So I haven't been here since like mid to late last season I don't think, but lol the premiere was a doozy, so I need to share some thoughts!

[ Originally, I thought Negan would kill either Glenn, Abraham, or Daryl; I thought it was most likely going to be Daryl, but even if it wasn't him, I thought it for sure couldn't be anyone other than those three. I've known for like... a month and a half now, though, that it would be both Abraham and Glenn who would die.

I honestly thought that knowing that far in advance would give me the time to make peace with it and emotionally prepare for this episode, lol, but it was actually really shocking to me because of how graphic Abraham's (and especially) Glenn's deaths were; even though it was sufficiently gory in the comic, I doubted that they would really be able to get away with pulling that off on TV.

So even though I was as ready for this as I could have been... it was still pretty upsetting for me lol. I thought Abraham and Glenn both had really, really good deaths, and the episode itself was really well put together; I loved the unsettling and suspenseful mood of it, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is really convincing and charismatic as Negan... I kind of feel bad for finding him so likable lmao, but then that's kind of the point of his character.

Though I do have to say that looking back on the past six seasons of the show, I'm going to really miss the characters we lost today. Glenn always remained so good-natured and uncorruptable through it all, and Abraham was such a strong character who was still really funny and charming... I feel like their arcs could have gone on at least a little longer, what with Glenn becoming a father and Abraham's relationship with Sasha/Rosita. But alas. The show will be missing something without those two, but I think their deaths really honored them--Glenn's last words to Maggie, and the way Abraham rose to Lucille and remained defiant to the end--it was a powerful ending to the both of them. :')

I agree with everything that you said. It was sad to see them go, but their deaths left a powerful mark and gives the group an idea about the person their dealing with.

I, uh... I don't know what to say. My family and I, we sat down prepared for whatever was going to happen. We had theorized, analyzed, and had come to the very same conclusion that played out. But when it came.. I was crying, straight up tears as I watched. The whole episode was so amazing and a great mix of Negan's personality and the horrific end we all knew was coming. I just.. I don't think we'll get over that one.

It was so horrible. I had read the comics so Glenn's death was something I thought I was prepared for. It was so great to see Abraham keep his defiant person all the way till the end, but I can't imagine how this is going to effect everyone else. and Glen... goodness. This is when I started crying. That scene was so tense, right before it happened. We all just knew. It was unnecessarily graphic, but sure did drive home a point. I'll miss them both.

I was veerrryy unhappy to watch Rick break down again, as in the comics it was very powerful and emotional. In the show it was just the same. I will say I was convinced it would be Rick's hand, and it was a happy surprise to see that he got to keep it.

I'm so tired XD and sad.

      SPOILERS BELOW

      - So I successfully managed to get through WITHOUT crying or reading the spoiling dead, but I can honestly say I was not expecting that whatsoever.
I wasn't expecting them to do two deaths, but I think it worked out pretty well considering the circumstances. I don't think I would have done the premiere any differently.
Sadly, both had it coming. Abraham was sort of a relaxer. Not many people were expecting them to do two deaths, so Abraham was sort of a cushion. The "Oh, it was Abraham, that wasn't so bad." Which then led into him killing Glenn.

Like I said. Both had it coming. They couldn't give Glenn's death away like they did Abraham, but because everyone was expecting it to be Glenn, or a majority of the fandom, it had to be done the way it was to be a shocker.

In the end, I think they did great with the first episode, and it makes me very excited for the season..although I will say Glenn made me extremely sick to my stomach with that eyeball!!
