pause on amos till violet replies
Amos smirked at Violet, his brown eyes
twinkling with mirth as he listened to Hayden
stumble over his words. "It's pretty obvious
isn't it Haydee?" Dark eyes scanned over the
girl before Amos nodded to himself, assured
that he had the right impression of her.
When he next spoke, his eyes stayed on
Violet, though the explanation was for the
healer more than anyone. "The alpha
is your brother. Which means you're
alpha born. But you're stuck as an apprentice
to a healer. A rank normally given at pup
hood. My guess is that something happened,
and you got weak. Weak enough for your
brother to be assigned alpha instead
of you. But he didn't tell you. So you're
ticked." The words were soft, and it
was hard to be mad at such a blunt truth
when it was spoken in a voice of honey.
Amos expected a slap nonetheless, and prepared
himself for defense by tensing up, eyes still
carefully trained on girl in front of him.
If he had guessed right, she'd probably be angry
at a mere omega reminding her of such
a history.

Cybil shrugged and sat back on her hands,
bright eyes watching the wolf. "Well my offer is the
best you'll receive. The others in the pack probably
won't be as welcoming to a loner on our territory."
A small smile as the dog started to tear into the prey she
had produced. At least one of the pair wouldn't let pride
get in the way of survival.
"I'm Cybil by the way. And you are?" Blonde waves
tumbled across her shoulders as she leaned forward,
friendly and welcoming as she would be with a
member of the pack. "It's fine if you don't want
to tell me. But it helps to know people in these
parts. The winter can be especially trying."
Nothing the girl said was spoken in a condescending tone,
nor did she seem the least bit concerned for the
loner. Cybil had encountered many loners in her time,
and while most of them preferred their independence,
she always made a point to extend and offer of help,
should they ever need it.
As the Beta waited for a reply, she surveyed the wolf.
His heterochromia had thrown her off for a second,
as it was rare to see a werewolf with such genetic
mutations. But otherwise he seemed perfectly average
for a loner. Thin, still muscular. He could be handsome,
but Cybil had no clue what his human form looked like.
