*Ahem* Sorry. There's a writing contest I'm participating in, and the guy who writes the prompts put it on pause--to resume 1 Oct. 2016--but he hasn't been on at all this month. Let's say I have a need to do something like this >^.^< Lemme just figure out where to actually write my response/reaction thing...

*story update*

Wrote a bit for the first chapter at work, so here it is! Why can't I do this at home, where I don't need to be bothered?

William hung up with the medical assistant, looked at the notes he had taken, and silently groaned. Of all the options available to them, this was the one they chose? For the woman─who is human─to regularly consume the blood of a reaper to dispel the demonic essence within her. Honestly, what are they thinking? A knock on his closed office door made the supervisor raise his head, brow knitted in thought. "Enter, please." The silver handle rotated before the door slowly opened, a reaper who was a head shorter than William in the entrance. "Mr. Humphries, excellent. I wish to speak to you for a moment. Have a seat."

Alan cautiously entered the spacious office, apprehensively eyeing the supervisor's death scythe that was leaning against the wall. "With all due respect, Mr. Spears, I'd rather stand." He nearly yelped in fear when William grabbed his scythe and pointed it at him, its blade appearing to be aimed directly for his heart. Closing his eyes tightly, the smaller reaper waited for the blow that never came. Instead, there was a click behind him, as though the door had just been locked.

"You can stop looking like you are at your own execution, Alan."

Upon hearing the laughter in William's words, Alan let himself relax and crack an eye to find the older reaper regarding him with a raised eyebrow.
