In China there's a story about how the 12 animals came along. Someone had set up a booth where animals can sign up to become a zodiac. Now the cat being a lazy animal, [interruption: I am not being mean to any particular animal, this is just how I was told the story.] asked the rat to wake him up the next day early so that the cat could get in line. The rat was feeling particularly mean, and didn't wake up the cat the next morning. The cat became really mad, and from that day on, always chased rats.

So yeah. No year of the cat. [Unfortunately, I love cats.]

I think it depends on whether you're talking about the Chinese or Vietnamese zodiac calendar. In China, it's year of the rabbit, and in Vietnam, it's year of the cat.

In every Asian country it would be the year of the rabbit. Vietnam is the only asian country to have it as the year of the cat I'm viet so I understand that part ;D
