats running around for my comfort.

Which also means that after this, +1 Very Uncommon / Uncommon / Rare / Very Rare Trait Tokens will be discontinued. Folk who have them will be allowed to trade them in for Halos after this. After that, they're gone.

A rehaul of the Halo system. When Cherub Cats was first made, I wanted purchasing power to be abundant. However, the system instated is far too lenient. While I appreciate my wealthy buyers - I don't think anyone should have the power to buy thousands of Halos in one go. The buying system is now more understandable, so unless you hand me a List, Dream, or Store pet, this is a guide to follow:

Rares are worth 3-4
Very Rares are 5-10+ Depending
oMGSR hasn't been considered yet loll

2015 - plus 1

Additionally, as very little people used it -- art and writing are no longer redeemable for Halos.

There is now a limit on how many Cherub Cats one can own. That limit is 5. I don't want Cherub Cat collecting to become a thing, and I will make sure of it. This limit may seem pretty harsh, but it can be raised one of three ways.
---1) Purchasing extra ownership slots for 160 Halos apiece. (That's $5 USD or 80 C$ for those who are counting)
---2) Having a Featured Cherub Cat of the Month (+1 Ownership Slot)
---3) I will be handing out extra ownership slots to those who have shown themselves to be quite invested / active in the community and are appreciative of the ones they currently own.


For something on the brighter side, Featured Cherub Cat of the Month will be happening! I have to get this month's ready to go, but we will be featuring one Cherub Cat whose owner has done (or gotten) art of their Cherub Cat and has shown significant interest and activity levels in Cherub Cats.

My questions to you folk are simple - what systems do you prefer? Would you prefer to be able to just buy the ones you really want? Or do you like filling out forms? I'll give you a few options to choose from, as I'm throwing out a lot of questions to you - but please provide feedback as much as you want.

Would you prefer to....
A) Just buy the Cherub Cats you want.
B) Fill out forms, do tryout art, etc. Similar to most Oekaki adopts.
C) Have a mix. Do some form adopts, some adopts are buyable.

There are going to be a lot of posts / updates from me in the next few days as I sort out the Oekaki section of Cherub Cats, work up the new system, work on customs, and release the new build as promised. Cherub Cats isn't shutting down, and I'm not mad at any single person. I am very passionate about Cherub Cats, and I am refusing to let it die.

Now for some opinions:
Personaly id feel these would be good in oekaki
It makes be sad that only a couple people have this cute cats and i believe it will make this more active
as for the other thing
c.form competitions can make cats easier to get for people who don't wish to buy things however maybe special cats can be offered for halos (kinda like what other oekaki adopts do-ex.viscets and kalons)
Id would still like the option to get smaller images though
(for sigs and things)
Perhaps on the form competition page there could be a smaller image code of the persons cat for them to use?

I haven't been here long at all, nor do I own a cherub cat yet, but I know very well that this is a community that I want to be active in, and I adore all the work put in to make sure that each adopt or custom put out is full of personality <33

I was worried that I'd somehow hurt your or any other newbie's feelings. I want you to know that this is in no way directed towards you or anyone specifically. I will be watching you and all the new people's activity in the coming system switch -- should you guys be active, or anyone really be active, I provide a lot more leniency and gifts to those who contribute to my system.

I'm actually really excited for the changes. I feel like it will be easier on you and make things more fun for everyone. As far as obtaining Cherub Cats goes, I think a mix of ways to get them would be good (option C). Most Oekaki adopts that I've found have the artist choose what way they want for the adoption of each adoptable. Plus there are some people that are not very creative or don't have confidence in their skills with art or even writing. That's why it would be good to allow those people to flat out buy some Cherub Cats. Though having them with forms, writing and/or art requirements would also get them to maybe try something new and improve their skills.

Though I do like the idea of there being more adopter/purchaser/fan-made art. And I would most definitely be up for an ARPG!I know you say that Cherub Cats is not ready for that, but maybe there could be more competitions. They could be writing or art competitions that tie into the lore of Cherub Cats so we can learn more about them. I went to your DA reyARPG page and the Cherub Cats DA group and looked at some of the info and lore you have for Cherub Cats on there. I didn't get through all of it, but I think I like their swirls that are the same color as their blood the most. I see the inspiration that you got from Homestuck and I love it.

Also, putting a limit on the number of Cherub Cats is a great way to give more people chances to get their first one. Also the limit will get people to think more about the Cherub Cat they are trying to get, if they didn't before. I think the changes you are wanting to make are great and would do wonders to help with growing Cherub Cats and getting it to the point where you can do all of the things you originally wanted to do with this. I absolutely adore Cherub Cats and look forward to its future and growth.

One more little idea that just hit me. Maybe there could be something to encourage adopters, fans, and purchasers to make art or writing for Cherub Cat of the month and have some kind of benefit to gain from it. That could be the replacement for Halos for art and whatnot. Now of course it doesn't have to be Halos, it could be anything. You could maybe even post an art/writing commission area. This could be a way for others to exchange Halos, Art, or Writing to people who are willing to make art and/or writing for others. Of course some people may be willing to do this for free too. There could even be examples posted and the type of mediums (for art) that they use and how much of what they can do/make at that time. Of course this would add to what you have to manage, but you could possibly make a post for people who pm you with necessary information to you or post it on a separate thread. I think it would be a good way to encourage more art and writing.

Jeez, I'm rambling a bit now, I'll stop. Either way, I love Cherub Cats, I adore you, and I can't wait to see this grow into what you had originally envisioned or maybe even something greater. Also, I think you're doing amazing, despite me having found this only a week ago, I can already tell your love and dedication for your species. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
