Gingerbread Hunt Round 1

Catskitten - C9

After walking through the forest, you find the cabin that was stated on the map. It seems old and in need of repair, but smoke is coming from the chimney. Does someone still live here? And if so, would they know where Gingerbread came from?

Observing your surroundings, you can see a little bell on a rope by the front door, but there's also a small path leading to the back of the house. Which way will you go?

You carefully check around the area for any signs of a den, but your search was suddenly interrupted when a snorting sound made you jump! Looking around, you notice a herd of reindeer in the distance, and curiosity draws you closer. Their fur looks incredibly soft and fluffy, even from a distance- but wild reindeer could be potentially dangerous...

Will you approach and pet the reindeer? Or will you leave them be?

It's been a difficult trek, but after a few hours you made it to a small ledge near the mountaintop! From up here, you have a lovely view of the entire map area, and you pause to take it in before searching...

During your search, you see something small and brown in the snow, and investigate... it's a bear cub!
It seems lost... will you help it, or stay away?

Approaching the waterfall, you can clearly see the cave marked out on your map. Gathering your courage, you head inside...

You walk down a narrow passage, deeper and deeper into the underground... until finally, you reach a crossroads. You can head left, right, or keep going straight. Which way?

After walking down various paths through the village, you find yourself at a dead end with two houses before you. The left house is a fairly large wood cabin, with a beautiful wreath on the front door and a small tabby cat sat by the path. The right house is a sweet little cottage, with two rocking chairs on the porch and a faint smell of cinnamon coming from an open window.

Walking along the forest border, you check each tree for signs of Florfauna activity... there's so many of them though, and there doesn't seem to be any that stick out from the rest. You haven't finished searching the border, but maybe there could be something deeper in the woods though?

Will you continue along the border, or head into the forest?

Fireskele – E7

You reach the frozen river, pushing through the reeds to reach the river's edge. You can see multiple dens and burrows along the riverbank, but one in particular stands out. It's a bit larger than the others, and upon peering inside there seems to be something shiny there.

Reach a hand in?

On the mountainside, you keep climbing up the steep slope until you reach a somewhat flat area where you stop to rest. To your surprise, you're not alone: a few mountain goats are here too. Most of them seem curious about you, and after a few minutes a rather heavy-built ram trots up to you. It has something around its neck... but then again, you might not want to get near something with such large horns.

Making your way through the grass and snow, you can't seem to find a den anywhere aside from a few rabbit holes. However, there's a hill up ahead with a large tree at the top. Perhaps this tree belongs to Gingerbread?

On the way up, you pass a large rock- but there's something odd about it. Upon closer inspection you can see some sort of passageway behind the rock, leading into the hill.

Will you enter, or continue climbing the hill?

Within the forest, you explore the woods carefully, seeking any sign of what could be Gingerbread's home. After some time, you come across a giant oak tree... while it's certainly not what you're looking for, a sound draws you closer. There's a hole in the tree trunk, and it sounds like something's inside.

Investigate?

Walking through the snow, there doesn't seem to be a lot here... There's something in the distance though, and you can't tell what it is at first. Wait... is that a snowman?

It is! Well, almost. This snowman is quite mishapen, and seems to be missing a few parts. It wouldn't hurt to take a break and finish it off, right?

Reaching your area, you search for clues about Gingerbread's home. You can't find anything that could help, but you discover a small set of prints in the snow, and decide to follow them. It leads to the forest border... and you find a little fox sat under a tree. It looks at you, then towards your pocket- which contains a sandwich you brought along for this expedition - and licks its lips hungrily.

Wandering through the snowy wilderness, you assess the area... there's a lone tree to the north, and a rocky area to the south near the cliff.

Which way will you go?

As you walk alongside the forest border, you can hear something in the branches of a nearby tree. You investigate... and find a crow perched on a low branch. It caws at you, then flies out into the snowy wilderness. You could follow it, but there's still parts of the area you haven't checked...

What will you do?

Approaching the lake, you search the reeds and lake shore carefully, but you can't find anything. As you look around though, something catches your eye from out on the ice. It could be worth investigating, but will the ice hold your weight?

Head onto the lake, or stay at the shore?

Despite the fact you search this area for an hour at least, there's nothing here that helps or hints at Gingerbread's home. Just as you're about to give up, you spot a tree that you didn't see before. There are words engraved into the trunk:

"Follow your heart, and the wilderness will reward you."

Underneath the message is an arrow pointing into the snow plains away from the forest. From here, you can either go left, right or straight into the wilderness.

After a long trek, you find yourself between the forest and the foot of a mountain. Looking up the slope, you can see a small cave nearby.

Just behind the village, you find a small fenced-off area with a small shed. The door is slightly ajar, so you could go inside, but it could also be worth heading up the mountain to see if you could find anything there.
