RPW - Coco's Storytime

A pup bounces up to you, her little bob tail waggling rapidly, “Will you tell me a story? A spooky one?” She looks up at you pleadingly, “Please, please, pleeassse? It's my first Halloween! I want to hear all sorts of awesome Halloween stories! I'll share my candy with you if you'll tell me a story! Just one? Pretty please!?” She's so persistent you give in just to get her off your case. Besides, she said she'd give you candy, so why not?

Coco wants to hear Halloween stories, so it's your job to come up with some to tell her! They should involve at least one of your RPWs and should be at least 150 words and no more than 1,000 words. But there is one more catch. For each 'round', you will have a set of words that you should try your hardest to use. These words should MAKE SENSE in your story and not just be there to earn you candy, that's the challenge of this activity. For each word you use, you will earn increasingly more candy. Your story can be funny, scary, or whatever you like, but it should be Halloween related somehow.

Each round you participate in will earn you 10 candies automatically, with the possibility of more depending on how many of the special words you use. For this round, you have 20 words and they are:
1. Witch
2. Cold
3. Red
4. Groan
5. Storm
6. Swamp
7. Scream
8. Growl
9. Bang
10. Curse
11. Stalk
12. Chill
13. Spider
14. Bat
15. Bleak
16. Struggle
17. Pumpkin
18. Ghost
19. Trick
20. Creep

If you use 1-5 of the words in your story, you will earn 1 additional candy for each word.
If you use 6-9 of the words in your story, you will earn 2 additional candies for each word.
If you use 10-14 of the words in your story, you will earn 3 additional candies for each word.
If you use 15-19 of the words in your story, you will earn 4 additional candies for each word.
If you use all 20 words in your story, you will earn 5 additional candies for each word.
Make sure you BOLD and UNDERLINE each of the words you use, so I can find them easily.

The 5th and final round starts now and will end on November 1st, so you have a couple days to come up with your story. As this is the final round, it will be a little bit harder and give you the opportunity to earn even more Candy. Your stories may also be a bit longer to accommodate the extra bonus words. Good luck!
Only write ONE story per round!

    Esker's Indecision:
Last year I couldn't decide what to do as a costume for the trick-or-treaters. "I could be a black cat, or maybe I can dress like an untamed wolf and howl at the moon! AHHHHWOOOOOOO. Nah. I'm already a dog. Definitely not a wicked green witch! Too cliche, plus girls usually do that." I had a whole list of possible things I could be. There were thirteen to be exact. At the time I didn't realize it, but having the number of choices be unlucky, maybe that is why I couldn't decide. Anyways I thought it would be best to leave that alone until I just had an "AH-HA!" moment, so I went to go dump out the candy bags into the bowl instead. I remember after I went to bed later that night, I couldn't go to sleep so I went to go make some hot-chocolate. And then as I took it from the microwave thats when it happened. A ghosty looking spirit figure floated down right in front of me. It had a fur ruffling eerie glow to it. And it just floated there doing nothing. So I stood there and also just watched it, but I wasn't going to let my hot-chocolate cool, so I drank a sip every once-and-a-while. It looked offended when I drank out of the cup, almost like It thought I was disrespecting it. Eventually it faded away, and I was so tired I didn't even think twice about some ghosty thing being inside my home, so I just went to go back to bed. I lifed up the blankets, crawled in, and thought I would wake up with a good costume idea. As I was just about to drift off into dreams, PLOP. I heard a squishy noise and felt something on my face. I opened my eyes, looked up, and screamed. The ceiling was covered in blobs of glowing slime. I screamed more. Was it toxic? Was it poison? Was it harmful in anyway? How do I get it off. I was panicking and going completely insane. I freaked out even more when it all suddenly faded away. "Esker you are crazy. Delusional! Hallucinating, right? But this I could feel it and smell it on my fur!" Hours of talking to myself lead to sleep, if you could even call two hours of rest sleep. I woke up really upset because not only did I not have a costume idea, but what was that goo?! I looked back up at the ceiling, no goo, but the spirit was there. Somehow, seeing the spirit calmed me. I bet he did it. But why? I don't know. "I'll just be a ghost then." I said to the spirit, and he faded away. None of this makes sense- I know- I don't understand it either- and it happened to me!

Kyoko's Story:

I was out trick-or-treating as a pup - and, wouldn't you know it, it was Friday the thirteenth. Weird how that worked out, huh? Anyways, the night was so dark - not a star in that black sky. I was on the hunt for candy, determined to get as much as I possibly could. I was out with my friend, Sayaka, but we decided to split halfway through the night and make it a competition between us. I went right, and she went left. As I wound down my twisted path, I could've sworn I heard a howl in the distance. I paused, wondering if it was Sayaka, but realizing I would've recognized her voice anywhere, I rationalized that it wasn't her. I shrugged and kept moving. Eventually, I came to a house which had this cool green glow around it - the lights were so bright, I could've spotted it from a mile away! It was eerie, walking up to that strobe-light that flashed, casting wicked shadows onto the ground beneath my paws. I knocked on the door, and waited. Just when I was sure this was a dud house - no one home, after all - the door creaked open. Out flew something white and ghostly - y'know, looking back on that, it just might've been a spirit! I didn't know at the time, of course, but I'm getting ahead of myself, heh. Anyways, out that thing flew, and back I stumbled. I suddenly felt something wet at my paws, and looked down to see this disgusting red slime coating them! I back-pedaled as quickly as I could've, and raced back the way I came, shaking my paws every so often to try to dislodge the stubborn fluid still stuck to my paw-pads. Finally I got back to where the path had initially split, and I raced down the other way, yelling for Sayaka. I found her eventually, thankfully, and we both recounted our tales - her house had spooked her with ghouls flying out and swirling around her! When she saw the goop on my paws, she offered to help me clean it off, and we stopped for a bit to catch our breath before continuing on.
Moral of the story, kid, is that you don't go-it-yourself on Halloween night!

Ayano flicked her ears as she departed from her smaller sister, going off on her own into the eerie, yet tranquil, black surroundings. She was much more suited to this than getting along with others, her own little adventure...and she could end up getting the most candy, too! "Hopefully mum and dad won't tell me off for leaving Oka." She snorted to herself, ears flicking as she silently padded along. A lone howl soon sounded through the night, and she paused, glancing around...unknowingly having wondered into a forest, she scowled at her mistake and turned, only to see two sets of eyes peering at her through the darkness...they seemed to glow, almost. "Woah...wicked! Are you guys spirits or something? That's so cool!" She could hardly contained her excitement...except it wasn't all too well. The wolves that the eyes belonged too cackled, and before she knew it, Ayano was running out of the forest, paw steps behind her as she had balloons full of slime getting thrown at her...thirteen to be exact, and once she had reached home, she scowled in discuss and went to get cleaned up...maybe next time she should stay with Oka.

Calla and Lily
Twins, Calla is blind & Lily is deaf. Communicate only through physical touch

It was the night before Halloween, and per usual, the girls had waited until the last minute to prepare their costumes. This year, they had decided to go as Elphaba and Glinda from the broadway musical, "Wicked." They had originally planned to make many aspects of the costumes on their own to save money, but at this point they were out of time, and so to the local Halloween pop-up store they went. On the sidewalk leading up to the doors, there were a number of large lawn decorations on display. Lily was delighted by the sight, looking longingly ahead at an eerie skeleton princess in a rotten pumpkin carriage drawn by two hauntingly-adorned skeleton horses. Calla, however, was frightened by a sudden, unexpected howl from a motion-censor werewolf blow up. Once inside, they were disappointed but not surprised at the lack of selection. Much of the supply had been bought out and not replaced since the store was simply temporary. The most desirable costumes had been bought out, leaving only odd pieces like masks resembling politicians with blood and slime oozing from their orifices. They had hoped to buy some cauldrons to keep their candy in, but sadly those were long gone. They'd have to settle for pillowcases with cauldrons drawn in nearly-dead sharpie. Their spirits slightly down, they proceeded to the costume section to find pieces for the watch costumes. Calla followed suit with her sister, patiently following through the aisles as Lily dug through the clearance racks, hoping not to hear an exasperated sigh each time they came to a stop to search. Feeling a bit down, Lily linked her tail with Calla and the two made their way out of the store, when she saw a blue frilly mannequin in the corner of her eye. Near the wigs was one last dress, the store model. Perhaps they's be willing to sell since the store was almost due to close? Walking closer, she recognized the outfit as Alice from the Tim Burton rendition of Alice in Wonderland. With a few gems from their bedazzler at home, it could definitely work for Calla's Glinda costume. Looking at the tag, she couldn't believe it! Only thirteen dollars! It was even on sale! Though a size too large, they'd have to pin it up just a bit. Calla could hear her sister rustling with the dress, and reached out to touch it. The large tulle skirt and puffy shoulders felt very fitting. Her face glowing with excitement, they walked out with one little gem for their costumes. They headed next door in hopes of finding materials to make a wand for Calla and a cloak for Lily. Lily would carry a broomstick from the closet to accompany her costume, and for Calla they found a long dowel rod they would paint blue, and a large applique snowflake from the (admittedly premature, though handy) Christmas section. Heading into fabrics, She found many of their rolls had been sacked by last-minute costume makers as well. The only roll of black she could find with a sufficient amount to make a full cloak, dress, and hat was a soft, thick velvet. At least she would be warm! They checked out, somehow managing to stay under budget, and headed home to prepare the bits of the costumes they had somehow managed to scrape together.

Kurloz wrote:There once was a Wicked witch, she lived in a thick swamp, off of Lake Circe. It was often rumored that if you lit Thirteen candles upon the stroke of midnight, on Halloween, the Spirit of the witch would rise up. Of course, not many believed it. But no one wanted to try it out. Except for a smaller, more adorable Kurloz William Utsler. Of course back when he COULD talk that is. His Shaggy JetBlack hair rested on his shoulders softly, as the wind blew a careful yet Eerie tune. It was almost as if it urged the curiosity of the wolf more and more! Once the dusk started to settle down, and as Night grew near the more nervous he got. Soft whimpers escaped the small wolf's mouth as the trees looked more like monsters, as they creaked and groaned loudly. He started to back out, but nothing would scare him!! Not now, not ever! He was a big kid! And so, he began his march into the woods. The candles where set down one by one, and he hesitated to light them. "It's only a legend." he murmured, probably to reasure himself. he softly flicked a lighter he had brought along, and off went the first.... then the second... the third.. all the way to thirteen. A bright Glow illuminated in the center of the circle, and intricate patterns found their way dancing across the ground! He couldn't believe his eyes! And soon it became too much to look at. After the glow died down he opened his eyes, and the spirit was infront of him. She looked somewhat coated, in a thick Slime. Almost similar to the lake's slimey waters, and he wondered if this might have been what happened.. But it suddenly hit him, she could see him! Her laugh coming out like a gruff Howl across the seemingly cold night. (Which he never remembered it being THIS cold!!) Her eyes glared softly down at the shaking pup, "Why, what a young lad. Its pretty odd to see such a cute kid, summon a spirit. And i was having such a nice rest too. I demand a reason for this." She scoffed. He didn't know what to say, how could he explain this even?? "I'm waiting. Or unless you want to be cursed! I will give you enough badluck for a lifetime! Unless.. you bring me exactly 60 pieces of Candy before the clock strikes one. If you fail, you will have bad luck for the rest of your life." She sing-songed softly. And that sent kurloz running, he didn't listen, nor care about the 'curse' if anything it caused him to run MORE. He never went back, nor did he really... enjoy halloween anymore. But the witch kept her word, and kept him locked in a curse forever.

for Peer Halloween was his favorite holiday. Not only did he get to dress up in a cool costume at night and go around getting candy but he was able to tell and read scary and stories. Like those of Wicked witches, wolves that howl and slimy creatures scaring other children. While he wasn't one that was all that scared there was one story that really shook him up. It had all occurred on the thirteenth of October, and it just so happened to be a Friday. It was pitch black outside. Peer was hanging with his pals and they had decided to share stories in the hype for Halloween. Though the story was not all that bad, involving spirits that had haunted young children it was what was occurring in the real world for Peer that spooked him. His friends had thought it was a good idea to make somethings in the room glow at random times during the story to make the atmosphere eerie and once his one friend had finished the story the others flickered the lights and made it seem like Peer himself was in the story. It had scared him so much he almost started to cry. Though he understood it was a joke and but ever since he has always felt haunted by the spirits mentioned in the story because of his friends.

Esker examined at the tiny fangs in his paws and felt connected to the spirit he saw before. He had found them beside his bed when he woke up exactly a week after that frightening incident. After turing on the TV, He walked over to the window and reflected on his quiet surroundings. "Annndd next up: Two Graves found dug up. No harm seems to have been done except both the victims' largest fangs seem to be gone. More info coming later!" Esker was thinking about how that was a strange thing to happen, then he gulped and looked back down. Did... Some of these teeth belong to them? "...Yes that is correct. More graves have been found to have been dug up." Esker turned off the TV and put the teeth away so they would be completely hidden and out of sight. He glanced at his own reflection again. Would this be his last day in his home? Was he going to arrest them since HE had the teeth? As Esker stepped outside another Wolf came closer, he knew the other wolf could see the fear in his eye.
"I am here because I want fire," The wolf bellowed, in a threatening tone. He slammed his fist against Esker's chest with power greater than a wolf was capable of. With blood dripping from a wound on his cheek, Esker looked up at the figure from the ground. As he looked closer, he realized this wasn't a wolf at all. It seemed like a floating shadow, and he saw what looked to be the moon in his eyes and could see through the "fur" of this being. A chilling shiver went down Esker's spine. He recognized those eyes... The phantom... From before... Had those same eyes... They looked at each other with awkward feelings. Suddenly, Esker lunged forward and tried to wave at the spirit in the face. In his own words, the spirit made a "shrieking wail type noise," and then faded away.
"Is this a joke?" Esker screamed.
"Is someone doing this?" He was really angry now.
"By how could they. It touched me and..." Esker already knew. It couldn't have been a trick... No. This was... Real.
