HUGE spoilers inbound for Sister Location and Silver Eyes!
Okay, so I've been thinking a lot about the lackluster and twist ending. The arguments people have made against Afton being possessed by Ennard make a lot of sense, but I can't help but think that this is a lot like FNaF4, with the Bite of '83 vs. '87, where the community is torn between two things, one of which being right under our noses and the other being farfetched. But last night, after venting to my poor mother about how disappointed I am with Sister Location (another story for another time), I decided to dig into Silver Eyes and read all of the descriptions Afton is given, and upon further inspection, the ending may be what a lot of people think.
Firstly, the timeline. In the book, Charlie's brother gets snatched in '82, and Fredbear's Diner closes shortly afterward. Freddy Fazbear's gets opened in '83, and closes in '85 after the murders happen. If we were to base off this, then I say Sister Location takes place after '85, since in the beginning HandiPad mentions something happening at Freddy's.
Another point is Afton changing. Back when Freddy's was in business, Afton was a fat man, and now in '95 (or sooner) he's emaciated. Now, true, this could be like Clay described, Afton just dropped his disguise, but what if it was him being possessed by Ennard?
There are a lot of descriptions in the book that lead me to believe that this may, in fact, be true. "His skin was sallow and his eyes were undercut by heavy lines, adding to the impression of longstanding ill health." "His gaunt features and sunken eyes, his skin that seemed to have worn thin, ready to snap from strain." And after John gives him a good hard slap, "Dave's body moved upward, straightening but the movement was too smooth. He seemed to make no effort, use no muscles, exert no energy." "Dave's eyes opened steadily, glassy and without emotion, like the robots on the stage outside." "The voice came from inside the mask, but it was not Dave's, not the pitiful, sour tone they would've recognized. The voice of the rabbit was smooth and rich, almost musical. It was confident, reassuring, a voice that might convince you of anything." That sounds a lot like Baby's/Ennard's voice to me. In the same paragraph there's also mention of bulbous eyes, what human would you describe having bulbous eyes? Then there's another mention of his eyes "glimmering" in the light. Clay describes the recent picture of Afton looking like a "poor facsimile of himself".
And lastly, Afton saying that the animatronics won't attack him, because he is one of them. When I first read this, I thought it was figurative. That he was saying that he was a lost soul, much like the children. But now, what if it was literal?
The only thing that debunks this theory, if we again, ignore the games and focus only on the book, is when he dies in the springlock suit. The description gives you the impression of a human being getting brutally killed. And if we don't ignore the games, then this theory can't be true, because look at Springtrap.
Another point towards this theory is the glow of the eyes. Ballora's eyes are not that deep and rich of a purple, they are more magenta. Those rich purple eyes look at lot like the color of Purple Guy. And yet another point, if we include the games, this could help explain Pink Guy and Purple Guy, Pink Guy being Afton before Ennard, and Purple Guy after Ennard.
But again, there's a lot of things to debunk this theory into the ground. If anyone can easily debunk this, please, debunk it. I have to get it out, maybe it'll make me feel less disappointed in Sister Location and Scott. Which, again, is another story for another post.
I made a Reddit account just for this theory, but it can't be viewed by the community for 14 days because I just made the blasted account. And by the time that is up, Scott would've teased Sister Location 2! So this stupid theory would be irrelevant. Yeah, as you can see, my excitement for Sister Location has turned into disappointment and frustration.
Megaguirus gets distracted by a butterfly. So pretty.
