@dove Yes, many of my characters have aspects from my personality, but isn't that what the new roleplay thing Wren's got up is for - to develop your characters' personality so that they're not just extended versions of yourself?
Also, I love reading the stories you've posted so far. My answer is a resounding yes.

Thanks :)
Luckily, I can just copy and paste my stories from a document since I've been writing them on multiply websites. Also I'll go check the RP thing out.

would anyone like me to read there stories/books?

Yes, please! :D There's a link to 'em in my sig vv c:

NyxxofStars wrote:@dove That. Is. Amazing. I really want to read more! The idea is really engaging and you write really well!
@Rexx I ALWAYS love reading and supporting writers please link it to us!
Also I don't know why but I just rememebered a tiny idea I had about a sort of introductory chapter I wrote a while ago. It was about this girl who was totally fine with there being an apocalypse, but she was NOT fine with messing up her braces. She wasn't going to have bits of wire and jangling metal in her mouth. Her quest is literally to find a dentist, and maybe find some friends along the way save some people yadda yadda. I'd love to post it and get some thoughts but I don't know the post limit on this forum and I'm still a bit iffy on whether the apocalypse is an appropriate topic for CS, ya know?

That
sounds awesome XD XD

Dove, Mai, one way to find out how similar your characters are to yourself is by using this! c:
...although I don't think it's always bad to base characters off of ourselves, as long as each person is still unique. There are many different aspects to living people, so each character you have could resemble you in some way, yet be totally different from each other c:

Wish I could binge write. I've been staring at the screen for 10 minutes thinking about what to write and still nothing.

Saaaameeee, I have such trouble thinking of what to write and then staying writing it - no way could I keep going for 6 hours, you're amazing!

Don't we all? Guys, I want to be too many things when I grow up. A writer is one of them, but probably as a side hobby/job...

Eh...heheh... (writer, linguist, microbiologist) yeah, me too. I mean, I imagine writing is going to be the main thing though, and I may not even pursue the others, so I guess it's not as much of a problem?

Hehe. I'd like to be a movie director, writer, artist, etc...

I'd like to see some of everyone's old stories!

@Ranger- That was extremely helpful. But my NaNo character is a little too perfect. Oops XD

Meriddean is suspiciously similar to you as you'd like to be. He is so impossibly hip that he has difficulty seeing over his own pelvis; he'll probably die young, but damn, will it have been a good life. He may have sometimes thought that he was special, or destined for greater things, but probably dismissed the idea as a fantasy. He's come in for his share of hurt, but gotten off with minor damage. And you, his creator, have spoilt him rotten and given him everything he wanted.

You may have let yourself get a little too close to Meriddean . Maybe he's you as you wish you were, or maybe you're just afraid no one will like him and are trying to give him a free ride. Have some confidence in your writing! Meriddean is a good character. Give him room to be himself before you stifle him.

Ranger, that was a fun little test.

Vered is only a little like you. She isn't really very cool: she blends into crowds, she hangs out on the fringes at parties, and wearing shades after dark makes her run into things. She may have sometimes thought that she was special, or destined for greater things, but probably dismissed the idea as a fantasy. She's got no emotional scars to speak of. And she's gotten no slack from you.

In general, you care deeply about Vered, but you're smart enough to let her stand on her own, without burdening her with your personal fantasies or propping her up with idealization and over-dramatization. Vered is a healthy character with a promising career ahead of her.

-_- And I thought she was kind of blah...
*gets whacked over the head by character...*

@Silver, who's Meriddean from? I like him at any rate; sounds interesting.

He's going to be in my *currently untitled* nano story. He's an intergalactic thief, and that's all I'm sayin' right now 😏

Can I get some feedback on this, please? First time writing in first person.

With just a look

You spy the man leaning against the wall opposite you, drinking a dark red liquid. His fathomless ruby eyes seem to pierce into your soul, yet you can't bring yourself to look away. Your body moves in his direction, acutely aware of his sharp teeth as he flashed a dangerous grin.

You’re my captive

The moment you are in range, he lunges and wraps his arms around your midsection. He bends his head to the crook of your neck and inhales, a purring sound emanating from his chest. Clawed hands run along your sides before he suddenly picks you up as if you weigh nothing. With scarcely a glance around the crowded bar, he carries you upstairs.

Secure the lock and it becomes eternity

After dumping you on the bed in the room, the crimson-eyed man secures the bolt with a solid click. The sounds from down below are cut off as you notice the twisting shadows in the corners. You also see that his figure is no longer human, but something more sinister, dark feathers drifting to settle on the sheets. "W-what are you?"

"My dear woman, I am a demon." With a shrill cry, he bolts forward with his mouth gaping to reveal serrated fangs.

The bold italic bits are from a song. Yeah I have no idea where this sprang from.

This is really good! (Though you're writing in second person, not first) but I love it! The descriptions are really good, and I'm a total sucker for things written in second person as well. It flows very smoothly, and builds suspense, especially with the way you've broken up each section.

Yes. I mostly just actually work on one at a time, but I have way too many ideas that I want to write.

Headphone Actor wrote:I've been taking the MBTI test for my characters guys, it's actually really fun. I just feel like that's a nice little thing for an author to be able to tell readers their favorite character's personality types.

I've done that with a few of my characters, and it's fun! It kinda takes forever though, so I haven't done it much.

dove. wrote:Am I the only person that feels like there characters is to much alike to yourself?
also should I put my stories onto CS?

Eh, sometimes. I don't mind though, it's easier to write a character with some of myself in them. And yes. The more stories the better.

I took the Mary-Sue test with a few of my characters, it's pretty cool. It definitely misjudged how awful their pasts were though - It said two characters with some trauma had none because it didn't fit into the categories available, and of two characters with a lot of trauma it said the one who actually isn't that angsty about it was much worse than the other.
