SPOILERS BELOW

- My prediction for abraham was correct and people said there would be two but i never thought...
I THOUGHT GLENN WAS SAFE I WAS SO DAMN RELIEVED AND THEN DARYL HAD TO GO AND UGHHH!
I'm so torn, i feel kinda sick, i'm stressed allready like, i dont know how i'll function without Glenn in TWD i MAY of been able to cope with abraham and his little phrases being gone but GL E N N?

I knew Glenn had to die soon though so i expected it, i mean, cmon, he really did have it coming. Negan is an ass and allthough his humour makes me chuckle i still hate him. But damn Carl was dolling out S A S S like no tomorrow he was ready to snap Negan in two. What i'm worried about is that of all people MICHONNE is scared of Negan, we're really screwed with this one haha, i'm just stressed lmao i need to go distract myself from the death of a favourite character,,

    INHALES
    season 7 spoilers below!!

    we like to watch and experience twd as a family, so we got this nice dinner going
    and snacked on some cookies to calm down during talking dead- actually, we had
    each placed bets on who we thought negan's victim would be. since my mom had
    already settled on daryl and my dad chose abraham, i just decided to stick with
    glenn. i was, in fact, expecting both abraham and glenn to go, but one at a later
    point in the series. turns out my dad and i both won. i wasn't surprised when
    abraham got lucille'd, moreover taking it like a man and even insulting negan, but
    i'm still gonna miss the guy. glenn's death was unexpected after that until daryl
    jumped on negan, so it was a real shame; however, i think it's quite amazing how
    much they resurrected the scene from the comics, makeup and everything.
    they really toyed with us, though- both my parents thought everyone was dead
    after rick's delusional memories, but i knew they wouldn't have killed all of them
    off just like that. things got real tense when negan tried to make rick cut off carl's
    arm, and i don't believe we've ever seen rick so powerless in a position like this
    before. all in all, it was a great episode, even if we had to say goodbye to two of
    the most wonderful characters.

- i knew abe would die, i had my reasons for thinking this and they were correct but i cant believe that i thought for a s e c o n d that glenn was safe from lucille, i think im still going through the shock, im going to miss them so much wAHHH

but seeing rick so powerless and broken again h u r t me, it was like after he lost carls mum all over again but worse, negan is real twisted and whats worse is that i've got a gut feeling that he isnt going anywhere any time soon, in fact i think he might stick on for a few seasons like the governor did

I guess I saw that coming.
I mean, people I already had their minds set on either Abraham or Glenn, so to make it less predicable...
Well.
They did both.
As for the gore, they did an amazing job on Glenn especially with the eye. I also liked how they followed the dialogue from the comics.
-
I'm really curious to see if they'll do scenes with Daryl, or make it like when Carol left and just cut him out until he's more plot relevant again.
( Well, he's always relevant, but y'know... )

[Kass]
riff already posted her thoughts yesterday but i'm gonna go ahead and post some of my own since i have some differing views on things...

[s7e1 spoilers below]
[ first i have to start off by saying i'm pretty biased since glenn has been my favorite since the beginning but... i don't think glenn or abraham were good choices to kill off, and an especially bad combo to kill. i've always seen glenn as the most "human" character, the one with the most old world values left. but surprisingly i think for him this wasn't a bad thing. for some characters old values make them naive but i think that in spite of it, glenn was still able to adapt pretty well while maintaining a purity that the other characters had long lost and that's what made me like him so much. and this is why i think it was dangerous to kill both him and abraham at once. i feel that glenn was the character who really kept rick from going off the deep end, exemplified by his comment that "we were almost out there too long" when asked why he wants to live in alexandria. now that he's gone i'm scared to see what will happen to rick, especially with negan trying to break him and now he doesn't have glenn to "bring him back" so to speak, when he verges on going too far. abraham was sort of similar in that he, in my opinion, probably had the best sense of humor of the group. so i think with the loss of two people at once who did most of lightening to mood, it opens the way for rick to go down a very dark path.

i also really thought it would be daryl. i have heard that in the comics they killed glenn here because he was the fan favorite. daryl is obviously the fan favorite among people who watch the show (although glenn is pretty close) so i thought to make this death as iconic/impactful as possible they would go for daryl. and that coupled with norman reedus taking up a lot of other roles recently (ride with norman reedus, death stranding, some voice acting) i really thought it would be him. but i suppose it makes sense since steven yeun asked for them to not give anyone else that scene, and if people think of it as a scene defining of the character of glenn i can see why they would want to keep it compliant with the comics.

i will say though that i think glenn had the potential for a lot more development. maybe this is just my bias again but i would've liked to see him for at least a season or two more. i think he was changed the slowest by the world but it was gonna get to him eventually. he only relatively recently killed his first living person, in season 6 a little while before he goes under the dumpster for a few weeks, and i would've liked to see how much purity he could've held on to as time continues to pass. (on a side note i find it a bit strange that they tried so hard to make us believe that glenn was dead for what felt like so many weeks, just to bring him back for a handful of episodes without much of a reunion, just to kill him off for real). i would've also liked to see him become a father because i think he would be a great dad. it makes me so sad to think that his kid will never get to know him. that scene with everyone eating dinner together was brutal. i've been tearing up all day just thinking about it. i hope maggie tells their kid nice stories about glenn, i don't want them to ever forget him. i feel that since glenn has always been my favorite, walking dead has lost something especially important to me, since i know it's gonna be next to impossible for me to love another character half as much as i loved glenn. :'c
]

[comic spoilers below]
[ anyway glenn aside, i'm pretty sure at least that negan is still alive in the comics? i haven't read the comics so i don't know how far ahead they are of the show but i think they're pretty far ahead considering that a friend of mine who read the comics told me like 2-3 years ago that glenn was dead in the comics and i don't know if it had just happened recently when he told me, he told me also about carl losing his eye quite a while before it happened on tv. so i have to wonder why and how is negan alive? is his arc still going on? i can't imagine it ending without him dead, but for it to go on so long too seems unlikely. i know i could easily resolve these questions by reading the comics but with how much i procrastinate that's not likely to happen anytime soon. also still not sure if i'm ready to do it because i'm not sure how much i want to be spoiled for when the show rolls around to a point when something big happens in the comics.
if someone's read the comics i wouldn't mind you pming me a bit about this, just try to avoid any really major spoilers. i'm most interested in knowing a yes or no as to whether negan's arc is over.

and does anyone else think that they're gearing up to have carol kill herself soon? i've heard she kills herself in the comics shortly after coming to alexandria, but she does because of sophia i think and that's obviously not gonna happen in the show. so i think that making her as unstable as she is at this point is because they want to follow her comic death in some way but obviously need something new to drive her to suicide. i'm really hoping she doesn't though, but i kind of think it's likely soon, if not this season maybe the next.
]

and this is pretty late but...
[fear twd spoilers below]
[ chris' death affected me way more than i thought it would. i felt so awful that i kind of hated him right up until his death but after that i started to appreciate him. i keep thinking that the last thing his dad said to him was "damn you, chris." it seems to me that with a lot of characters i don't care much for them until right before they die and then i start to love them. this happened with deanna, andrea, and denise, to name a few. "you never know what you have until it's gone" is an especially true phrase when it comes to the walking dead. ]

i teared up way too much writing this lmao. also sorry for practically writing a book.

spoilers below with more of my reaction

Like Chandler said in that special before the first episode when they were going through all the seasons, "Rick will definitely feel inferior to Negan." Which was absolutely true in this episode, although he was forced to so Carl's arm wouldn't be sliced off. It was almost depressing seeing him utterly powerless, also Rick bawling gave me the chills.

I felt like we needed a pshycopath, it's been a while since those cannibals in season 5. I enjoy Negan's humour, and I also feel like he doesn't hold back. He's a sick, gruesome fellow!

      @ nerd - (COMIC SPOILERS) -- I'm pretty sure that if they choose to not go into uncharted territory (basically veering away completely from the comics) that Negan will stick around for a long, long time. My dad gets the comics and keeps my up-to-date on things, so as I type this, Negan is in the latest issue, but his beloved Lucille has snapped in two after he gets a little to brutal with a victim. My guess is they will repeat what they did with The Governor, at some point in the distant future they will follow the route of the comics, which would mean locking Negan up in that prison Morgan was building, only for him to break out in the end, and we lose track of him for a bit, unknown where he is, and they'll look for him and have no luck. Then eventually he will come back, depending on how long the series actually decides to last. --

      @ kass - (TV SHOW SPOILERS) --While I didn't finish reading all of what you said due to getting distracted (curses ADD) I do see what you mean and I do have to agree with you on one specific part of your post, and that part is Glenn going missing, only to be brought back and killed. If you think about it, Glenn went missing very early on in season six, I think maybe episode one or two? And he didn't officially come back until the mid-season finale / mid season premiere. While I myself do think it was necessary to kill Glenn and at least someone else here (maybe not Abraham, but at least someone before Glenn since a majority of the fandom was expecting them to kill Glenn, but was not expecting them to kill off two people), I do think it was a little bit pointless to have Glenn's near-death experience, have him come back for only a half of a season, only to get Lucilled in the end. They should have just never done the death scare if they planned on doing this personally, but since everything in television shows has a reason, all I can assume is that they did it to foreshadow what was coming up, seasons without Glenn Rhee in them. --

spoilers still
@kass i really do agree with you, i knew glenn was gunna go but i dont think i was ready, it wasnt like it was deserved for either and without them both i think rick is going to spiral, since negan has daryl he is definitely going to spiral , he only has maggie and carl as solid grips now if that. also i've heard negans still alive in the comics which makes my stomach churn
@smofir yeah, i do believe that rick is n o t doing well, Negan is a whole nother level that he hasnt dealt with before, this episode proved that. i still lowkey hate myself for laughing at his jokes because damn i love a villain with a sense of humour!
@mysterysoul ngl that makes my stomach do absolute f l i ps. Negan is the first villain to make me love his sense of humour but also not like him, whats weird is that i think for the first time ever in a tv show, i am legitametly scared of him and what he can do, this episode shows just a fragment and i am really not up for the rest ;-;

no spoilers really unless you're suuuper sensitive about that kind of thing (or haven't watched season 1 lol) so i'll just keep this in normal text:

it's possible that a lot of you have seen this already, but for those who haven't, i think it's nice to know that this is most likely where the title of the latest episode comes from. the scene is from season 1 in the cdc when the doctor tells rick that the timer is counting down to when the place will self-destruct, and rick asks him to let them get out before then so they can at least have a chance to survive. ;_;
